  • How can you teach biology without believing in evolution

  • @kidluna I asked our biology professors about your comment and here's what one of them shared with me:

We teach the science of evolution. The entire biology faculty believes that the scientific evidence strongly supports the Darwin's theory of common descent and that natural selection was and is a major force in driving evolution. This scientific evidence in no way contradicts the Truths of creation that have been taught by the Church. (Contd...)

  • @kidluna (Contd...) In fact, in the words of Pope Benedict:

"We cannot say: creation or evolution, inasmuch as these things correspond to two different realities. [The Genesis creation account] does not in fact explain how human persons come to be but rather what they are. .. And, vice versa, the theory of evolution seeks to understand and describe biological developments. But in doing so it cannot explain (Contd...)

  • @kidluna (Contd...) where the project of human persons comes from, nor their inner origin, nor their particular nature. To that extent we are faced here with two complementary—rather than mutually exclusive—realities."

I hope that helps clear it up!
