How did all that smoke get into the basement if the fire was upstairs? I always thought the heat and smoke make their way upwards and not down. A fire across the street from me last month was on the second floor and there wasnt any smoke coming from the 1st floor when they went in.
Hi there great video i like it a lot, but let me ask you something, i have seen a lot of movies about the american firedepartment, but why they dispatch so many tankers to a house fire i have seen 4mor 5 in this movie.
I live in the netherlands and here we send 2 tankers and a ladder and an officer could you explain that for me please?
@marcelrotgans In this area, some locations have hydrants and some don't. That why some calls have the tankers. However numerous companies in this area have combined apparatus. Instead of having an engine and a tanker, several companies now have engine/tankers as their first line engine.
@irons22man I think he is associating tankers and engines as the same thing. In response to your question @marcelrotgans , in America, we dispatch 4-5 engines on house fire because we do so much interior attack, unlike Europe, as well as many other assignments for "extra" apparatus, such as RIT, or Rapid Intervention Team to rescue potential downed firefighters. Hope that helped Marcel.
@lvfd1078 Well we are originally called for Rapid Intervention Team on calls in Company 20's first due. So we do a lot of outside work initially when we arrive on the scene. However, we were assigned different tasks on this call when we arrived. I also look at it like, with the mask on when you arrive on the scene you might miss a lot. Your mask steams up and blocks your vision of the outside of the building or house. You might not see important information about the fire and/or it's conditions.
0:33 GET OFF YOUR CELL PHONE. Tell your friends you can't go to the mall. Someones house is burning and your on your cell phone not worrying about what you need to get in order to fight this house fire. Omg my officer would have a cow if he saw us on our phones on the way to a working fire.
@RBFF123 she's probably texting all of her friends...OMG I'm going to a house fire!!!....I agree with you..if you're going to a working fire, there are better things to be worrying about such as planning for your assignment and listening to the radio for updates.
Why in the hell did it take them so freaking long to get in ther and knock that fire down? That was a little piss ant fire. A lot of smoke but very little fire. Its called getting aggressive, you can still be very safe but be aggresive. Thats what firefighting is all about.
My chief thinks that NFPA is the bible and has shoved all this crap down our dept. throats. He finally got his chance to assume command on a call in fire at a local church, needles to say the church is no longer with us thanks to our wonderful chief and all his bright ideas. This guy had never been in charge of a fire scene before, he went from inspector to chief, he also took a 27yr old firefighter with a 1 1/2 yrs. on and promoted him to training officer.
would it be Really Diffrent if the Videos than the Actual thing, like, i thought mabey if see what goes on, we would know what comes up and expect, then when time come, helps us know what if feels like.. ?
You want to see a video of what a fire is like on the inside? Am i reading that right? Cause, dont know about you, but fires from the inside, at least ones that are worth a shit are to dark to see your hand in front of your face. If you want to know what it feels like. Turn your oven up to its highest setting, let it warm up, close your eyes and open the door. That heat wave that you feel is what its like. No video can replace or prepare you for your first fire.
This was one of the best videos i've seen yet. Shows different views during response. Shows crew. It also shows the interior attack and overhaul. Great job.
Wow, I'm not a firefighter yet, But I really want to be one, and this video was great! Helps me to know what it looks like inside a burning building, and it looks a lot scarier than the movies make it seem lmao. I can't wait.
This is not typical of what the fire looks like inside a house fire. That fire in the kitchen, looks more like a training fire in a house burn. We just caught that fire breaking through the wall at the right time. That does not happen too often.
Yea. Not too long ago we were doing this one game(for fun, since we're only cadets) where we have to find a dummy that they hid somewhere in the firehouse(it could be under the trailer on a wall or under a rig lol), but we had to have our nomex(sp?) hoods over our faces so we couldn't see. It wasn't easy at all lol. More fun though right?
It is mainly for a media project. Some footage will be use for our new website that is almost ready. Some of the other footage is used for our Banquet Videos that we do each year now. Other footage is utilized for training purposes and also for fire prevention visual aid.

@TheWaynelds the fire extended down the back porch area and allowed smoke to enter the basement from the rear windows.

come on man, thats a little bit of nit picky.

@irons22man better yet, name 1 nfpa rule. theyre all guidelines, nothing is set in stone.
CTFD13 11 months ago
Don't you know that what NFPA names a rule is always the harder way to do things. Never the easy way out. Either way the fire gets put out.
