true for bedroom players, but u can actually make moeny with guitar playing and even live from that, become session or studio guitarist or give lessons or become endorser for equipment or make good music which sells or play many gigs with a good band.just to name some possibilities. besides this, if ur very good u can do a solo career or u can make a living from playing acoustic concerts and writing instrumental songs. so its not f... impossible.

No, you are wrong. Look me up on I-Tunes and then click on the books link. I wrote a short e-book on how I made money playing the college market. I'm not saying it's easy and you'll find yourself hating motel rooms. But the gigs pay well, the audiences are respectful, and you CAN arrange your schedule so you have enough "off time" to stay sane. It just depends on what kind of music you play & were you live. I live In Houston TX.If your in a Metal with originals your not going to make shit. But my friend is in a Metal cover band covering Old Metallica,Megadeath,Slayer,Ant­hrax & Pantera tunes & they do pretty good. The Cover bands that do country do extremly well. My old guitar teacher use to make anyware from $500 to $2500 a gig.

Well, you can actually do money whit music. It's hard to make money with your guitar when you're still thinking that one tomorrow you can be the new rockstar of the moment. But we live in an era where there's a lot of important schools and institutions for musicians, where you can graduate like a college and you can teach in other schools.

Making a living with music is next to impossible because everybody wants everything for free. Ever since the industry changed - name one megaband (like Led Zeppelin, Van Halen etc) without label support?

@johntg123 True. There's ways to do it.... I make instrumentals for TV and do film scores, others teach. But as far as being an ARTIST who does their own music, it's quite hard. You pretty much have to live on tour. It's more about ticket sales and merch sales than album sales. Going the indie route and self-releasing works too, i have lots of friends making money that way.... not 'house in the hills' money, but more than i expected
