@J1Militans History of the church June 1843 by the river Susquena (sp?) Oliver Cowdery and Joseph Smith were visited by ancient apostles Peter, James and John and they ordained the prophet with the authority and keys of the church that was killed off in the 1st century.

READ the book of Mormon for yourself, and ask God in humble prayer, and wait for an answer from the holy Ghost. Catholics are converting in droves. My mission to the Philippines, I baptized many that WERE Catholic, and they learned the truth.

Nowhere in Acts is there anything about Joseph Smith!
And with SO many churches springing up from 1500s onward, how do YOU know that the LDS is this "regenerated" church, and not the Lutheran or the Baptist or the Anglican or the Persbyterian or the "Bible Church" across from my street?

@LDS4Life71 And lastly, doesn't common sense say that if the Church of Christ that appeared since Matt 16:18 (or Pentecost) fell away within a hundred years, with people who knew the Apostles themselves, then all the more must your "church" fall away within those same 200 years? In fact, it should, by logic and common sense, fall away in 30 years or less, since at least back then the Apostles' disciples were alive! Wow. God truly in unfair if your view is true...

@J1Militans The rock is the revelation that Peter recieved because he was an ordained apostle, and his authority as well as the rest of the apostles were martyred and their authority was killed off with them, and revelation stopped.
The apostles and there were to be TWELVE, NOT ONE to be the foundation of the church.

But it is also Peter himself, and we see in the Scriptures how Peter acts as the head of the Apostles, and we see the very first Christians who held Peter as one with great authority. Yes, revelation ceased, but their teaching and authority did not. Or else why would St. Paul ordain others to the ministry through the laying of the hands? Acts 6:6, Acts 13:3; 1 Tim. 4:14; 2 Tim. 1:6, among many others...

Formerly, bishops and other Church officers had been appointed and supervised by the Apostles, as indicated in the book of Acts and Paul’s letters (see, for example, Acts 6; 1 Tim. 2, 1 Tim. 3; Titus 1).
