The best show to come to ABC since NYPD Blue and the dumb asses cancelled it! I still miss Life On Mars, but the BBC version is outstanding as well! I have to give The BBC all the credit for developing this magnificent show!
ABC's life on mars was a great show to just sit down and enjoy. If they would of kept it on for 2 whole seasons, the ratings would have sky rocketed!!! Hear this ABC, you fucked up royaly cancelling this fine show. I really miss Life on Mars, I was just getting excited about prime time television again and POOF!!!! Gone!!!!! What a travesty!!!
'Surrounded by angry bastards.' Lol - that's not how it goes.
I just don't get why they felt the need to make a carbon copy of the British version, i really don't. It pales in comparisson. John Simm and Philip Glenister own these characters. It is far from being an everyday action show. The subtlety of the relationships and the complexity of the plot is what keeps you hooked.
As for the way this series ended - OMG haven't they heard of the word metaphor?
Ok, I may not say the most popular thing here, but this SHOW RULES! I Absolutely Love this show! I have never seen the BBC version, but I believe each respective series will cater to their respective audiences and countries. I enjoy British shows(MI-5, etc, shows on PBS here in the US), however this show goes deeper than your everyday action show.John O'Mara really give me a sense of being trapped in a place,he does not belong or know(& how many of us have been in situations like that)!LOVE LOM!
@drewstar412 First off, the show is called Spooks, not MI5.
Second, check out the original. Considering most of the brainless crap on prime time, it was deep, witty, thrilling, moving and just downright brilliant. You think Jason O Mara is good, you should see John Simm. He's just superb.
Also, no offence to Harvey Kietel, but Phil Glennister IS Gene Hunt.
I have read many things about MI5/Spooks. One, that the show started off as Spooks, but in the USA, that is a racial comment, so I wonder if for the USA, it was switched to MI5? I have seen DVD series in stores, Titled: Spooks, and others MI5. So maybe where you are from, it is called Spooks, not MI5, but here, there are both, but Spooks is not shown on PBS(is not known as Spooks).
True, maybe your actors were better, but I have not seen your version of LOM. I still LOVE the US version.
This is one of the best shows on TV I just love it. Had all the episodes stacked up on the dvr and finally caught up this week. Can't wait for it to return end of January.
The American version is so crappy that need a 4 minute introduction to explain the show. ABC should feel shame to manage copy and ruin the British version of Life on Mars. P.S. I live in U.K. but I am not British.

@drewstar412 Plus, the ending was INCREDIBLE. The US ending was dire.
And yea, I just checked, and they changed the name of spooks when they showed it in the US.

I totally agree with you. Thanks God the original actors turned this down, it would be seriously shameful on their part.
