  • Yo, there is an ad on the upper right corner of this web page advertising a white T-shirt that says "Had Enough?" and the U in Enough is a hammer & sickle, you know like the symbol of the Soviet Union, then it says "NOBAMA 2012" under that, i'm more interested in the blonde chick wearing it, but oh well, I guess I have had enough of a black president trying to make life better for everyone, who the fuck does he think he is? He keeps up this shit I will have health insurance in no time!

  • The Federal Gov't, acting thru the MMS, having been the regulatory body for oceanic oil exploration within our waters, has to respond to this tragedy, and they have, this "moratorium" is like damage control, but it's too late. If we keep poking the earth for fossil fuels, it's only a matter of time that the core is going to get pissed off and we are going to see some fucked up things. New slogan: "Earth: It was fun while it lasted."

  • An apology to BP? Wow, now I have seen everything......

  • Lobbyist money at work.

  • Republicans are shameless scum.

  • To all those who owe there quality of life to the use of fossil fuels, why is it so easy to demonize a single company for a disaster. You realize there is, or was, a government agency in charge of "regulating" such things known as Minerals Management Service, and failed. Plenty of blame to go around. Our tax dollars(PRIVATE citizen and Private industry) go to fund such things, roughly 40-50cents of every gallon of gas is taxes, and is blown immediately and now WE must pay again. STOP.

  • Is this guy effing serious?!!!!!

  • BP should pay for the cleanup, 100%, and they should be liable for any negligence, absolutely, but where I part with everyone else is at the $20B "slush fund" to pay for lost income?? C'mon, give me a break. We have social safety nets in this country for this stuff, i'm sorry, but I feel that Barton was correct in his assessment, you can't just ask for money every time someone fucks up something, there is insurance for these things.

  • I don't particularly care for the Republican Party or for their views, however, I feel that Barton was making a valid point: All those people that are out of work are supposed to seek UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS like everyone else, that is why they all pay (or are supposed to be paying) into the State unemployment fund before they get their check handed to them. If the Federal Gov't wants to go after BP to recover those costs, that is a separate issue.

  • @gman2000: Dude, I thought if you cause a accident shouldn't you be responsible. BP should have had some type of insurance. I think that we sue BP into bankruptcy.

  • @hiiamrick : Yes and no. BP was NEGLIGENT in their business practices, that has been proven, but what remains to be said is, what about the Federal Gov't role in all this? The Minerals Management Service? The Gov't has AT LEAST 50% blame in this. Think about this, you can't put up a sign on your front lawn unless you go to city/town/boro hall and go to the zoning board, present to them, in writing a proposal for your sign...

  • @gman2000: Dude a little history. Remember when Bushit fought the fight for deregularation and free markets. The Minerals Mang. was corrupted just like the SEG and the FDA. This is a direct result why rules must be in place to stop Big Business from killing us and themselves for some quick and easy money.

  • @hiiamrick : Then, you will have to draw the sign for them, tell them how wide by how long by how tall, what it will be made of, will it be cemented into the ground? Will it be lit with electricity? How long do you plan to keep the sign up? Will it cause a serious distraction to cars driving by? I'm not kidding, you have to sit through meetings to get this sign up. Now, here comes good old BP, they tell the MMS, Hey, we want to drill here! Is that OK?

  • @gman2000: Remember Bushit turned MMS into a bunch of whores for the quick and easy buck. While Bushit passed laws so the government could just look the other way, while the bribes were passed out . Also I know all to well about little town governments and their silly ass laws. But that is totally different.

  • @hiiamrick : The MMS bends over and says, "Hey, thats OK, drill however deep you want!" Next thing you know, BOOM! Why is it so hard for a citizen to put up a sign on their lawn, and these ppl can drill anywhere they want to, miles into the earth's crust?? Doesn't make sense, BP should pay, yes, but there is plenty of blame to go around is my point.

  • @gman2000: Dude what up with you and this sign issue? Hell when I bought a home in an upper middle class neighborhood, some of the towns folk put shit in my mail box. I know how fucked up local governments can be. If MMS did bend over it was because of all the bribes they took?

  • @hiiamrick : Allow me to respond to a question with another question: Why the fuck did someone put shit in your mailbox??? LoL

  • @gman2000: I made a shit load of money when I invested into cell phone towers early. I bought a home in an upper middle class neighborhood (mostly whites). They didn't like my skin color in their part of town. What surprised me the most, the third time some assholes pulled the shit trick. Some of my white neighbors actually helped me clean up the mess. So people are people you have good and bad in all groups.

  • @hiiamrick : LMAF, that's mess up, just because you don't listen to unintelligible metal music, you don't cut yourself, you're not obese, and you didn't get left back in Kindergarten, they pull this kind of shit on you. That's just plain wrong right there. : P

  • G.O.P. = Grand OIL Party.

  • He is one big ass kisser

  • OMG! This is the most shameless thing I have ever witnessed. Well, at least we see the true face of the Republican Party, for several other Republicans said similar things, too. I guess Republicans really do hate America, and love massive British corporations.

  • why can't we have a serial killer that targets pieces of shit like barton and cheney?

just once i'd like to have a psychopath i can root for.

  • The safety device that failed to stop the flow of oil was made in America -

It's a witch hunt - Obama doesn't want to loose face, so he whips up a hate campaign against a global oil Company director likening him to Darth Vader and everyone buys it.

BP hasn't been called British Petroleum for 15 years now, BP employs more American citizens than it does British. Half of all the share holders are American and half the dividend paid out go to US pension funds for US pensioners.

    WAKE UP America

  • If America wasn't so addicted to oil - it wouldn't need BP to drill at all

If the White House taxed gas prices enough it would reduce the amount of damaged done to the planet and it would raise billions of dollars for all those industries effected by the deep water drilling incident

but hey - America wants cheap gas so keep drilling boys - drill as deep as you can go

    MORE OIL NOW !

    WE GOT VEHICLES GOING THIRSTY

  • @SHOCKELECTRIK : I agree. The best thing we can do to stop oil from leaching into our waters ONCE AND FOR ALL is to electrify our cars and charge them with wind and solar energy. I'm just perplexed as to why a Tesla Roadster costs so much fucking money, and why we have to wait a few more years for the Model S, at $49K it's not exactly a bargain either. This technology has been around since black and white TV for God's sake.

  • No surprise here. This guy used to be a big oil executive for Atlantic Richfield. Not only that, but he's the #1 receiver in cash from big oil in political donations. This guy is a scumbag and should retire. He an apologist for big oil and multi-national corporations, NOT the everyday working people in this country.

  • no denying it that Obama shamed them but they deserved to be shamed!

  • This guy is living in a dream world...these oil clowns are destroying the entire planet, and this guy wants to apologize for making them pay for what they have done to our people and our land/ocean.

  • So can we all agree Obama is actually doing something about the spill? First it was "he isn't doing anything", now? It is "he's bullying BP" Make up your mind GOP! Which one is it? You only lay blames, but no solutions. Bunch of whiny losers! Being from texas, I wish Joe Barton will die a slow and painful death because he has brought us great shame!!

  • Stupid comment !!!

  • Winston Churchill once said "If Hitler invaded hell, I would at least feel obliged to make a favorable reference to the devil before the House of Commons." Obviously some on the Republican right feel the same way about Barack Obama.

  • Remember when the VICTIM of Dick Cheney's face-shooting APOLOGISED for being shot??? "We're so sorry you are being asked to be responsible for a miniscule fraction of the consequences of your criminally neglectful malfeasance!!!" Barton is a disgrace.

  • I am ashamed of you. You obviously have NO idea what is happening on the Gulf Coast. This is mind boggling. The Gulf Coast will take decades; DECADES to recover, if at all, and you have the audacity to defend the perpetrator AND make apologies. Un F___ believable. I have one word for you--impeach.

  • Are u serious?! What happened to accountability? This man brings great shame to the state of TX...

  • Not surprised by this at all! That is what Republicans do, standing on big corporations' side, always, from insurance companies, banks, to oil companies.

  • Joe Barton is an idiot!!

  • Hey Joe, would you let a doctor keep his job or a hospital keep running if they demonstrated that they were incapable of doing their job? If a person or company can't do it's job, shut them down. When people lose their jobs because of lack of leadership from their ceo or because the company can't cut it, then it's not the government's fault, it their company's fault, it's their leadership's fault. So stop kissing Big Oil's ass and wipe your nose clean. You are an idiot of the "first proportion"

  • When other Republicans are after you for being a oil industry suck-boy, you might have screwed up

And HE'S THE CHAIR OF THE ENERGY COMMITTEE

    Nice!

  • Those people hoping for money from bp can kiss that shit goodbye because Obama and his friends in congress are about to piss all that money away and give it to their friends and push that green agenda. I can hear Obama now "Sorry people on the gulf coast we had to use that money to make green jobs. Oh well shit happens."

  • Now Obama has a 20 billion fund to help his union and political buddies.

  • Why is it that when we are in a life boat in the middle of the ocean, it's deemed appropriate to share all of the food and resources equally, but when we step foot back on our larger life boat, 'Spaceship Earth', we the find the greedy Robber Barrons are hoarding most of our money and resources? If the senator objects to the Government forcing corporations to correct the environmental crimes they have committed, then he is one of the greedy buggers killing our planet for his own personal gain.

  • This administration seems to have no boundries on what lines it crosses, from jumping in on the banks, to moving shareholders out of the way for Unions, to Wall Street & now to shaking down BP. Do they realize this is America & that we have laws that apply to them ? BP needs to be held accountable but so does Washington, the oil damages will be gone long before we fix our DEBT thanks to our politician's. Todays hearing was another get your eyes off me ... game

  • I agree, This would open the door to more government infringement of rights. HOWEVER, here is a great example where there should be slightly different "rights" of corporate entities. BP owes the world its whole company so just close down, clean up your mess, and go home.

  • @jrc3ky what d you mean open the door. i have news for you. the PATRIOT ACT, the military commissions act, the fisa act DO infringe on our rights. problem is that people only become civil liberatarians when it is their party that is out of power. before bush was out of office people were defending waterboarding and holding people without trial. now that obama is in power, the other half of the country suddenly forgot about their rights. if that is not big government, i dont know what is.

  • @avalsonline ok my friend. I do not play the false left right paradigm. Both "Partys" are corrupt and I am assuming you already know this. Now go look carefully at what you said because it also assumes some incorrect things about me. I have been researching NWO etc. for over 30 years now. I am wide awake. Also a vet. I agree with your above statement, and it is all disgusting to me. But It is all really very old news to me. Ask me anything.

  • @jrc3ky I know both parties all took money from insurance companies, banks, or oil companies, but how come only Democrates always are the ones trying to pass laws to regulate insurance companies, banks, and oil companies, and Republicans are always the ones trying to block those laws?! Democrates took money but at least have guts to say no to big corporations, Republicans are always standing with big corporations.
