This is one of my favorite hymns. I am an ordained Anglican minister from Uganda in East Africa. Whenever I sing or hear this song sang, I feel immense awe of the Lord God and find myself wanting to fall on my knees and worship the Great Potentate of the universe!
I play this hymn, along with many others in my spare time....just to offer my heart out to the Lord. I'm now Catholic, but was brought up Lutheran during my boyhood years. I still have my copy of "The Lutheran Hymnal" from the 1960s, & this particular hymn is listed as #246. I'm now 54 years old, I'm one of the lectors at my church, & every 3rd week I'm also a eucharistic minister. And I'm very proud!
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. This past Sunday (June 7), we sang this as the opening hymn, since it was The Holy Trinity. It is #413 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. Just thought I'd share.
