  • So how would I do this:

A bird across a pond in a video.

I want to take that vid, zoom into the bird, and track his movement, with the deshaker.

Can I use virtualdub to zoom in a track, along with deshaker?

Or is that beyond the capabilities of virtualdub?

Any help on this would be excellent and appreciated!

  • I captured video with my Insignia video camera and it is using AVI H264 format, but Virtualdub is saying it does not support this format. I have even tried installing the latest divX codecs and it still does not recognize it.

This program was designed for AVI right?

  • is their a way to make the screen shake

  • what does ASF file not supported mean plz help thnx

  • @thesmellybananna This program is aimed predominantly towards AVI. I would convert it. Try Any Video Converter by AnvSoft. Just make sure you convert it as a .avi file and use the highest video bit rate.

  • @DelzieC I am sorry sir. Please download MediaCoder or SUPER to convert the file.

  • how Can i MAKE camera shake?

  • what if I have a Sony camcorder, for example, model DCR-SR68, which I think has .mov format. How do I use VirtualDub for .mov files? While I'm asking, how about other files from many other make and models of different video cameras, what should I do or upload maybe some codecs, so that VirtualDub supports these other files and formats?

  • @ussprinceton2004 I have that same camcorder, model Sony Handyman model DCR-SR68. To compensate, I use a variant of VirtualDub: VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2. You can Google it and download. Though, you will still need to add the deshaker plug-in from the location mentioned in the video. I hope that this helps you and anyone else.

  • @BusterTV1 Yes, export the video with Xvid from Virtualdub and import into Movie Maker.

  • @solvingtime Thanks, I will give it a try. I'm wondering if my new Windows 7 is causing a problem. But, I also tried it in my XP and had no luck, so I will try it iut. Thanks again.

  • how do you convert the video for VirtualDub?

  • @andyli916 VirtualDub usually does AVI, Xvid, any real codec you have installed.

  • @andyli916

What software do you use to convert MP4 videos to AVI, Xvid or any real codec??

  • @robert44c5 Google MediaCoder. You'll have to install Xvid or DivX first though.

  • @SeventhTearr Oh that's just the low quality mode. After you export from Movie Maker it'll be fine.

  • wow this seem complicated..

  • @DKhopeANDdreams Ah it's easy once you do it.

  • @SeventhTearr I'm glad you got it figured out!

  • i dont get how to download

  • @emy51325 I think you'll run into trouble later if you don't understand the download process... but you can find help in the video description! sorry!

  • @SeventhTearr Are they still this way when you export them? Are the source videos of high quality?

  • Thanks you very much,

  • I was able to download DeShaker, then I was stumped after that. Then I went on YouTube and found your tutorial.

    Your How-to helped me tremendously!

  • I don't understand the 30 frames message at the beginning of the video. It also mentions to delay the audio for proper syncing. Is there anything I need to do?

  • In your video editor, you will notice the audio may be out of sync. In Windows Movie Maker, just make a copy of the video and put it in the audio track, then move it backwards or forwards depending on how you need to match up the tracks.

  • @leirbagserolf Uh, if the video looks weird, check if all the frame rates are the same. If the audio is messed up, try moving it around in Movie Maker later.

  • Why would you ever need Limewire? VirtualDub is free, (as in beer)!

  • oh realy kool, kool video

  • dude, that's an awful voice to put on - but this is GENIUS software, I can't believe it's free. Thanks so much for the tute, it's put life right back into a video I thought was lost to camera shake!

  • hi

I use Virtualdub with Deshaker and get mixed results. the videos are smoothed nicely but playback is choppy on VLC playr also dramatic increase in size. 23.4mb video is converted to 510mb after Deshaker, same 19 seconds of video.

  • Research how to use the "Compression" option in the video menu. After picking a codec you want to use, the file size will be much smaller, also depending on your quality settings and the codec efficiency. Right now, VirtualDub is simply exporting your videos as "Uncompressed RGB."

  • thank you by it their an effect that allow to shake the video

  • How can I use Virtual dub with WMV or MOV Videos?

  • Convert them with software such as SUPER, MediaCoder, MediaFactory, or HandBrake.

  • awesome! love the new voice! it's funny yet i hear every word you say :D

  • nice to see your back i now have a mac and pc

  • nice video great info
