  • ♫ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY ♫ - Sammy Davis Jr

    Would be 85 today - 8th Dec 2010!

    We miss you Sammy! ♡

  • man you cannot get a cast like this together today, those guys had fun.

  • Freddie Prinze Jr never knew how his father died until later on when when he was in elementary and another kid walked up to him and said that his dad blew his brains on out.

  • ...."cause I´ve got a Knife".....

    hahahahahaha

  • @Coptic78 I TOTALLY FELL OFF MY CHAIR cos of that.

  • yeah i forgot all about freddie prinze he was hot for a good minute he really had talent too bad his life was so short

  • Respond to this video... It sucks to know that everyone in the video except rickles is Dead!

  • @johnathanjericho Dionne Warwick is still alive too

  • Amazing Talent, the reason roast are not like this today is these guys spent years honing their craft and they were around for very long time. They could be funny without being vulgar, taste change and times change. Look up Lenny Bruce. I always wondered why Frank wasnt at this roast.

  • Freddie Prinze, RIP. A great talent that flamed out.

  • Excellent!

  • a funny young man whos takennnn the country by storm.

  • I was a writer on the Dean Martin celebrity Roasts and they were really having as much fun as it looks!

  • @TheLaughMakers so ur saying none of the comedians on the show wrote there own jokes?

  • @TheLaughMakers really? they didnt write their own stuff?

  • @TheThroney It probably depended on the person. Freddie Prinze, Foster Brooks, and other comedians probably wrote their own stuff. Non-comedians, like the singer Dion Warwick, may have had their jokes written for them, but TheLaughMakers person needs to answer that.

  • im a 16 year old girl, who WISHES! this kinda comedy would be in Comedy Central today

  • @MJsGuardAngel Ah, there is still hope :)

  • Wow, so much more gentle than today's roasts.

  • now we have to se flavor of flave get roasted...

  • @sharpi22 flava flava has been roasted

  • It's too bad that our nation's better years of diversity and tolerance are BEHIND us. We've exchanged our celebration of differences for the imprisonment of political correctness.

  • @SavethePlace yeah- you nailed it. when did that happen???

  • i wonder how sammy felt when he heard about freddie dieng but ye u cud tell sammy felt happy around every1 at this roast :)

  • I've never heard of Freddie Prinze before...this guy was FUNNY! I wish comedians could be this fun and funny again.

  • Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant!!! I never knew Freddie Prinze Jr's Dad was a comic. I should be cleaning my house while my babies are asleep but instead I'm here crying with laughter. Thanks for sharing this :)

  • Oh Freddie.....we miss you. You could still be doing this......sad. Thanks for posting this ,so we can all appreciate his great comic talent!

  • Damn.1977.A genius was lost.

  • freddie was a true comic genious !!! i wish they would put chico and the man back on the air.

  • @turneralissa100 Chico and the Man would be a great re-run! Loved that show.

  • @ atoxx1 - he was depressed and killed himself in his hotel room with a gun, @ like 22

  • it was funny till he mentioned "the struggle."

  • I remember when we lost Freddie Prinze. What a loss.

  • Does anybody know how he died?!!!!!!1

  • @atoxx1 - Prinze suffered from depression, and in 1977 shot himself after talking on the telephone with his estranged wife. His business manager tried to intervene, but Prinze shot himself in the head. He was 22. The death was ruled a suicide, but in a civil case brought years later, a jury found that his death was accidental. Prinze had a history of playing with guns, faking suicide attempts to frighten his friends for his amusement.

  • @atoxx1 he shot himself. There has been some argument over whether it was accidental or an intentional suicide.

  • @atoxx1

    i googled a few days back..truly sad.

wikopedia or something like that. its all there.

    suicide...and only 22.

  • you can tell sammy davis respected freddie tremendously. i love this!

  • @toastarchurro Yeah, they really did look like the best of friends. Thanks for watching and thanks for the nice comment!

  • ive never heard of freddie prinze until now. but then again im kind of young to know much about many of the people sitting at this roast.

love learning about these people! :D

  • Legend xx R.I.P

  • Im 14, i only heard of him because of his son Freddie Jr. But even I love him!! He is so funny and it is such a terrible way that he died. In my opinion, he is so much better than all of the "comediens" today. R.I.P.

  • DON RICKLES was dying with freddie!

    now THATS talent right there!

  • he was making DON RICKLES die with laughter!

    that's some talent right there!

  • a funny young man whos takennnnn the country by storm.

  • a funny young man who has takennnnn the country by storm.

  • a funny young man who has takennnnn the country by storm.

  • 1st stuff ive evr seen from prinze-i had heard about his story but never seen any of his stuff hes pretty funny

  • i got those same pom poms and dog in the back

  • freddie was funnny

  • Gotta Luv Freddie!!!!!

  • Now HE oozes charisma!! I was in kindergarten when he died and still remember how funny he was on TV. No one has come close to his caliber--sorry George Lopez.

  • What a shame.... Freddie was very funny...

  • This man was funny R.I.P. Freddie Prinze

  • Here today and gone tomorrow. That kind of talent comes alone but a couple times a century. R.I.P. Freddie

  • I wish the Roasts were still like this.

    What The Heck Happened?

Since when did vulgar humor seem funny?

I want it back to smart funny humor.

  • You know Carley, it is no secret I am old. I had not watched a Roast in many many years and a few months back I decided to watch one, within the first two minutes I had changed channels, if I want to hear the gutters lowest language I can walk down most any street and hear that trash. True Comedy and wit are dead, that is the greatest less.

  • @CarlyIsAGangster i think it started when the PC's came and destroyed acts like don rickles'

  • @CarlyIsAGangster Our culture has been dumned down, so the best comedy we get today is potty humor!!!!!!!1

  • @CarlyIsAGangster: THANK YOU!

I was thinking that exact same thing tonight as I was watching Pamela Anderson's Roast (Technically I wasn't watching it, I was channel surfing. Each and every time that my TV turned onto the roast someone was cussing or making a lewd comment. The word "Celebrity" means very little these days; that word used to be reserved for the best and the brightest stars, these days all you have to do is sleep with a famous person or show your boobs to gain such a status.

  • @TopherT1979 You got that right. Half of these celebrities nowadays do not have any talent AND want to get paid TOP dollars. Pamela Anderson can't act worth a beans, but as long as she has the boobs that's what brings in more viewers.

  • @CarlyIsAGangster i disagree

  • @CarlyIsAGangster umm have you seen don rickles roast sammy davis? its pretty vulgar my friend. that is part of the fun.

  • @CarlyIsAGangster since redd foxx n eddie murphy n richard pryor :D n there funny

  • well, Sammy was close to being PR, he was part Cuban...

  • maybe he was on prescription drugs as well?

  • He committed suicided in 1977 while he was doing his show, "Chico and the Man".....He was on quaaludes at the time.....So sad....He was very talented......

  • Poor sap he pushed his brains into the wall with a bullet oh well u ever wanna leave its a certain way to go

  • yeah, if only he would have been george bush

  • Did anybody ever find out why he died? May his soul rest in peace.

  • There was something very special about this guy - What a talent !!!!!!

  • This is great. Eddie, though I was young when you left, I still miss you.

  • These are fuckin brilliant...never knew they existed !

  • What year is this??

  • 2009

    Sorry couldn't resist.

  • Freddie just became a grandfather. Imagine how happy this would have made him.

  • what a great talent, such a great loss RIP

    Freddie!

  • lol funny.

  • Never got enough of Freedie. He did'nt give us a chance. We've had a longer time missing him then the time he was with us.

  • Freddie is the best love him. RIP Freddie

  • Dumb question, but is this Freddie Prinze Jr.'s dad?

  • Yes it is

  • I hope you're both joking.

  • yea it is

  • YES IT IS

  • Freddie was the first and, unfortunately, last funny latin comic. George Lopez, Mencia, and all those other guys just suck and aren't even funny at all. I can't believe how young he was when he died. Wasn't he only like 24yrs old or something like that?

  • It seems like all great latin stars die early. Remember Ritchie valenz, Salena, and Freddie Prinze. Who's next. God forbid. EASE UP ON US PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He was 22.

  • Why didn't they write that joke for me?

    'Cause I got a knife.

  • George Lopez deff takes a lot of his style from Freddy Prince in how he delivered a punchline, and what not...

  • He was so talented. What a waste.

  • he was gud

  • for those that dont know freddie was on th show chico and the man in the early 70s,,, within 2 yrs or so, freddie commited suicide, that was 73 or 74 :( he was awesome

  • where did you find this ? This is classic footage to see all of these folks just having fun and making each other laugh.

    thank you very much.

  • Dude was hillarious.

  • freddie was a comeian before his time ..he was for latino's the lenny bruce of his era .. opened so many doors and unfortunatley was gone from us too soon..we miss you freddie

  • Hilarious beyond his years.

  • I wouldn't know whether to ask him for an autograph or a date!

  • coz i got a knife! genius

  • Freddie Prinze was a genius.

  • love that they smoke and drink on national television

  • those were the days

  • @ChimRichaldz

Anyone wish we could go back to them and stay?

  • he was 22 sad

  • omg, 22! he was just a baby! he seems so wise beyond his years. sad indeed.

  • It's the side burns.

  • Love this guy man ,wish he were still alive one of the best comedians, needs to be remembered in comedy central I think.

  • I remember seeing his debut on the Tonight Show. That night he blew Johnny Carson and guest star Sammy Davis away and he was invited by Johnny to join them on the couch, a real honor for guest spot comedians back then. After that he was everywhere doing his stand up and eventually of course his show. I was a huge fan. I cried buckets when he died.

  • I am only old enough to have seen his son on stage. He doesnt touch his father by a 1000 foot pole. I wish my generation was able to see him live

  • This guy was fabulous.

  • it was a shame he had to die so young, i think he was about my age at the time

  • legend

  • lmaoo! Hilarious!

  • he's not your brother,,that was not my job(lol)
