  • IM 49 FROM ATLANTA AND HAVE BEEN SINGING TEARDROPS WERE PENNIES FOR FORTY YEARS

  • I have been a fan of Carl for years , I met him at the little Opry Just out side of where lived in Hudson QC, great person, was so sorry to hear he had died, I go to Franklin almost every year I should try and get to his grave and pay my respects

  • these young singers are just looking at the financial side of things. there heart is not in their songs. i'm 73 but still cherish the old time songs.

  • I love these old Carl Smith Songs. I remember listing to these on an old 78 record

play at my Aunt's house. She loved his sings 50 years ago and I still love it today.

    Thomas Ward

  • not a big fan of country. grew up listening to it, and obviously (from my user name) rebelled. but i really dig this guy.

  • I was about 10 years old when I first heard Carl Smith. I knew Hank Williams and Eddy Arnold but Carl really made an impression on me(maybe because he was new) and quickly became my favorite singer.

I wrote a letter to the CMA early in 2003 extolling Carl's merits and he was inducted that year. Was that good timing or what?

  • thats right firstpetunia im w you on that.

  • My Music

  • Carl is still, today the greatest Country Singer ever. I will always love his music and him as well. Miss him so much words can't express.

Thank you Carl for who your are.

  • After his death, I still miss his music. He was and is still the real country. Never changed his style and his voice is beyond anyone else. From the first note he sings you know who it is.

I will always love him for what he has done.

  • this song is worth so much more than PENNNIES thanks for the real thing**true country always 1uptospeed

  • @1uptospeed grat song

  • awesome awesome

  • One of my Favorites by my favorite singer. There are none today that can even be close enough to smell his exhaust.

  • Carl Smith's music was straight from the heart & real & has & will stand the test of time.He deserves to be honered & remembered & his music enjoyed. What they pass off as country & music now will be tomorrow's trash.

  • they the old c w singers were the best the singers of today are garabage dont listen to it

  • Thank you!!

  • R.I.P. Carl.You will be missed.

  • Carl Smith stands with the great ones. Back in the 50's, when there were real country singers around, Carl Smith songs were all over the top ten. He had a great voice and he had a great band. RIP Carl - we'll always love you because you were such a part of our past.

  • Singing with the angels now, rest in peace Carl.

  • Rest in Peace Carl.

  • With all respect to you firstpetunia, I have great memories as a little girl growing up ...hearing all of my Mom's favorites. She loved him as well as others..but I loved and enjoyed watching Michael Jackson perform, and he too was one of my favorites with so many to mention...I love music....thank goodness we have a wide variety to choose from. I have different moods for different music...Now, as for rap that is not one of my choices.

  • R.I.P. Carl!

  • Carl survived his second wife Goldie Hill, another great country songstress. She, however, gave up her career to raise their children. Carl, who was once married to June Carter, is the father of Carlene Carter.

  • Lawzze Me! Remember listening to this on a big old battery radio, by kerosene lights. Was he once married to Goldie Hill? Anyone know?

  • The unmistakable style of Little Roy Wiggins on steel in the background. What a combination; Carl and Little Roy.

  • I must agree, why are singers like these not remember and honored more today, this is real music, not just a bunch of jumppin around anad screamin , people like Michael Jackson are discusting.

  • Love the song !!!! 5*****s

    Dianne

  • @bassingal89 johnny cash,conway twity,hank williams,ect . are the ones to listen to

  • great and interesting

  • Great Singer, Great Song, Great Expression of Emotion, Great Back-Up, What More Could we ask for. The country music today just seems to lack what Carl Smith was doing back then. Bravo Carl, Was lucky enough to watch you from back stage at Ryman all during the summer of 1951. You used to really Wow all of us. Too Bad that those days of country music are gone forever.

  • There aren't any of the Newbies of today who can hold a candle to the Oldies sadly there aren't many of them left now

  • He is a great singer and this is a great song. He never got the recognition he should have gotten. You sure can't hear singers and music like this in the country music today.

  • GREAT*****

  • Afraid this kind of country is gone forever

except for people like you who takes the

time to share them for people like me.

    Thank you*****S

  • The first version of this song and still the best. Carl Smith could really sing back then.
