  • Shawn, in Texas, due to hardpan and a lot of wind you hit lot of balls slight back in your stance producing low draws. You both have to make sure your hit ball first and keep it low. You would never pick the ball due to the bounce of modern irons and the higher launch angle.

  • Your videos are the best! 9 holes in Arizona over the weekend......one green missed. Par 3 (just short in the bunker) one fairway missed...fairway, green, fairway,green...most fun I've had playing golf in a long time! Thank you!

  • Thanks for recommendation! I caught something in "Dynamic Takeaway" at the end that really stuck w me. The more lag you can create the more open the face gets. I watch a lot of youtube golf channel bla bla. I have never seen that explained, NEVER. HAVE to brace/tilt to achieve it!! This vid; great analogy! There is definately a weightlss feeling @ top of swing w sledge/ax before gravity drop>xconcretewrkr. Hey, in Houstn, if ur out here forcing ur swing, ur gonna be sweatn ass off.

  • Shawn - Tried to throw my driver in the backyard per one of your other videos. It went over my shoulder behind me and missed my neighbors dining room window by about 4 feet. Wanted to crawl under a bush! Couldn't believe I'd hold on like that. So like you say, make sure you do it with good netting to catch wayward throws! Roy aka FindTheRiver

  • another great video, I'm improving every time i play.

but i'm still having trouble getting distance, when i do get distance i slice or hook the ball any advice.

  • Great video love your philosophy about the golfswin. I have a problem I take the club to much inside in the takeaway, I have done this basically since I started playing golf and it's a swingflaw that I want to get rid of, Do you have any suggestions any drills that might help me with that problem? I would really appreciate a answer, thanks Shawn. I'm a 4 handicapper, but I feel like this problem hinders me from improving my game, I have worked on this but I still take the club underplane.

  • @f0cusen Have a look at my "takeaway waggle update; shawn clement" video; as well as the "downswing focus sets up the backswing" and you will see what you have been missing in your focus and awareness; a good complement is also the "bread and Butter shot" video

  • @aldojoel1981 there are many options for clubs with a bit more weight to them. Iron shafts like the dynamic gold are heavy, and for woods look for something in the 70-80 gram range. For some more drastic weight increases, you can try lead tape or the tour lock weights that Shawn has in all his clubs. Matt Blois

  • @wardn53 have a look at the "braced tilt" video, the feeling is more slightly pre-turning your body slightly behind the ball and securing against the right side. Hope that helps, Matt Blois

  • Thanks Shawn. Your vid is always so instructive. I went to the practice filed today with the feeling of your swing. Take a look if you have time, and your comments are warmly welcome.

  • I am highly analytical in nature and had to know the ins and outs of every aspect of my golf swing. Your videos have helped me minimise that and now I play almost entirely by feel, of course using your pre-swing routine to determine the feel. I have never hit the ball more crisply. Thank you so much!!

  • Hey Shawn! Long time youtube fan of yours and DVD owner. They've helped me so much. Just watched this video last night and something totally clicked with me today on the course. I usually shoot low 80s, but had never got into the 70's. My biggest weakness was GIRs. I'd be lucky to hit 7 per round. Today on my approach shots, my only thought was my target being "out there", the center of the green. Target awareness...Well, I hit 13/18 greens, 9/14 fairways, and shot a 75!!!! Thank you!

  • @harty798 Thank you for the great comment man! That is a definite clickety click!

    Shawn

  • Buy his video you will learn tons!!!

  • Shawn RULES. This guy knows his stuff..=)

  • Hi Shawn, When you do your tilt, are you tilting to the right or to the right and back?

    NW

  • Shawn!! Ive now been watching your vids for about a year. Let me tell you; you without even seeing my swing have literally shaved 25 to 30 strokes of a 18 hole rd for me and added 25 yards per club. Your better than EVERY OTHER GOLF "instructor" online. Period!(and ive been through them all...trust me) So simple yet genius. Im still learning to trust "abandoning" the club in the back swing but when i do and swing "at the target' the results are uncanny. You deserve TV.....

  • Shawn which golf clubs you recommeds that is heavy enough to feel the weight of the club like arms club unit???

  • great video, fyi, was watching Tom Watson the other day, said to turn club around swing a few times, then turn club back around and now you feel the weight. It works

  • love your work you are a great teacher

  • Shawn uses Dynamic Gold shafts and extra Tour Lock weights in the shaft of at least his driver in order to get some 'heft' in the club. Check the Wisdom in Golf web site (shawnclementgolf) for previous discussions on this.

  • So are is your arm club unit like a wet noodle coming through or is there tension in your swing at impact?

  • I don't know if Shawn uses heavier swing weighted clubs but certainly Moe Norman did. So last season I decided to experiment by adding lead tape to increase the swing weight of my clubs. Certainly worked for me.

  • @golfdoconline Instead of adding weight to your clubs. Get or buy a golf shaft with no head and try to swing that the same way as Shawn is a few times. Then go back to your normal golf club and swing that, you'll really feel the weight then. Also, if you're not feeling the weight on a normal club, you need to loosen up the grip and tension in the arms.

  • @1tontomato Thanks for the thought, but that's not what I want to accomplish. I want and have a heavier swingweight which creates more momentum. I purchased Taylormade Superfast 2.0 hybrids - I have the 3, 4, 5, and 6. Each of these have a D8 swingweight and each weighs 11.6 ounces. I like a heavier club. Not the illusion of a heavier club. I've also made my 6,7,8 and 9 all weight 14.6 ounces. My driver and 3 wood weight 12.3 ounces.

  • @golfdoconline Hogan used heavier clubs too. It just seems like the huge emphasis on ultra light weight clubs in the search for a few extra yards hinders the feel Shawn promotes.

  • @aeneas266 A lot of players use heavier clubs Norman, Hogan, Trevino etc. If you want a few extra yards it's best that they land in the fairway. The best way I've found to do that is to follow Shawn Clements teachings. Get a target and swing through toward that target. My distance has improved as has my accuracy. I'm having a lot of fun playing golf letter my central nervous system do the work as Shawn teaches so well.

  • @golfdoconline Try a golf swing weight donut... probably would help as well...

  • @rock815 Actually the donut is pretty old technology. On my practice club which I swing in the bedroom - especially now that it's snowing here in Seattle I use the Taylormade Speed Sleeve - a very cool accessory. As I said above I don't want the illusion of a heavier swingweight I actually want the increased momentum a heavier object by the laws of physics must produce. It helps keep me on line and by employing Shawn's swing strategy I'm hitting more fairways and greens than ever.

  • How much does the emphasis on ultralight equipment hinder this motion? It seems like the club would be easier to feel if it was heavier. Do you put counter-weights in your clubs?
