  • does anyone know the name of the song playing at 3:05?

  • Could you put an old argument to rest. Should you work abs everyday?

  • @sinfuldavy0

NO, your abs need rest days just like every other muscle group. You only need to work your abs 2 times per week.

  • just letting ye all know, the neck one, is fine to start off, but dont always do it, it will cause neck pains and spine pains (problems) in the future, stop now, it doesnt occur straight away, you can agree or disagree just letting you know.

  • @Thejohnnygmm I will have to disagree with you, though it could cause spinal and neck injury down the road, as long as you do good form and don't pull the bar with your hand and lead with your neck it's fine. I know people who've been doing them for 15+ years, and still no injury with their spine or neck.

  • good one

  • hey dude, just wondering, where are you from?

  • @zoltan10

    Newfoundland, Canada.

  • in between changing reps do u take a brake or are these back to back

  • @alonsomilon1

You can rest between exercises for a minute or two.

  • LAYYYYYLLAAAAA

  • is this all back to back with no rest period?

  • hey lee, is it ok to do the cable pull down crunches with more weight and less reps or do you recomend more reps with lighter weight? thats been bugging me for a while.

  • @lobitotavito

You can train heavier than this, but strive to get at least 10 reps with an ab exercise. Any heavier than that is kinda pointless.

  • @leemhayward thankz man

  • IM DEAF 100 REPS ONE DAY THEN NEXT DAY DO IT AGIAN 100 REPS LIKE EVERYDAY?

  • @CyraxSektor40

No, just do this workout a couple times a week at most. There is no need to work your abs everyday. They need rest days just like any other muscle group.

  • @CyraxSektor40 nahh do it 3 times per week u try to that rep every day and ur abs are not going to have time to heal

  • Layla!

  • Check out my Spartacus routine on my channel! It torches fat, and gives every one of your muscles a challenge!

  • Is this for chiseled abs?

  • @ninjakawasaki1972

The real key to getting chiseled abs is to lose the bodyfat that's covering them.

  • @leemhayward Dang.SO that means if i wanna get big it will be harder for me to get chiseled abs?

  • My gym doesn't have an ab workout machine :'(

  • @TankzCinema

look for the p90x abs routine, you don't need anything but a confortable floor to do them

  • love it when he says erm

  • I didn't know urms were a body part

  • hey i have 143 pounds and im 6.1 feet and i am doing 100 - 150 abdominal crunches,200 -300 sit-ups, every morning i go waling/running for 30 min, every evening running/walking for 30 min and in the day i ride my bicycle and jump rope 20 min twice per day. I want to know how fast can i get abs and how fast can i loose stomach fat by doing this every day

  • @TheSvinja Well 143 pounds isn't much if you're 6'1 so probably a week or 2 before you can notice your abs.

  • LEG RAISES DRIVE ME CRAZY CUZ MY LEGS END UP HURTIN SO BAD I CANT UTILIZE THE AB PART OF IT...=(

  • @HOTRODRICO

You should still do them, but try it with your knees bent until you build up the strength to do them with straight legs.

  • @leemhayward THANK YOU FOR THE TIP MR. HAYWARD

  • Hey Lee what about obliques? Target them with another 25 reps of russian twists with a weight perhaps or not? Cheers for the vid!

  • Song: Layla by Eric Clapton

  • a little off-topic :D - what's the song in the background of the 1st and 2nd exercise

  • @CyberdarkmanBG

Layla by Eric Clapton is the song.

  • How much weight should a beginner use for those pulldown and machine crunches?

  • @SeanOfHonor

The simple answer is to start off really light, and just go up by 10 pound jumps until you find a weight that makes you work hard, but still maintain good form.

  • lee do I take a rest between each 25 rep set or bang em all out with no break!

appreciate you putting up these videos man i've been fallin em since i was 15 and started to BYBench program. i'm 21 now!

  • @joltfrey I'm wondering the same thing. I typically work my abs during my "rest" period between my strength training exercises. Am I doing myself a disservice by not banging them out back to back?

  • @m4scythe

The main thing is that you work the ab muscles. The abs aren't an area that you really need to push hard like chest, back, legs, etc. You just need to stimulate the muscles and then let diet and cardio take care of losing the fat.

  • 2/3 times a week ?

lol dont you need rest like the rest of the body.. ?

  • @therealshock123

Well, 2 or 3 days a week is giving them rest... Training them 7 days a week would be taking no rest. Besides the abs are not as draining on your recovery as working larger muscles like back, legs, etc. I usually like to do shorter, more frequent ab workouts in my own training.

  • i like to do chest/back on mondays, biceps/triceps on wednesday, and than chest/shoulders on fridays. is this s good weight training routine and if so, would it be better to make tuesdays and thursday my ab days or should i add abs to the end of my other workouts?

  • @Darkcrimson123

You are forgetting your lower body... Leg training is critical to building a strong muscular physique.

  • damn my gym does not have that ab crunch machine can you suggest some alternatives?

  • Comment removed

  • where's Trish?

  • @fuzzcentralage

    She's shooting the video :-)

  • SAY WITH YOUR CHEST XD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Your Gym's tunes rock! :D

  • what bout weighted decline sit ups to failure then super set with decline un weighted

  • to much blah blah!

  • Lee, Whats the main exercise or routine to lose Body % from let say 13% down to 9% what can I do to make it happen and how long time do I need...? I workout 4 times a week! 2hr max. Thanks man!

  • @Senchy85

Your diet is what you need to focus on in order to lose bodyfat. Training alone will not cause you to lose bodyfat. I actually cover this in more detail in my Extreme Fat Loss DVD program that's available right on my website.

  • @leemhayward Thx Lee!

  • This guy looks like the brolic version of Steve-O

  • would you work your abs before or after your cardio ,instructors at my gym advise that you work you abs at the very end of you workout

  • @14southlander88

I usually do my ab training at the end of my weight training workouts. But there is no right or wrong time. The main thing is that you do it.

  • hey Lee!!! I just have a question, if I'm gunna stick to this programme, how long do you think will it take for me to get a six-pack abs?

    cheers mate!!! xD

  • @Redboy271985

That depends on how much bodyfat you have to lose. Generally you need to be less than 10% bodyfat to be able to see your abs.

  • @Redboy271985

It depends on how much bodyfat you have. Generally you need to get into the single digit bodyfat percentage in order to see your abs.

  • My ab workout:

    - 30 Reverse crunches

    - 30 russian twistes

    - 30 bycicles

    - 30 double crunches

then I repeat one more time

  • My ab workout:

    - 30 Reverse crunches

    - 30 russian twistes

    - 30 bycicles

    - 30 double crunches

  • how much time do you spend resting in between sets?

  • @RedZone2011

I'll rest about 1-2 minutes between each of these exercises.

  • i got a home gym and can't afford a ab crunch machine can i do regular crunches??

  • @ReCKlessSitUatiON

Sure, just make use of what you have.

  • hey lee i workout my abs and my arms but i started to dont feel pain...just a bit tired...i dont know how to explain...do i still build muscle? im not riped, but i have good form...

  • song at 6:52 is rolling stones: paint it black

  • Hmm, I'm not sure if I agree with that last excercise. I've always avoided machines for exercises. Couldn't you just do normal crunches instead?

  • @orochimaruisugly

I already said in the video you can do any 4 ab exercises you like.

  • Hi, i'm 16 years old and have been working out for 1 year now. I haven't really been working out hard, just enough to keep the tension on my muscles.

But now i've stopped growing (1m86 ==> 6ft1 or something like that) i wanna push forward a bit more.

So i wanted to ask : Do the leg raises have the same effect If I lay on my back with my hand under the couch to keep straight ? I don't have a local gym, the closest one is 30 minutes away and I don't have any way of transport..

    thx for the vid:)

  • @YOVTVBEjunkee

Yes, you can do lying leg raises as well, that will work your lower abs.

  • can i work my abs every day i work out

  • @palogram

2 or 3 ab workouts a week like this is plenty.

  • If you do abdominals weighted everything.

    Landing into the 6-12 Reps.

    Could you gain size?

  • ahb workout

  • hey lee ur putting ur sweaty ass on the pad where i put my stomach and thighs on when i do lat pull downs

  • i'm lost 20 pounds . From the begginging i wasn't fat but i still cant see my abs

  • @ArinOngunTV

If you still can't see your abs, it means that you still have excess bodyfat there. Simple as that. Practically everyone will be able to see their abs if they get lean enough.

  • Hey Lee excellent video's. From one Newfoundlander to another keep up the great work.

  • what the song at 3:05?

  • @mofuckinrambo layla by eric clapton. i heard some gnr 'welcome to the jungle'...pretty good music for a gym. my gym sounds like a techno dance club :/

  • @sleazebee thanks

  • what's the name of the song that plays from 6:50 to 7:15?

  • @ShirayuriSky paint it black by the rolling stones

  • About how quickly can I expect results from this ab workout routine?

  • this is cool

  • And by the way Super STritct form in my way is for the Casual Gym Lover who critics people and hate ppl in decent shape lol cause they're jalous but who cares . Sounds like a gym rat to me ; )

  • Great Vid Lee.

  • OMG! Trish has 2 heads!

  • Hello, just a question, are you supposed to do all 4 exercises without rest? or 1 minute rest after each exercise???

  • @edai 1-2 minute after each exercise, you always need rest

  • hey uuuh how much waiting time shuld ther b in between each exrcise?..or u jus go from 1 spot to the other? if u sed it in the vid then i didint hear it lol

  • most awesomest thing about the workout is Paint it black & Welcome to the Jungle by by alvin & the chimpmunks,LMAO!!

  • Lee, great video, I found it very informative, this will help me improve my current routine. Thanks!

  • This is very good info!! Thanks

  • yo lee how do you get square pecs/chest? really want that line straight down n shit

  • lol it woz funny wen u sped the leg raises up

good workout though ur lyk the mozart of bodybuilding :P

  • so if i may ask about your current diet lee, what are your calorie and carbs amounts because i'm always confused a bout how much i should be eating to stay lean yet grow

  • Great video Lee. Im going to use this starting today. Cosign the cardio.....may you have to run!

  • hey lee another great video, i also have one question: where are you now with your diet? are you back to bulking, or are you still tried to keep fat off? I'm curious

  • @Visalia13

I guess I'm somewhere in the middle. I don't want to bulk up so to speak, but I want to eat enough so that I can get train heavy and bring up my stubborn bodyparts, arms and shoulders specifically.

  • you knew just what I was thinking the 4th time you seeded up the vid

  • The word "Dieting" is spelt incorrect on the DVD

  • @t3chnoRockeR

Whoops my bad... Thanks for brining that up :-)

  • Go Lee Go!!!!

  • ill give it a shot!

  • I genuinely love your vids. They're so helpful!

    Thanks.

Btw, do you own that gym? It's always empty.

  • @MikeyNPK

It's a 24 hour gym and I usually video late at night.

  • hahaha 8:08

nice video lee keep em coming

  • hahaha 8 ;08

    great video

  • Hey Lee, saw a video of you on Youtube from back in 2008.

Dude, you are HUGE now compared to back then!! You truely practise what you preach. Keep up the good work + advice

  • do u have a rest in between or just one after the other?

  • @nisarakbari

You can take a minute or two between each exercise.

  • why does it look like your abs hav gone thru alotta hypertrophy if you say you dont really wanna build size

  • @Pr0Balla

I've got a thick torso, chest, abs, etc. But I don't want to build my mid-section any bigger.

  • That sucks that you wont be at the Olympia expo. Will you be at the superstar seminar?

  • @Boxer702

The only thing I'm going to be able to take in now is the Olympia finals on Saturday night. It sucks, but that's all I can do...

  • why did u choose pull downs standing instead of on ur knees with the rope, i dont no what its called but i assume ur gonna no what im talking about

  • @boby6

You can do the kneeling variation if you like. There are numerous ab exercises that you can do. These just happen to be 4 that I like.

  • and you finish the whole thing off with 1 minute static abs :)

  • wooo guns and roses in the background!

  • @watevalah guns n roses are dope!

  • @ 6:35 the chipmunks were working out at the gym to XD

  • i always get good tips form this guy.. how need a trainer with his vids

  • hey lee, when i do the leg raises i don't feel it too much in my abs, mainly in my upper thighs, what am i doing wrong?

  • @kadukie111 i want to know this to..i only feel it in my upper thighs

  • @kadukie111 focus only moving ur legs with ur abs instead of just lifting legs

  • @kadukie111

That's fine as well, leg raises work both the hip flexors and lower abs. If you feel it more in the hip flexors that probably means they are weaker in proportion to your abs.

  • take you shirt off without a pump

  • Awesome video Lee! Just wondering if your able to maintain those type of abs year round? By the way I'm loving the BYB Program!

  • @JohnGFitness

No, that picture was taken after a bodybuilding competition. I don't maintain that level of shape year round.

  • oh, this video came just in time.

I just started a cut yesterday and today i started working out in my abs to see the best results when I'm done, but I've never worked out my abs directly so i was kind of lost about what to do.

Oh btw, now that I'll do cardio on my cut I don't have enough time to keep working out on 2 muscle groups (as I always do) so I what should I do? less sets for both muscle groups? or cut off a muscle group or cut off cardio? I'm on a 700cal deficit btw.

    Thanks.

  • The sped up music for the pulldown crunches is brilliant hahah

  • thanks

  • 4:45

    Neck spontaneously regenerates.

  • @zeldahater1 thats kinda funny lol

  • so will this ab workout not only help define my abs... but it will strengthen my core as well right say for sprinting and jumping?

  • @BEYONDILIMIT

This will work the abdominal muscles and help strengthen your core, but to get the definition you need to lose bodyfat.

  • weaystloine :)

  • Lee Hayward FTW!!! (and for an awesome body)

  • good stuff man but ive been working my abs... and not just a little i get in like 3 times a week going hard but i have extra skin on my lower stomach because once upon a time i was overweight and no matter how much i workout my lower abs are covered by a layer of skin

  • lee, does resistence add sice to the abs, or does it just make it to where you will sometimes burn out faser, also, you said you dont want to add size to the abs, is that due to not wanting to get distended abs? thanks again.

  • I can't believe they play Layla by Dereck and the Dominoes (with Clapton) in your gym... mine is pretty much just euro trance from 2001

  • @ibanezbloke

9 out of 10 times they are playing the classic rock station at the gym. Some of it's good, but every now and then I like to listen to music that's younger then I am :-)

  • @ibanezbloke my its a radio station that plays 10 songs all the time, lady gaga and shit

  • @ibanezbloke I wish my gym played some real music !

  • CLAPTON!

  • Hey Lee, great vid!

I was wondering if you ever tried vacuuming your abs?

I was looking at it and going to start doing 100 vacuums a day, try get my waist nice and tight

oh and.....we love you man!!!! =p

  • @ethanomglolz What do you mean? vaccuming?

  • @thatstheguy07 it's an old school bodybuilding technique used to really tighten the fascia I think (the membrane around your muscle that makes it stay in place),

you basically stand up, hands on a desk, big breath in, and sharply exhale all the air in your diafram and your abs will feel solid, you can also suck your diafram in while the air is exhaled, this is called vacuuming your abs =]

  • @ethanomglolz Aha, I see! Thanks for the reply.

  • @ethanomglolz with a freakin vacuum cleaner? the sucking thing? if i`m right this is the 1st time hearing it and i assume it`s stupid

  • @RealDefentertainment LOL.....no you don't get a vacuum cleaner and put it on your abs, you'll just get a pink belly doing that, google it or read the comment I gave the other guy

  • @ethanomglolz

It's good to practice this, I like to do this a lot when dieting for a competition.

  • you have no neck lee haha

  • @06livefast

WTF... where did it go??? LOL

  • @leemhayward ahahaha like Jeebs from Men in Black ahaha

  • Good video lee, Much appreciated

  • Thanks =]

  • the speedup looks funny xD

  • @Eistroll0Wie0

    I knew you'd like it :-)

  • First Comment!
