Joel139, Cro Cop was released by the UFC and has signed with "Dream", which is owned by former Pride owners DSE. M1 Global will be taking part in "Dream" so this means Cro Cop vs Fedor II at some point. Also there are a lot of UFC fighters who have contracts ending soon so there is going to be some top caliber fighters leaving the UFC to join DREAM, namely
Nog, Werdum, Gonzaga and Arlovski. We will have to wait and see but one thing is certain, the UFC will have competition again.

Is Mirko Cro Cop ever going to fight again? He has not had a fight since UFC 75 back in september of 2007. I saw his Pride FC fights and I though he was awesome.
Fedor is more than "pretty good", you don't have a 26-1 record being "pretty good" with your only loss being due to an illegal elbow strike.
Randy on the other hand is 16-8 and the matchup against Fedor is not a good one for Randy. He will be at a disadvantage standing and on the ground. Fedor via submission and I don't forsee it being anywhere near as close as people are thinking because styles make fights and this matchup favors Fedor anyway you slice it.
Good vid Sid, but I gotta say, with some ground training Brock could be a beast, but what I really want your take on is the Tim Boetsch win. Fluke or the makings of something beautiful? He was aggressive, patient, well-conditioned, powerful and pretty damn controlling/fast. Can't believe how nobody is talking about this fight. He gave me one of the main things I want from a fight. Yeah, Hong Man Choi was supposed to Brock Lesnar, but didnt get approved by the NSAC to fight him so that fell through and he got to fight some guy that wanted no part of Brock Lesnar.
I've met and trained with Brock Lesnar. And his strength is scary. Ask any amateur guy, or any pro wrestler from WWE... or even just guys off the minnesota vikings, he is very strong. Not only that, but he's got jiu jitsu training from the gracies, and 30 pound arms to strike with. Which the normal heavyweight's arms each weigh around 17.5 pounds. I feel sorry for Mir.
I think that if knees and kicks to the head of a downed opponent were allowed in the UFC a bunch of those Pride FC fighters would fight a lot better than they are doing now. Like Wanderlei Silva and Mauricio Rua for example.

The guy is a great fighter sure, but he hasn't proven to be the best. He beat Sylvia and Gonzaga, two great fighters, but what about big Nog? what about avenging his loss to Barnett? Look for Lesnar to win. Rumor as it Kurt Angle will be at UFC 81 and a possible fight between Lesnar and Angle is in the works, a June or July ufc headliner for lesnar and angle is rumored. I hope I'm wrong about this but it makes the ufc seem a little fishy. Is the ufc going the way of boxing now the money is big?
The Hong man Choi Fight never happened, it was Min So Kim, who is a solid Judoka. Lesnar blasted through his guard like nothing. so his strength may come into play again. I still think mir will probably win though.
To know what shape he will be in we got to judge Mir on his last fight, and he looked VERY good against Hardonk. Mir is very slick with his submissions, he usually gets very quick submission and he is one of the few fighters that is dangerous on his back. Brock will take him down but get submitted in the first round.
IMO I think Brock has the tools to beat Mir and that's probably why he was given this fight for his UFC debut. Mir obviously presents some problems on the ground but nothing Lesnar can't or shouldn't be able to handle. I think this fight will look a lot like Hughes/Gracie in that Mir won't be able to do anything from his back. As a result, I'm gonna say Lesnar wins by tko 1st round.

if the skill levels are similar strength matters but if theyre not then a high skill fighter has a huge advantage no matter what opponents strength is. MMA is a science nowadays so its more brain then brawn.

Yeah, Hong Man Choi was supposed to Brock Lesnar, but didnt get approved by the NSAC to fight him so that fell through and he got to fight some guy that wanted no part of Brock Lesnar.

I've met and trained with Brock Lesnar. And his strength is scary. Ask any amateur guy, or any pro wrestler from WWE... or even just guys off the minnesota vikings, he is very strong. Not only that, but he's got jiu jitsu training from the gracies, and 30 pound arms to strike with. Which the normal heavyweight's arms each weigh around 17.5 pounds. I feel sorry for Mir.

I think that if knees and kicks to the head of a downed opponent were allowed in the UFC a bunch of those Pride FC fighters would fight a lot better than they are doing now. Like Wanderlei Silva and Mauricio Rua for example.

Anybody else want to see knees and kicks to the head of a downed opponent back in the UFC? I hear Dana White was working on getting them back. The grappling just feels incomplete with out them. Screw head butts and stomps but keep the elbows. Is there anything being done about this?

i'm losing my respect for you. randy couture has had hand-picked opponents? like sylvia and gonzaga? sylvia's only prior losses were to mir and arlovski (both by submission). sylvia KO'd arlovski and dominated monson. gonzaga KO'd crocop, otherwise it would have been couture vs. crocop. get real. a subscriber's considering tuning out.

With the exception of the 2nd arlovski fight, sylvia has been awful. Say what you want about fedor's competition but he fights to win as opposed to Fat Tim's fight not to lose style. He won decisions against Assuerio Siva, andrei and Monson with his "jab and pray", loses to Randy, pulls the injury card and makes excuses, Then he bear hugs Vera for 3 rounds and gets a questionable decision. To compare Fedor and Tim in terms of legitamacy is lauaghable. Oh and lindland's a middleweight.

can't say Couture "hand-picked" his fights. Why would he fight Gonzaga over Cro Cop? If it had been Couture vs Cro Cop, it would have sold better, and if randy beat Couture it would have looked a lot better on his record rather than beating Gonzaga. The only thing I can say against Couture is he doesn't deserve to fight Emelianenko, until he proves himself. Let's face it he's lost 50% of his fights, and he has avenged few of his losses, not to mention he should be fighting Big Nog

Couture has defintely earned the right to fight Fedor but its too late. Every month that goes by gives Fedor the edge and thats just not fair. Yeah Coutures record sucks, but he beat unstopped foes like Belfort,Sylvia,Liddell, and Gonzaga. And believe this, if Fedor boxed Liddell he would lose. Fedor has never had a real KO in 30 odd fights. THATS A FACT! He is a great sambo wrestler but does not have the KO power that everyone claims he does. Its just not true.

fedor's never stopped a first-class figher by KO or submission. with the exception of nog (a submission fighter who can't box) and crocop (a kickboxer who can't wrestle), he hasn't even beaten a first-class heavy-weight fighter. babalu, arona, randleman, are light-heavyweights. was the win vs. arona even legit? lindland's a welterweight.

what about Randleman, or Mark Hunt, or Mark Coleman? Those are all some pretty damn good fighters, in fact if it was Couture vs Coleman, I wouldn't be so shocked if Coleman beat Couture. Fedor recently destroyed Hong Man Choi, who weighed 130 pounds more than Fedor, and had a 14 inch reach advantage. I will go as far as to say I bet Couture couldn't beat Choi. He might be able to take down some dude who's 40 pounds heavier than him, but I just can't see how he would shake off Choi.

The guy is a great fighter sure, but he hasn't proven to be the best. He beat Sylvia and Gonzaga, two great fighters, but what about big Nog? what about avenging his loss to Barnett? I still think he has a lot of work to do before he even thinks of putting himself at the same level as Fedor. Couture is 16-8 which means he's lost 50% of his fights, where as Fedor is 28-1, and everyone knows that 1 loss was an illegal hit, but let's say he lost fair and squuare. He DESTROYED TK in the remach.

Look for Lesnar to win. Rumor as it Kurt Angle will be at UFC 81 and a possible fight between Lesnar and Angle is in the works, a June or July ufc headliner for lesnar and angle is rumored. I hope I'm wrong about this but it makes the ufc seem a little fishy. Is the ufc going the way of boxing now the money is big?

The Hong man Choi Fight never happened, it was Min So Kim, who is a solid Judoka. Lesnar blasted through his guard like nothing. so his strength may come into play again. I still think mir will probably win though.

To know what shape he will be in we got to judge Mir on his last fight, and he looked VERY good against Hardonk. Mir is very slick with his submissions, he usually gets very quick submission and he is one of the few fighters that is dangerous on his back. Brock will take him down but get submitted in the first round.
Mir by heelhook 1st round.

IMO I think Brock has the tools to beat Mir and that's probably why he was given this fight for his UFC debut. Mir obviously presents some problems on the ground but nothing Lesnar can't or shouldn't be able to handle. I think this fight will look a lot like Hughes/Gracie in that Mir won't be able to do anything from his back. As a result, I'm gonna say Lesnar wins by tko 1st round.

Fedor's good. But he is can not go down as the best HW just on his past Pride fights. Coleman,Goodridge,TK,Fujita,Nogeria,Shilt,Randleman, and Hunt have all been beaten by many fighters including Cro Cop who in the publics opinion is a 1-dimensional kickboxer. I just think Fedor gets a little too much credit thats all. And he's gonna fight B class fighters outside the UFC.
