I never even heard of street kids when i was living in Nigeria only homeless adults and crazy adults but never kids. It's recently i've heard of them. People told me they are refugee in Nigeria(if that's true, people really need to help them) like the Tuareg tribe in Nigeria that are refugee from Mali. It pains me when i first saw them begging in the street in lagos(So sad, next time i go back to Naija i'll hire one for some job, just to help out and also some of these street kids).
Living in the U.S. I am accustomed to seeing churches and organizations that feed hungry and homeless people. America has its share of that group of people as well. Many people donate to these organizations. There are times when the Post Office has food drives and leaves bags for families that has some surplus to put canned goods in those bags and the postal carrier will pick them up. This food is then sent to various food pantries etc to help the poor. I think Nigeria needs to do this, too.
We do have it. Majority are churches, but for some reason many of those churches collects money and send it to places like Sudan , Liberia, Congo, etc. Though i agree we should help other African countries, i always believe charity starts at home. We should take care of our own people first before helping others.

when i stayed in Jos, which is northeast of lagos, i saw and took care of so many kids whose parents have plenty of money from scams and 419 and things but the kids orphans basically, because the parents don't want them. How sad. One girl, Jemeema, her mother is building a HUGE church in Jos, but jemeema goes hungry often because her mother doesn't care. What a tragedy. What are americans doing to help? Ignoring it and thinking it will go away???

Sometimes how these kids end up on the streets is that their parents send them to live with relatives,who treat them badly,so they run away.Some kids also come from neighboring countries to beg on the streets.There are even some that run away from home,not because they are being maltreated,but because they are looking to make it 'big',and when they are returned home,they run away again,back to the streets.

I have posted videos about what the evil, horrendous, economic sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe, a country without any nuclear weapons! Anything horrendous to the child of Nigeria, affects the child in Zimbabwe. I never even heard of street kids when i was living in Nigeria only homeless adults and crazy adults but never kids. It's recently i've heard of them. People told me they are refugee in Nigeria(if that's true, people really need to help them) like the Tuareg tribe in Nigeria that are refugee from Mali. It pains me when i first saw them begging in the street in lagos(So sad, next time i go back to Naija i'll hire one for some job, just to help out and also some of these street kids).

Living in the U.S. I am accustomed to seeing churches and organizations that feed hungry and homeless people. America has its share of that group of people as well. Many people donate to these organizations. There are times when the Post Office has food drives and leaves bags for families that has some surplus to put canned goods in those bags and the postal carrier will pick them up. This food is then sent to various food pantries etc to help the poor. I think Nigeria needs to do this, too.

We do have it. Majority are churches, but for some reason many of those churches collects money and send it to places like Sudan , Liberia, Congo, etc. Though i agree we should help other African countries, i always believe charity starts at home. We should take care of our own people first before helping others.

when i stayed in Jos, which is northeast of lagos, i saw and took care of so many kids whose parents have plenty of money from scams and 419 and things but the kids orphans basically, because the parents don't want them. How sad. One girl, Jemeema, her mother is building a HUGE church in Jos, but jemeema goes hungry often because her mother doesn't care. What a tragedy. What are americans doing to help? Ignoring it and thinking it will go away???

Sometimes how these kids end up on the streets is that their parents send them to live with relatives,who treat them badly,so they run away.Some kids also come from neighboring countries to beg on the streets.There are even some that run away from home,not because they are being maltreated,but because they are looking to make it 'big',and when they are returned home,they run away again,back to the streets.
