  • restrict use of mana ... like the restrict use of Triforce...

  • i really enjoy ur LP's well this is the first one and first time with this game the only snes rpg i played was FF6/FF3 THIS GAME SEEMS TO LACK MUCH STORY BUT IS STILL FUN! LOOKIN FORWARD TO PLAYIN SEIKIN DENSETSU 3

  • My least favorite part of this game it felt somewhat meaningless

  • 7:50 you forget the 200 years old girl.

  • i like the axe. it been useful for me during the light palace and the last palace not the final area. i dislike the gloves/knucle weapon. shortest range out of all the weapons.

and it doesn't have the cleaving effect that the axe and sword have.

  • How do u get to mandala???????

  • @youngblizza206 Watch the videos why don't you. They showed where you have to fly to.

  • It seems to me they almost always target Randi with annoying spells regardless of who's leading the party, so I'm thinking I might just get one Ivy Amulet (Ochu Ring in Japanese) this playthrough...

  • no it was not gem missile it was magic missile! lol

  • as i said before Bailly

    start playing VALKYRIE PROFILE 1

best game ever, its on PS1 emulator.

  • yea this area sucks pretty much tho.

  • the video doesnt seem to be working

  • The broken Veedio orb has HC's LPs :-D

Wish I would have known about the Ivy Amulets! Also, I never used status spells in this game (like Speed Down on Gestar).

  • Brazilian? Was a compliment or an insult it's hard to understand.

  • maybe they are brazilian hahaha wait a sec I'm brazilian! and I don't get it at all

  • HEY! Im brazilian and im in Brazil (comming back in 2 weeks to the US) And nobody here is bald and/or coneheads!

  • The blue tiger guy is supposed to lose his head like that. Its not a glitch or bug, its just there to trick you. Just when you think he's dead and start to relax, he comes back.

  • The intro did say that after the Mana Fortress was smashed, civilization was destroyed. The mention of "missles" and "veedios" (and Jeopardy?) suggests that society had modern technology before it was wiped out and forced to start over.

  • At 07:11 the plant at the top gets attacked by nothing and then jumps. Amazing plant!!!!!!!

  • the plant got hit by the tip of the javalin

  • I always hated this mountain as well. Not because of the Sleep Flower barrage, but because the game makes you scale it SO FREAKING MANY TIMES.

  • hang on why is it weird they flew there i mean the empire has HOVER BIKES!!! so why does the old granny find that Unlikley ?

  • How do you do that? Lol, can someone teach me because I would love to be able to do that. haha! Nice Vid..

  • Lol. "It DID happen to say F You." .. Haha. Quite understated, JD :3

  • if you like this game get sword of mana for the GBA

  • I love the Lofty Mountains music. I could put it on and sleep all night.

The turtle story is great. It reminds me of this one time my sister started going around saying "JESUS CHRIST THAT THING'S REAL!?" and it took me like a month to remember what movie that was from.

  • That sounds familiar. What is it from?

  • It is spoken just after a metal scorpion gets pulled out of a person's stomach through his belly button.

    :D

  • Thanks. I knew I've heard that line before. I would've driven myself crazy trying to figure it out!

  • It could have been missiles, that bike-rider boss fires them!

  • I always wanted to know why this game over-dedicated things to flavor such as that temple north of Mandala. But as we will see more of later on, the ancients were in fact very high tech.

Those eggatrice actually completely hatch from the eggs in SoM 2 and become birds.

The upcoming Sage Joch and Tasnica plots are very poorly explained in this game it seems, alot of what happens makes no sense.

You didn't comment on the messed up background after leaving Jehk's place.

  • It's not exactly legitimate, but you can save state just before killing a Dark Knight and keep killing him in different ways to get him to drop a chest. Analyze the chest so it glows red to disable all traps then save state again. Then keep trying to open it in different ways until you get Gauntlets. It's one of the most powerful ring type armors in the game. Not really a spoiler but for anyone following along who wants to supe up their characters. =)

  • Actually, I think those orbs were only audio recordings, since they probably didn't have the magic fro holograms or video recording. Most of them sounded like radio reporters who were at the scene of the destruction, or what ever happened.

  • They had "Is that your final answer" in FFX-2 also.

  • O RLY?

  • Wow, head... floating!

  • joch and jehk they werent even tryng

  • Its almost as bad as Cid and Mid in FFV

  • You didn't mention it in the video, but the... Dark Knights or whatever they're called, in the Palace of Darkness, drop Gauntlets, some of the best 'Arm Armor' equipment in the game.

  • Awesome job guys keep em comin!!!!!!!!

  • Next time, they become contestants on Where in the World is Sage Joch!

  • Their Sleep Flower almost always targets the character that the first player is controlling.

  • You know, I've noticed something in this LP that kind of distinguishes it from many of your others...in a lot of your other LP's, when you come to an area or scene of the game with great music, you'll often comment on how great the music is there (e.g. Cosmo Canyon in FFVII). However, I don't think I can recall an instance of you or your brother commenting on any of the music here in this LP. Well, there are some great tunes still to come in this game, so you'll probably make SOME remark....

  • I think he said something about the Ice area.

  • We haven't gotten to the really epic music yet, but we will soon. :)

  • Ah, very true. Soon we'll have songs like The Legend, Star of Darkness, Did You See The Sea? (already been played, but not for the same length of time), Prophecy, Spirit of the Night, Leave Time for Love, The Oracle, Meridian Dance, The Second Truth from the Left, and probably a bunch of others...yeah, you're right, the music definitely will get much better not too long from now.

  • That's good to hear..some of the music up to this point has been unimpressive, to say the least; the theme in the Ice Forest was the first one that really stood out to me as meeting my usual expectations for an SNES Squaresoft game.

  • HC used a SMILEY! ^~^

And great video guys, and question...did you do this episode a nightime? XD

  • The axe is pretty powerful, though. I'd probably rank it in third place of the four short-range weapons, with the knuckles being dead last (I think they're just plain awful), the spear as number 2, and the sword as number 1 (actually, sometimes the spear is even better than the sword).

  • i love watching these SoM videos, HC. i'm getting the urge to play this game. can't wait to see more

  • Palace of Darkness, looks very intriguing, considering its in a cave.

  • they thought the coneheads were from france.

    "we come from france!"

i know what you mean about the axe, HC. it's my least favorite weapon, so i leave it on the sprite. i just use one weapon per character. generally sword on the boy and girl with the spear.

nice vid, guys. keep up the good work.

  • I was referring to the scene where they were working on a computer image of them and they were having trouble getting their foreheads big enough. I thought one of the races they were referring to was Brazilian.

  • oh yeah! sorry for that misunderstanding.

  • i like watching your "veedios"

  • Oh man! Sleep Flower is very annoying! Thank goodness for the Ivy Amulets. Oh, and that Jehk fellow will get quite annoying after awhile... But, *rest of comment deleted due to spoilers*

  • lol at the wow clip and whos character was that anyway XD

  • You guys should get a parrot and train it to say "ORLY" so you can have it toy with other people. That would be amazing, haha.

Also, I personally liked the whip throughout most of the game. I guess it's just because I got a whole bunch of whip orbs to the point that it was my strongest weapon.

  • I liked the whip too, actually. I think of all the long range weapons it was my favourite. I mean, it has good range, it hits every enemy in its path (similar to the boomerang), and it's not PARTICULARLY weak...come to think of it, it does have a number of similarities with the boomerang, but for some reason, I like the whip more, although I can't put my finger on exactly why....

  • Nice spelling, random Mandala denizen.

Some people take that as evidence that Secret of Mana is set in the far future.

I dig the music in the Lofty Mountains.

  • So far that the meter's spun all the way back to medieval times.

  • you rock HC

  • Woo! A new video! Great job guys.
