Tolarian Academy, affinity cards, tinker where you can sacrifice an artifact land for Darksteel Colossus, Master of Etherium, Time Sieve and a whole lot of others. Get four of each of them and don't let them go until someone pries them out of your cold, dead hands. They're good. Promise.

i have a deck with 4 Rhox warmonks, i pop them out fast and in about 4 turns ive gained 12 to my life, throw in 2 marble chalices and i get 14 a turn. you try to pop out monsters i counter it and your sitting there completely undefended and you end up losing alot of life while i gain alot of life

yeah good strat but the thing is the likely hood of getting all 4 out in less than 6 is very rare I've gotten 2 out in 3 turns and then i didn't see the other 2 at all the rest of the game. And I made another deck without them in there mono white and I was gaining more life then war monk could do.

Evan Erwin must have made a mistake when he showed rafiq,of the many becuase it duz not have 4 toughness it has 3. regardless, its still a good card but is just vunerable to more stuff. Evan, you might want to fix it in an edit or mention it in a later video to avoid confusion. Keep up the gud work.

Imo with shards the metagame will go more in direction of 5 color controll decks toast'likish since they have the manabase to handle the spells from alara, and in those decks empyrial is like a better platinum angel and cruel ultimatum is a kickass finisher.

Ad nauseum is too expensive to be very good but its not total crap. It's more of a late game card when you have the mana to cast both this(or end of your oponents turn) serch for a win condition and cast it.

Ad Nauseam is crap. Bob was great because he beat people down while drawing cards, or blocked a massive threat. Anyone who didn't know Bob was super powerful from the start was clueless. Spending 5 mana to not 'do anything' in today's super fast metagame will never work. And with more 5 power dudes for 3 mana, I don't think it's going to slow at all.

Now if this had come out in Onslaught Block or Timespiral Block, then it would be a totally different story!.

even like at end of turn ad nauseum and if u draw lands bring em free to ur hand, so fixes ur hand and then get a card u want or if not take the damage until u do. i thikn its good, maybe like a 5 dollar to 7 dollar card, i mean a two of in most control decks, life loss is so overated ne ways, we play fetch lands pain lands and bitterblossom all day so i think the life loss is not that important, and dark confidant is so much better but everyone knos way overpowered, i think ad nausem is good

My only problem with the ultimatum is that they have particular mana costs. Tooth and Nail has a higher cost, but because most of it is colorless, its easier to play because 5GG with 2 entwine is much more easy to do UUBBBRR.

Whats up with Evan? Medallion Man isn't that big deal in a long shot. He is tiny and hinders your 2 dropps. The fact that you can empty your hand on Turn 3 barely registers, since you couldve just cast the Ravager the turn before and you then have to make sense of the crappy 1/2.

I strongly suspect will have to apologize for that complete overstatemant.

(It was in Shota Yasooka's sideboard - of course, Shota makes some fascinating and unconventional design choices. That might have been one of them.)

I think Titanic Ultimatum is the strongest Ultimatum. At the least it gives you 6 life, and deals 6 damage your opponents way, but if you have say 5 weenies, that's +>30 life and >30 damage your opponent's way. If it's late game and your opponent has 3 creatures (1 fatty + 2 weenies) and few cards, that's basically 5 damage to him, 5 life for you, -1 weenie and +4 cards for you.

There's not much I don't like about Shards!! The only thing I'm worried about is too much Power Creep, hopefully they'll keep their heads with this one.

But GEEZ! Ad Nauseam looks like it can be worked around pretty easy to get really scary, really fast.

And, GOOD FREAKING LORD, ALL of those spoilers are just freaking, insane. Every single one.

Shards is really going to change the scene in Standard, you can bet money on that.
