  • I compared the different interpretations of this symphony (Toscanini, Ponelle, Svetlanov, Jansons, Markevitch). But this performance is really the best! Great and exciting!

  • Listen to Yuri Ahronovitch and the London Symphony Orchestra play the Manfred Symphony and you will be amazed! It is unlike any other performance and wonderful.

  • Eccellente esecuzione!

  • And in this situation I am proud of that at it the Ukrainian surname! I almost work 20 years in symphonic orchestras of Russia and Ukraine and I can dream only what to work in such orchestra and with such conductor!

  • All greetings! I am sorry for my English. This best execution "Manfred" that I heard for last 8-10 years! The orchestra is simply magnificent!!! Is more tremendous, excellently, professionally!!! I don't know what words it is possible to pick up still?! The conductor simply well done!! Despite that it is young, it the magnificent professional!!!

  • Really fantastic ! Breathtaking. Passionate. Petrenko is great and in a luck and gorgeus day the orchestra was excelent, as usual. Thanks for posting, form me, this masterpeiece. Remarkable high points in this presenttion at 14'; 23'; 46'; 54'; 1h 01' 09" and 1h 03' 20" . From Brazil, JAL

  • The performance starts at 9:18

  • 22:57 - 25:15 intense and emotive part

  • @isa123que But to me it's little too slow here... Prefer it to be faster..

  • @isa123que Epic!

  • to me that Tchaikovsky was a prodigy, this work is very difficult but very beautiful and I like violist say that these scores counting viola`s are much level

  • Amazing rendition of what i feel is Tchaikovsky's best work. Its ridiculous how anyone could call this trash. sorry to say but i have to hate Bernstein for that.

  • I'm so pleased to find this video! I was privileged enough to attend this performance myself and believe that Petrenko is the absolute master of this piece, both in this performance and in his Naxos recording with the same orchestra. One of my favourite symphonies of all time.

  • 46:26

  • Marvellous!

  • Manfred starts at 9:20

  • Finally! Thank you so much for uploading this! I managed to beg a copy of the DVD from the BBC but it kept sticking. So delighted to have this performance at long last! :)

  • Amazing conductor, amazing orchestra, amazing work of art! Manfred is a long-time favorite of mine. So glad it's being revived.

  • que orquesta es ?????

  • @franciscotrombon es la real orquesta filarmonica de liverpol, RLPO

  • @franciscotrombon la mejor de el mundo la RLPO

  • This is one of my favorites. I thought it was an excellent performance.

  • While the performance may be technically brilliant, the Markevitch performance is so far above this and others that it is hard to give anyone else a good mark in this symphony. In this performance, what's missing is some of the Russian fire that you hear in Markevitch's performance or Mravinsky's Tchaikovsky. Instead, we have a very well crafted, polished performance that dopes not transcend.

  • @classicalalways I'm not familiar with Markevitch's performance but as a great admirer of his I am sure it is excellent. Personally, although highly regarded by critics, I find Mravinsky's Tchaikovsky too hard driven robbing the music of its poetry, though I have to admit it can be very exciting in parts.

  • @TheVaughan5 There is an excellent Marris Jansons/ Oslo Phil complete Tchaikovsky symphonies including a terrific, strong but not over- driven .Manfred

  • Thank you so much for posting this outsanding concert. I was lucky enough to be there and can say it was one of the best I have been to in many years.

Vasiliy Petrenko is THE major talent of today's young conductors, I hope he stays a few moe years with the RLPO they deserve him but I am convinced we will see him as director of one of the major European orchestras in the not too distant future. (no disrespect to the excellent Oslo P.O.)

  • Al fin la presentación completa!
