It's hard for me to say this but so far VS hasn't been as exciting since the Prologue. I really liked Askeladd and Thorfinn back then and I loved the idea of them plundering and having adventures. The cat and mouse game with Thorkell and the political battle with Sweyn were just jawdropping. But now Thorfinn has become a much more boring character and Canute has become the character I want the story to focus on.

But there is a big battle coming up so things should get really good soon =D

one thing that sucks about it not having an anime (yet) is that there are people like

my bro who would probably enjoy it but aren't really avid readers. Especially not

when it's unlicensed and the only way to read it is online. Of course free manga is

always a plus but it's nice to have it in book format. One thing for sure is that when the manga is licensed it's going on my book shelf. :)

@DaddyWarbucks452 Well it's true it's a manga about Vikings. Though it's historical fiction. Kinda like Gladiator for example (in that they are both historical fictions). Even so it looks like the author did his research.

@lebrisson No Vikings are very much real (or at least were). That's why I used Gladiator as an example. Gladiators were real but there was no Maximus. Though Thorfinn Karlsefni was a real person (his child is supposed to be the first European born on North American soil) There are other things in Vinland Saga such as Thorfinn and Canute meeting that are either fictional or speculation. But like I said the author does the research so even if it's not all true it certainly seems true.

@lebrisson By the way I know there is a real Vinland Saga. But thanks for the info. That's why I said it is historical fiction because it is based on history but it's not entirely history. Things were changed, omitted or even added for the sake of plot. Not that anything is wrong with that. The manga is awesome either way.

It just wouldn't be wise to use it as a primary source of information. Though I think it does get people interested in doing their own research on the matter.

generally critics compare vinland saga to both berserk and claymore, some go as so far as to call it berserk with vikings, which i mean seriously: berserk with vikings-> how could it NOT be awesome

@gir2point0 Ive read the proper Vinland saga and Ericsaga along with a number of other nordic sagas this is fitting but it lacks for comedy buttock removal during a duel (it may seem petty but the ancient Vikings found this histerical, its the equivalent of egg in the face for iron age Europwan literature
