  • Wow that kid is so black you can't even see a distinction between his face and his hair with the big lips. It almost looks like they are making fun of his character and a little racist. Hopefully that wasn't the intent.

  • why did the black boy have to be so...well....black???? i cud hardly see his face his skin tone is so over exagerrated

  • laurie is sweet XD <3 i love him

  • the boy should have know that he was already out of the south..... They live in New England, so he has been out of the south for quite a while already! Maybe he was heading to canada or something......

  • @Mortskcab most slaves escaped to canada, they were free there :)

  • "Tell him anything! Tell him I ran away to join the army!" haha best line!

  • the boy is a little too............uhh dark dont you think ?

  • @purplrosez05 I agree, they went way to overboard in his design..... but then again the animators are japanese so lets cut them some slack

  • I wonder why that boy ran away?

  • 3:34 "yes thats what they told me..." LMAO ssooo wierd

  • 3:13 Hahaha! Laurie just got tripped by a kitten xD

  • @bigkid10151989 LOOOL

  • lol. The runaway slave boy's character design looks like it was based on blackface stereotypes. Great job guys!

  • Actually, I really like how the illustrator's creation of this animation, but I just find the dialogue lacking some spark.

  • the only thing i dont like about this is they make laurie look like an idiot which he definitely wasnt

  • ther was never a boy in a river and mr.brookes never saves him?

  • No, not exactly.

A spin-off book was written (not by Alcott) called "March" which tells the story of what happened to Mr. March before, during, and after he fought in the war.

In this novel, Mr. March fails to save a Union soldier from drowning.

Also, Mr. March was a guest at a plantation house in this novel. He ran away when he heard that the plantation owner found out that March had taught a slave boy to read.

So, I'm thinking that maybe this scene is an adaptation of those events.

  • i love joe ^^ she kicks ass :D
