as far as I know, you don't. But then again, I didn't actually know about this and attempt to use this until mission 4[?] when it teaches you about assistance mode.

Yes you need to unlock assistance off. I'm not sure how the PC version is but if anything like the Xbox 360 then yes. You'll received a mission tutorial that shows you how to do this if you haven't done so already.

redirecting the force that pushes your aircraft forward. you move the engine thrust nozzle around to a certain extent to do that, for example, direct the nozzle downwards, and the F-35 will take off vertically.

yes. it makes them more maneuverable than conventional planes.

thrust vectoring in short is when the nozzle of the exhaust can be angled. For instance if you fly the f22 raptor and pull up you'll notice the nozzle angles up. This helps the jet turn faster because the thrust is always pushing to turn more. You can actually use the force from the exhaust instead of just air resistance to turn.

It's not from him. Sometimes your Groundunits shoot missles up on enemy planes.

And if you mean the drift:

In off mode you can "drift" , do really tight loops or thing like shown in the vid.

I hated assistance off when I started playing the game as well. But then I got used to it and I can say it's pretty awesome! The view bothered me a lot because I like cockpit views but I like it now. I will actually say that I think playing this game in assistance off on elite with the hardest control settings is the only way to play this game and love it.

Try it again. Just remember that in assistance off mode the camera stays with your target and you need to know how your plane is oriented.

That's the ponit the 1st thing i noticed when i played hawx is the fact that planes seem weightless and unrealistic compared to bf2.

Also take in count that in real life planes are not balancer war is not balanced.

2nd note BF2 takes place mostly in 1990 they did not have the missile targeting traking and guiding systems we have today(suposly when hawx takes place)

This game isnt quite what i had in mind ... but with that being said.. the co-op is really nice online.. the selection of planes isnt bad and the team deathmatch is CRAZY.. the small plane view is a lil weird at first but the more creative u are with it and the more u get used to it the more you'll love it...

The best thing to do is try the demo, its now available on all platforms. The reason people are giving it the thumbs down is because they approached it thinking it was going to be a hardcore flight sim, its's not, it's more of an arcade type of game, but it's still fun and will be great online. Give the demo a try, it's your best bet.

I think you can still pull off cool stunts and manoeuvres in 1st person with the assistance off I played the demo and tryed doing the same things with assistance on as with it off and it worked just fine, like doing drifts and things to avoid missiles. I prefer the 1st person becayse it seems more chaotic :P

On a bit different topic, Lock On is not the top of realism either, the physics engine is still fine, but it lets you skip really long procedures by not letting you to use the mouse in the cockpit.

There's a huge difference between assisted flying and forcing a player to become a bird-watcher.

Eventhough I was dying for an arcade-ish dogfighter to get me into action I halted my pre-order when I realized they would screw me out of a cockpit.

I'm still waiting for what the PC-reviews has to say, but so far it looks like a no-go.

I want to be able to stay in cockpit at all times, using my TrackIR to stay on-top of things.
