  • I first heard this song when The Accused covered it....

  • had a big ass sider in my back yard , he used to lounge and i use to blow bong hits to him!!! i miss boris!!! fucking gardner!!! asshole fuck!!

  • My dad loves this...used to listen to it with my Uncle every day for years !!

  • Our band played this back in the 80's, it was a crowd favorite.

  • FIRST FUCKIN DEATH GROWL

  • Such a great song! It reminds me of: walkwithwonder .co. uk

  • My Grandpa once had a pet spider in which he named Boris.

  • @ninjaCHOPtoDAface i bet my ass has more taste in music than you

  • @overdriven77 Your entire musical taste is comprised of Dadrock brah

  • Hehhee..."endured"....way too cool for words. Endured, indeed :)

  • Love that reverb on Pete's guitar at the end.

  • John had a couple of tarantulas: Doris and Boris. I think Doris ate Boris. This is a great tune to play whilst watching "Eight-Legged Freaks."

  • Wonder if the Spider Protection League were operational in the 1960s

  • this song is so fucking cool......plus the very first growl ! ....love it

  • and so death metal was invented

  • @MrZshosh fuck death metal

  • sadface poor spider! DX

  • jhon entwistle= master of the bass and the first voice of death metal

  • As my parents knew this song, I grew up calling wolf spiders 'Borises'. So every time there is one in the house, I always go, 'there's a boris!'

  • @MaverickJimBob hahaha

  • @MaverickJimBob My little brother grew up with me listening to The Who... he also does that

  • 8 persons has Boris on wall.

  • I heard this in the background for some spider toy ad today :D

  • Great song, however the info on here is incorrect..."Whiskey man" was the first song he wrote for The Who...he came up with "Boris the Spider" when Townsend asked him about the 2nd song he had written for the Album "A Quick One"...it's all in the book "Before I get old, the story of The Who"...

  • @PatOShea I just typed out the info that was in the CD-booklet for A Quick One. Townshend with an h by the way. (sorry I could not not do that :)) Did you know John thought of the idea for Boris The Spider when he was talking with Bill Wyman (The Rolling Stones bassist) about names for animals ;) And John was actually VERY scared of spiders when he was young :) hehe

  • I loved this song when my dad played it for me when I was a kid and I had to look it and I love it

  • Great song, classic song, timeless song, BUT, a bit overrated compared to John's others, like Had Enough, Success Story, 905, and Cousin Kevin.

  • If I was a spider I'd want my name to be Natasha.

  • This song used to freak me out, circa 1970, as a small child

  • First off, I LOVE this track - Fuggin' CLASSIC, M8 !

Secondly... i found out some missing lyrics to this song and goes a lil' something like this... "Maestro, if you will..."

What's this seepin' out me arse ?

Feels like tiny sherds of glass !

    Shootin' out like ASS-ter-oids,

    Rippin' up me Hem-or-rho-ids...

    Ja-la-pe-ño Pep-pers !

  • Happy Birthday John! You are terribly missed and terribly needed in this talentless world. Happy birthday once again Thunder Fingers!

  • What's for tea daughter?

  • BORIS THE SPIDER

  • thats just one though I kill black widows all the time as say Fry Boris so nameing them does not always work

  • Haha:"D Boris the spider is in our English book:"D

  • I wonder how meny Inocent spiders where kiled bye this little Ditty

  • @chism26 what? my mom names all the spiders I find boris. and then she can't kill them so she has to take them outside.

  • A song about delirium tremens in 1966. These guys started early into the heavy drinking routine.

  • omg i <3 boris the spider

  • this is where i came from :)

  • Entwistle was a man who didn't fuck around. He'll be remembered forever.

  • This song is a perfect example of The Who. With a humourous plot and dark sound, it's definitely John Entwhistle at his best. To top that, the bass line is very simple. This might be one of the best songs The Who made.

  • Pete Townsend and Rodger Daltrey always gave credit to their band mates. Keith and John were always as important if not more. John Entwhistle defined bass for an entire generation. Keith Moon's drumming has never been beaten. Mimic's, but never reproduced.

  • Br00tal vox, d00dz.

  • believe it or not it's considered one of the first death metal songs

  • The who has some pretty crazy death metal

  • how did they its a He ?

  • @soumyaaymous Because the spider had "balls" enough to be in his room. lol. I bet boris doesn't have the guts to go there again. (Go ahead, boos are welcomed, as well as groans.)

  • wikipedia pretty much says this is the origin of death metal vocals..and if wiki says it, IT MUST BE TREW

  • @ES1sub lol..i bet u wrote tht in wiki :P

  • @ES1sub haha thats why i looked up ths song haha

  • @ES1sub but in this case it might actually be true for once

  • And hence kids , demo of death metal growl was finally shaped from this song....

Also childrens , the bass you hear is called some wicked ass bass playing...now shut up and listen to the gem !!

  • Abbath!

  • John Entwistle invented death metal !

  • @Iantorchwood94 That was Chuck Schuldiner, actually.

  • awesome. what a great song.

  • esa vos tan fea

  • @queresestilo JAJAAJ TE ASUSTO? jaajaj

  • Listen to this high. lol

  • I consider this song the song that started death metal..!

  • @bruceleerules747 Why? Because Wikipedia say it?

  • @nikagandofacho I actually didn't know that wikipedia did....

  • @nikagandofacho Wikipedia, LOL! If it's not in Brittanica, it's not true! That's why Twitter doesn't exist.

  • @bruceleerules747 No, sir.

  • last time I listened to this song I went home and there was a spider in my bathtub. Coincidence? I think not!

  • Comment removed

  • 4 guys don't like spiders :)

  • @a1stooge vinnie jones rite there!.... classy stuff

  • Love this song.

  • and thus death metal is born

  • @happyface4444 WOW, YOU ARE RIGHT! NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THIS SONG THAT WAY, BUT THE MAJOR INFLUENCE IS ALL OVER IT........Stupid cat hit caps, sorry folks, too tired to retype all that, and dare not risk possible spelling errors for which i am famous for, or is it infamous.

  • the who doing gutteral screams???? ohh werddd lol the first hxc song

  • im suprised the replay button isnt broken

  • This song makes me ridiculously happy...

  • this is the first song ever in which growling was first used \m/

  • @93omair not really. check out "I put a spell on you" by Screamin Jay Hawkins in 1956

  • @North25thStreet i guess you found out about this too

  • John Entwhistle was by far an underrated songwriter. Pete Townshend get's all of the credit for the Who's success but this is an example of a great song written by Entwhistle.

  • @Burbridge92 Switch the Entw'h'istle's h to the Towns?end ;)

  • @Grafietstift ???

  • @Burbridge92 well you're right.....but towshend is god when he wrote songs

  • @juan13579run No one's going to deny that, it's true, and it's impossible to overlook Townshend. Unfortunately it's all too easy to overlook Entwhistle.

  • this song reminds me of Halloween

  • this song is so retarded.... but i LOVE it! :D

  • This just a theroy but I think this song is really about a drug dealer!

  • @Christinacolasanto elaborate, please...

  • @Christinacolasanto No, I'm pretty sure it was written about a spider. :)

  • @Christinacolasanto I'm sorry but i usualy dont see drug dealers climbing my walls and hanging from them by a little thread and they cant be crushed with books, am i right?

But some of them are black and hairy

  • @TheWhoForEverAndEver - I know, I was thinking in the terms metophoricly. Drug dealers are seen as preditors, animals that destory for their own gain that drain others life forse till they are dead.(Like a spider drinking an insects blood) i dont personally see it as so black or white- just posing a theory.

  • @Christinacolasanto Boris doesnt stalk anyone in this song and HE is destroyed, so you missed the point.

Dont look at everything metophoricly, becouse sometimes maybe the author realy wanted to write a song about a spider.

Croatian writer Dobriša Cesarić wrote a song about a cheery tree that was beutiful in summer and ugly in winter and people tought that he was talking about a man, so when they asked him what was it about, he said go to the window and look.

    The cheery tree stood outside.

  • @TheWhoForEverAndEver

Even if the writer doesn't want to give the song or story a metophoric meaning, it doesn't mean that the song doesn't have one, there's always a hidden meaning in everything you say, sing, write or do, even if you don't give it one on purpose.

  • @Villalistico180 I must agree with you, well said
