im a big fan of all systems hort .especially aquaponics .. you can use tellapiah for example . then you could eat that harvest too , or sell it to an indian restaurant , they cant get fresh .. check my facebook page earthangel market gardens and food .
@1alaric hello!! earthangel organics...wow..that sounds awesome!! yes, I am using the water from my pond, but not all the time. It could absolutely be set up on a drip though...and I do have plans for a small aquaponic tube on top, it makes sooo much sense. I'm a BIG fan of aquaponics...my favorite channel right now..on aquaponics, is flashtoons's channel...such powerful info!! Thanks for sharing my friend. Very appreciated.
@austinsimpleliving thanks....it's becoming a jungle again in there...the tomatoes are about 6ft right now...loving your backyard operation too...going to really enjoy watching it all progress...LOVE the supports you made for your melons...working one similar right now...against my house.
How big is your dome? My landlady said she doesn't mind if I grow veggies in the backyard, but she doesn't want a big dome taking up all the space in her tiny backyard.
It's an 18 ft. in diameter. They're as small as 12ft....on up to 52 ft. in diamter. What's cool...is the height you gain as the diameters increase. The bubble get's bigger. I like how some people are even digging our the floors of their domes to gain more height!
thanks tmc200527....we're loving the dome! The rocks do take up a lot of space...but other than the thermal mass you mentioned...they also provide year round refuge for all sorts of beneficial critters in the garden!! The volcanic rocks are great! It would be fun to hear what you options you go with..so many!
Great Video. I just discovered these Domes and would like to build one. I don't know if I would use the rocks for the raised beds though. It seems like they take up a lot of space. I guess it does provide thermal mass for the winter. Thanks for sharing.
Check out our site, rawutah, for a great photos on the whole dome build process......and on the growingspaces site, you'll find specs/prices and other photos of domes!
I am thinking about possibly making a 15' by 8' polytunnel to grow food alll year round but the geodesic dome looks very nice, did you design this yourself, or is there a website with plans online that you used?
