He wrote music. Just like everybody else. Stop digging into some deep meaning. It started out as music. Leave it that way. And that's why he killed himself. Because people took some deep personal meaning to it and he didn't want them to. Well that and a few other things.

It's hard for me to think of a more over-ratted band in the history of music then Nirvana.. They where good but it's hard to imagine them becoming anything more then an answer to a "remember the 90's" version of 'Trivial Pursuit.' There were a lot of of other good bands in the early 90's as well but when was the last time you heard from them? Anyone remember when the M in MTV actually stood for music? (and the occasionally Bevis and Butthead shows late at night). Those were the good ol' days
we're still waiting for a band like this that can change music again in the good way if rock n roll. so, if you have a band, and if you think you're cool, please, we wanna meet you
@Striped27 I actually love Nirvana, and dislike all the other bands you just mentioned, but I don't go around saying "fuck this band and fuck this band, I LOVE THIS BAND" like a little bitch.
He was the reason to pick up an acoustic guitar for the first time, he was he cause for my love electric guitars (Obviously my first guitars were a jagmaster squier and a tele) I listen nevermind a million times. You can out it today and it ill still hit oyu like an atomic bomb. I saw the unplugged, I heard his soul struggling to get out of his voice at the en d of where did you sleep... And His death has always troubled me so much. He will never be replaced.
this sort of thing is so so exciting. politicians don't change the world. corporations don't change the world. artists DO change the world. the fact that sound waves can convey an entire zeitgeist is beautiful. i so hope my own music ushers in the next phase. one can only hope. as this documentary shows, it's impossible to know how an album can change the world until you put it out there and see.

@Awesomeman37 but he's changed in every way , i thought nirvana was for screw society and dont be a bore because life is short then cut forward 20 years and he's sat in a suit looking waaay older then he is .how can u go from a grunge band to a politcian ...its such a big leap .why dident he join foo fighters with dave ?!!
@Awesomeman37 you are right, some kids don't realize how much it work it takes to actually make a difference in the world. Krist could spend his time at the gym trying to look cool but maybe he thinks there are more important things in life than trying to look good or look twenty for the rest of your life. Maybe he doesn't have time for that because he's busy reading and trying to make things change. Also Grohl has a lot more money than Krist, so that could have something to do with it.
6-5-11 Thanks a Million to bigindex@youtube.com Awesome 'DOC'. :O "Yo..Butchie BUTCH VIG...The 'GARBAGE' Man Producer 4 The Foo Fighters! Great CD! I LOVE NIRVANA & 'KURT' ...His MUSIC WILL Always LIVE ON! GREAT STUFF! Joe HAHN is a Great Vid/DOC 'Director.' He's working w/ Lincoln Park.
Kurt was without a doubt the greatest singer ever in rock'n'roll.Kurt was in a class of his own,his lyrics were also amazing.I dont know how he came up with these fantastic songs. Some major stars could not write their way out of a wet paper bag,but for Kurt it just came naturally.God bless you Kurt.
@STRATCAT101 I beg to differ. Kurt fooled everyone, I think. If it weren't for the the success of SLTS on radio and MTV, Nirvana really wouldn't have gotten anywhere. He really couldn't write a song with good lyrics; all his lyrics don't mean anything and are ultimately unimportant to the song. Both the man himself and Dave Grohl admitted it. It was how they sounded that made them famous. The lyrics themselves are vague and hard to understand. You could make them mean whatever you want.
@HollaIfUHearMe7 I think Kurt might disagree... MTV helpped make Nirvana more than a great band. It is responsible for grunge being a musical movement. I can only guess but, i think that Kurt loved the feeling that his music was able to reach so many people.
To all the people saying Nirvana killed 'real' rock'n'roll, understand this: Stadium tours, merchandising, and multi-million dollar contracts killed 'real' rock'n'roll. Kurt was a kid who burned down the artificial monstrosity that guitar rock had become. And he did it through little more than trying to tell his own truth. And someday now another kid will do it all over again.
That's what rock and roll is, not long hair and leather pants.
you can kind of blame grunge and most importantly the music industry for the music we have now, people took kurts attitude and made it just girly. Emo, kurt wasnt emo, he just found life meaningless and wanted to be lost. He didnt complain or whine or become something he wasnt he stayed true to himself but he just got lost in thought and it destroyed him.
If I wanted to "Watch a reality show" I would record my daily life, and watch it later, not sit there and watch a bunch of scuzzy little bitches fight over a guy.......Not for me.
0:37 ... What da? I'm not that kind of "young people"... I'm Rock! I'm Metal! I'm not a hopper...

bensimps123 8 months ago
@bensimps123 Actually he does help play bass, he played the bass for a couple of tracks of the new Wasting light album.
Awesomeman37 8 months ago
@Awesomeman37 but he should join full time , dave still looks cool and rocking ,krist looks well like an old bore
bensimps123 8 months ago
@Awesomeman37 you are right, some kids don't realize how much it work it takes to actually make a difference in the world. Krist could spend his time at the gym trying to look cool but maybe he thinks there are more important things in life than trying to look good or look twenty for the rest of your life. Maybe he doesn't have time for that because he's busy reading and trying to make things change. Also Grohl has a lot more money than Krist, so that could have something to do with it.

:45 Those kids find Kurt Cobain's lyrics attractive?
burningxdimx 9 months ago
Kurt was without a doubt the greatest singer ever in rock'n'roll.Kurt was in a class of his own,his lyrics were also amazing.I dont know how he came up with these fantastic songs. Some major stars could not write their way out of a wet paper bag,but for Kurt it just came naturally.God bless you Kurt.
STRATCAT101 9 months ago
@STRATCAT101 I beg to differ. Kurt fooled everyone, I think. If it weren't for the the success of SLTS on radio and MTV, Nirvana really wouldn't have gotten anywhere. He really couldn't write a song with good lyrics; all his lyrics don't mean anything and are ultimately unimportant to the song. Both the man himself and Dave Grohl admitted it. It was how they sounded that made them famous. The lyrics themselves are vague and hard to understand. You could make them mean whatever you want.

MTV? is this video about NIRVANA or MTV? FUCK MTV.............
HollaIfUHearMe7 9 months ago 2
@HollaIfUHearMe7 I think Kurt might disagree... MTV helpped make Nirvana more than a great band. It is responsible for grunge being a musical movement. I can only guess but, i think that Kurt loved the feeling that his music was able to reach so many people.
ljbeck123 9 months ago
@HollaIfUHearMe7 You retard, you wouldn't even know who Nirvana were if it weren't for MTV.

MTV IS GARBAGE. IF YOU WATCH IT YOUR A MORON
RealFlaw 10 months ago
you can kind of blame grunge and most importantly the music industry for the music we have now, people took kurts attitude and made it just girly. Emo, kurt wasnt emo, he just found life meaningless and wanted to be lost. He didnt complain or whine or become something he wasnt he stayed true to himself but he just got lost in thought and it destroyed him.

I love how it starts with Butch Vig behind the console. People forget that he was the force that made Nevermind sound like a ton of fucking bricks.
