They (Walter Martin and John Ankerberg) also "double-talked" themselves, because one of the verses they quoted to try and rebuke Pacwa was Col 1:24 where Paul wrote that he SUFFERED for THEM (Col 1:24) vicarious is just a term......regardless Paul said he (Paul) suffered for the Colossians (Col 1:24) like Christ suffered for the church his body (1 Pet 4:1)

I don't think that they are being condescending. They are saying the truth: there is no scriptural base for purgatory; the Bible and the Holy Spirit are the final authority in everything. The Lord's sacrifice on the cross is all that we need. To say that sacrifice isn't enough is spitting in His face. I personally won't make that mistake, and that is why I am not a Catholic. Yep - I struggled with purgatory but Pacwa nailed it from 3.40 onwards. Amzing. Catholics have known the bible as well as aposlistic teachings for the past 2000 years. I really wish we could stop these futile arguments!

As far as the host being biased...that may be. But he certainly gives the priest a chance to respond to everything. In a debate like this in today's world, no one would get a word in edgewise. I give this show a lot of respect for that.

check out 5:05-5:10. John the host tries to catch pacwa but later is told the truth by explaining col and what it actually means, and watch johns facial reaction. Shows pacwa has a huge point that johns resourse is wrong.

What is interest here is that Ankleberg is appealing to authority, the authority of John Lightfoot. Indictating the bible is not the final authority but the interpretation of scripture trumps the literal text.
