  • First, I'm not dispensing medical advice, just sharing what I have learned about T.

Second, threatening response? I am quite the pacifist, and have yet to "threaten" anybody here on YT. I'm a little past the childish stage of making threats I have no way of following through on online.

  • @DominoAyeJae lol i meant to put thumbs up

  • Thanks alot man on all your vids... they help alot... im moving back to Texas from Cali and im a little uneasy bout it. but yea... thanks alot

  • I highly recommend Androgel, though, especially to start out on. I didn't have any crazy mood swings or acne, and the initial changes happened slowly and steadily, so it was nice to ease into it. Not sure what my T count is, but I know that it's the "average amount for an adult male". The only problems - expensive (about $400 w/out insurance), I'm really worried about my gf being affected, even though we take all the proper precautions. and it's a pain to remember it, especially on vacation.

  • Hey man, my internet hasn't been kind lately...can't seem to upload vids. Anyway - it's been a month and a half on Androgel, and I'm pretty pleased with it. The effects are taking awhile (but I expected that) - my voice is lower, but still sounds fairly feminine, I definitely have more body hair, but it's mostly blond. I just got a script for injections, and I'm thinking this will be good. My body is used to T now, but I'm ready for some bigger changes.

  • in case someone couldnt understand what the name of the place was its Strohecker's Pharmacy

  • I have been on the oral testosterone (Andriol) since the first week of November. It is very expensive. In ontario its a controlled substance so they can only give you enough for 1 month at a time. I am only on the oral testosterone for 3 months then I am going to injections. My doctor said he puts his patients on Oral first so that it isn't such a shock to your body. Each pill is 40mg and I am directed to take 3 a day (2 in the morning with breakfast and 1 with dinner)

  • Anyways, just thought I would share that since you said you didn't know too much about it, only what you could research.

  • Oh I forgot to tell you the price. Its $105 each month (thats for 90 pills)

Also, changes are fairly slow, check out my channel.

  • MasonRyan25 , everything i've heard about oral T is that it is hell on your liver. I had an FTM friend who got majorly ill after about 4 months... of course he was a drinker.

  • Yeah the most I am going to be on it is 2 months because after a long period of time its hard on your liver.

  • if anyone is interested nebido is every 3 months. If you get private prescriptions as opposed to NHS ones (in the UK) it is quite expensive costing over £100 per 3 months as opposed to around £30 per 3 months for Sustanon. (obviously if you get prescription its the same) gel, patches and tablets also more expensive not sure of cost though.

  • Aye man, big props on all your vids. I'm just now starting the Transition process. I'm almost done with therapy. What was the pharmacy you mentioned in Portland? Ive heard one of my friends talk about it too. Thanks man

  • i dont mean to go off topic on ur video, and i dont know if u have posted a video yet but can u post a video titled emotions with 't'. because the boy with the youtube account called mytrucolours91 made a video called 'video diary: boys DO cry'. so do you think you could do the same. thnx

  • Thank you for doing these videos because it helps me a lot. I'm just starting out on transitioning and have no idea where to turn. I just made my intro video but really sounded like a very nervous girl.

  • i'm taking the pill, i take 2 everyday with food. i've been on t for 4 months now and the changes havn't been that dramatic, my voice is a little deeper and i have more hair and muscle, thats about it. my doctor wanted to start me on the pill because it is slower and less of a shock to the body and i think in a few weeks i'll be starting the injections, so hopefully i'll get some more changes!!!

  • Could you share some information on the monitoring you and your doctor are doing on your liver enzymes? :)

  • i was on the shot for 3 yrs and just switched over to the gel. my ins. covers it so i pay 2$ more and prefer it to a shot any day. my results have been great so far, maybe its because i have no lull in my cycle. its a bit of a pain in the ass leaving it on, but after 2 hrs i can go swimming or wash it off for some intimate contact. i'd also like to point out that injecting for a lifetime is also not ideal due to scar tissue & risk of infection. also keep in mind the gel has a unique smell

  • what would you compare the smell to?

  • sweet chemical musk or strong laundry detergent is what my mom and g/f say, but you once its been on and you have cloths on its not that noticeable. it bothered me the first few days but now i'm used to it.

  • If taking pills (oral) are so rare and unnecessary, why do they even have it and make it so expensive?

  • Testosterone is really difficult to deliver orally because of breakdown mainly in the liver and other places. It is very complex to formulate it in a way that doesn't damage the liver. buccal (it does dissolve) and sublingual are not as heavy on the liver. But still difficult to formulate. Injections are easier to make. The easier something is to make the cheaper it is.

  • what's the compounding pharmacy in portland called?

  • Strohecker's

  • I started on gel too. Once a day, but still a pain in the ass. My changes happened extremely fast on it, but I was on the largest dose. Things happened much slower once I switched to injections. On the gel my voice dropped in the first 4 days. I think it really depends on your BMI with topical T, I think my body fat percentage was around 9% at the time, and I think I'm around 12% now. BMI doesn't appear to be a big factor with injectable thankfully. Great vid series though!

  • your vids have ben really helpful man

  • Thanks so much for posting this, it was very informative!

  • The pellets seem to come out a lot (infection/rejection) and the Dutch doctor I talked to dstopped prescribing them because they're a pain.

  • Sometimes I have no problems what so ever with the needles or injecting and other times it can take me up to 20mins to do the shot, and I have pain. I'm not sure why....

  • right there with ya. sometimes its a non issue, sometimes I give up and make a friend do it.

  • is it true trhat testosterone shortens ur life span?>

  • @desibabii1 Men usually live shorter than women. So if you use T to become male, you get the same risks as biomales in certain respects (higher risk of coronary disease and stuff like that). So, being a man shortens your lifespan ;)

  • Some of that short lifespan may be risked to sociological factors, more than biological ones. Men in our culture are socialized to take more risks with their health and be a lot harder on their bodies than women, so we may be more biologically equal than statistics seem to tell us...

  • I could watch you talk all day.

  • you rock ty, thanks

  • Informative, clear, and absolutely awesome. Thank you for making this, all of the FAQ videos.

  • Great videos Ty! Thanks for spending your time on this, take care.

  • I tried those pills, damn expensive

    I was taking them 1-morn 1-eve for 2months

    not even the least changes

  • I spoke to my endo about the pellets under the skin and he said that the pellets dont get replaced. They have to make another incision every time so over a period of 50 years on T you would have over 100 scars!

As for the new injections I am on, Nebido, which is still fairly expensive but is more easily managed than gel and keeps your levels much more stable unlike Sustanon 250 which I didn't find very stable myself. As far as I am aware it's not available in the US either.

  • damn it,,,, I meant to talk about Nebido as well.... fail...

So they don't ever take the pellets out? I find this hard to believe. I will have to ask. If thats the case...I dunno if Im ok with that.

  • The pellets, certaintly the ones we have in Britain are encased in wax so they dissolve over time but they don't cut you back open where the scar is and insert another one, they just make a new incision. If Nebido doesn't work for me I have no other options left but being one big giant scar which I am not OK with at all.

  • @DominoAyeJae

Hey dude I worked in a hospital and we had one patient who had the pellets inserted every now and again - they dissolve I'm pretty sure so don't need removing if that's what you were meaning?? Sorry if not... Also I swear we used to open up the old scar - at least like a few times!

  • It's actually really interesting that T is so hard on the liver when taken orally, because if it's the case that all hormones are hard on it then think about all women on the pill.. One thing is a lot of hormones just pass though, and seep out into nature, which really isn't that great.. I wonder if that's the case with non-oral stuff, because otherwise they should make women take shots instead, and stop feminizing the fishies.. hehe..

    Great initiative doing these vids!

  • How long does a bottle last and what's the cost of one? Thanks for making your FAQ vids. Lots of terrific info. Bravo once again.

  • A bottle for me lasts 3 - 3.5 months give or take. I pay 2$ a bottle, I get it through a state funded program.

  • Wow that's a friggin' great deal. What state is this? That makes sense-I suppose the bottle lasts according to how much T ya gotta supplement yer body. Happy New Year!

  • I'm in Pennsylvania. Yeah, I wish everyone could get it this cheap! Ask your therapist or doctor if there are any programs for discounted supplies where you live. Happy New Year!

  • @feelix111 have you been to mazzoni center in philadelphia?

  • No, I have not been there. I'm about 4 hours or more west of Philly.

  • There are a lot of factors affecting cost: what you're getting, where you're getting it, whether you're getting brand or off brand or whatever, how often you have to get a script refilled... I think the highest I've seen is a guy paying $150 every six months... I don't remember what method he was using or anything though.

  • @darkphoenixbc touche man

  • Never heard of oral ... cheers for the video, very informative. I'll stick to my injections though haha
