Well I finally bit the bullet and bought one. Love it. After driving over 30 different vehicles for over 3 months, I got it. It rides like a limo, the back seat has more then enough room for basket ball players knees, you would have to be 8 feet tall to touch your knees to the backs of the seats! It stops on a dime compared to everything else. There by far is nothing that compares to this! This is my first Ford after years of being a GM hound and bugging anyone who bought a Ford. Now I eat crow!
seriously ... design is a range ropver rip-off... but other than that it looks pretty nice... not bad at all.. and a nicer interior for the usual american crappyness...

Why not? That appears to be what the designers of this car did, when they traced over a SCion Xb, then ran it through a copier at 121% enlargement. I guess the Ford corporate brown-noser middle management had to blame someone for the gas price increase, so they fired the chief Engineer from the Flex project. how stupid is that, politically? I mean even if you think the project leader screwed the pooch, at least move him to special projects or independant contributor....Don't admit failure! DUMB!

Yes that relaunch last year went a bit better than it's FIRST launch in 2006, (when it was called the 500). Or the "new" Focus or the "new" F-series launch thats been delayed? swapping plates on a sheet metal press isn't Japan's idea of a new vehicle launch, and the American car-buying public is no longer willing to give ANY OEM a free pass.
For those not paying attention, Ford's last several model launches have been nearly flawless, and all of their new models are on par with Honda and Toyota according to JD Power and other industry quality ratings. I love how the haters come out of the woodwork and spout off about how bad Fords are because their dad had a 78 Granada that was a POS so everything must be the same now.
If you don't like the Flex, that's fine but the doom and gloom quality comments are at least 10 years out of date.
Then, when they don't make their quota, they'll pile on the incentive for the '10 model year, and alienate all of the '09 Flex buyers. Of course by that time, the gas prices will have Ford scrambling to retrofit a 4cyl eco-boost engine in it, since the city mileage is going to still be in the teens....I hope FMAC is ready to ofer sub-prime loans on these, cause the only folks that will buy them are those that get turned down at the Asian dealerships.

If Ford thinks they are going to sell 100K of these at anywhere NEAR 30K, they are (still) on drugs. This is the first attempt to use the Taurus X platform on a truckish SUV, and you can BET the 1st year problems will be lengthy.
i thought he was going to like take it apart in some kind of 3d fashion thing. the car is nice clean as he said but its still a ford. are they better than the explorer they suck all other fords are ok but not the explorer. it seems to be made of left over parts from the other ford cars. i guess thats why its the explorer, they were exploring the possibility if making something of their scrap parts..lol

1 - no amber yellow light on the back taillight for turning sign...
2 - wrong gas in hole on the right side while left side driver...
