President Obama diverted the legitimate anger and energy for real change and scuttled it under what has become known as the fraudulent tent of the Democratic Party. He led millions to the cliff, and they are now falling off in droves. Those who have not quite gotten to the edge now yell: "Wait! Give him time!"
Those who gave warning from the onset are not busy casting nets, and they welcome the demise of our Democratic Party. President Obama has given our Democratic Party a terrible legacy that will live on for many years to come. Universal healthcare is an important issue for all Americans. You must remember that this is not just an issue about "your" health insurance and "your" healthcare but about those who don't have healthcare coverage. It is completely unacceptable that people are bankrupted by healthcare costs and it's something that is entirely avoidable. Universal Health care is a Western concept that has been in place through most of the developed world for much of the 20th and 21st centuries. In fact a number of developing countries have a similar structure of government-assisted health care plans in place and such plans across the board are working progressively.

And I'm one of the ones who commented here in agony but I also have no insurance, have worked in a hospital, have been raised by a health care worker, and have 2 chronic health care conditions - and I know that forcing me to buy insurance that costs more than I pay for specialists, meds, etc cash out of pocket now? That's no good. This bill makes things worse for a lot of us. Even Dems can see that if they know the medical field.

Universal healthcare is an important issue for all Americans. You must remember that this is not just an issue about "your" health insurance and "your" healthcare but about those who don't have healthcare coverage. It is completely unacceptable that people are bankrupted by healthcare costs and it's something that is entirely avoidable. Besides, I think it's ill informed and nonsensical to oppose healthcare reform as I'm sure everyone here would only benefit from free increased coverage!

Universal Health care is a Western concept that has been in place through most of the developed world for much of the 20th and 21st centuries. In fact a number of developing countries have a similar structure of government-assisted health care plans in place and such plans across the board are working progressively.

Where in the world is government run health care working? All I see are countries going deeper and deeper into debt. There is only one country that is not going into debt and they have billions of oil revenues controlled by their government and that is Sweden. The oldest "social" medical program is the British system and it is failing badly and was started during WWII.

portlanddem, I think you misunderstood. Private insurers only run your healthcare if you buy their plan. That is an option. The government wants to force us to buy into their plan. There is nothing free or optional about it. If you want real competition, just allow the healthcare borders to be opened up. It is that simple. The government needs to get out of the way. The government ruins everything it touches.

No, opening up the state borders will not bring real competition into it. The private insurance industry will inherit 48 million more customers, but 48 million who HAVE to purchase from THEM--they'll be salivating at the fraud on their side here!!

Any insurer can deny coverage. Car, Home, Etc. for various reasons. What is your point? If you want additional catastrophic health coverage, GO BUY IT! If you do not prepare, it is YOUR FAULT. When did health insurance become a right? The only entity forcing us into financial ruin is our govt. Why don't you google the average cost of health insurance per state, and the number of insurance companies in those states and get back to me on competition.

First of all, I don't buy for a minute that this is going to improve healthcare. I'm sure that for a short time, poor people will be able to take advantage of some care, but the weight of the poor will tear the whole industry down and the government with it. There simply is no way to pay for all this. We can't keep going deeper and deeper in dept as a country. Not unless we are planning to be overthrown. Are we?

Where in the world is it working? All I see is countries going deeper and deeper into dept. There is only one country that is not going into dept and they have billions of oil revenues controlled by their government and that is Sweden. The oldest "social" medical program is the British system and it is failing badly and was started during WWII.
Please tell me about the one's that work. 100 you say? Just tell me about 5. or 4. Oh heck, just give me 1 that isn't going into dept. besides Sweden.

Then 150 years later they made the Bill of Rights, and you forgot the Constitution of the United States. More importantly, Universal Health Care is un-constitutional. Those 500,000 calls to Congress from the taxpayers pushing for this, was NOT for what the senate is offering!!!
Secondly, not only are republicans pushing against this, these so-called "blue dog" dems like Max Baucus are too!
Lastly, if this passes the way the Senate is pushing for, this would NOT be something "we could all be proud of". The only ones that would be "proud" are members of Congress, and the private health insurance companies!

I'm a die hard Dem. I keep a blog online that supports that. And I'm one of the ones who commented here in agony but I also have no insurance, have worked in a hospital, have been raised by a health care worker, and have 2 chronic health care conditions - and I know that forcing me to buy insurance that costs more than I pay for specialists, meds, etc cash out of pocket now? That's no good. This bill makes things worse for a lot of us. Even Dems can see that if they know the medical field.

Why does not wanting to be forced to buy insurance when it costs more than my rent due to my multiple no cure so will be life long chronic conditions make me a Republican? In my situation insurance costs 2k a month where as expensive meds and specialists costs on a bad month 1k. I'm actually for medicare for all kind of reform. We're not gonna get that, I know. I'm not for mandates though. It doesn't take into account the sick people insurance companies don't want, we're screwed.
