"hardcore rhymin, yeah dat's the ticket, buckwilin, rough enough for long Island, YEAAAAH", just found my cassette after some New Years cleaning, forgot how hard this album nd this joint was, need this on cd.
Damn im feeling this song i wish i could of found it without the words and just instrumental so i can write to it. I had a mental block but heard this song and started flowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Erick & Parrish making dollars.....holla!!! man real hot joint back in'92.....CCccchhhiiiiillllll yyyyeeeaaaaaahhhh hahahahahah rough enough to break New York from Long Island
naw man EPMD stands for Erick and Parrish Making Dollars and then once they broke up Parrish became PMD (Parrish Making Dollars) and Erick Sermon just used his actual name
I know they have some of the dopest quotables.I was just expressing my dissapointment in the current album.I want to hear the classic sound I expect from EPMD. Oh,if anybody thinks I`m dissing EPMD you`re definitely wrong. When you try to get on me about that I will defend because they are the best to ever do it. As a devoted fan I feel I can feel slighted if I didn`t feel their current album didn`t live up to my expectations. That`s because they are so dope that they raise my expectations.
EPMD was all about beats. They weren`t necessarily the dopest rappers lyrically but when they lay down a funky track such as this to me you couldn`t tell me they didn`t sound as dope as Rakim. I repeat EPMD was all about beats and that`s what they should continue focusing on. I like the new album "We Mean Business" but I know I`m biased because I`m a huge fan. It`s not what I look for when I want to hear EPMD. This is what I look for. Get The Bozack,Strictly Snapping Necks,You Gots To Chill etc.
Hell no! With classic lyrics like "I`m not Bounce so sucker M.C.`s cling" or "Slice you like lettuce,toss you like a salad, revoke your M.C. license if your rhymes are invalid."Quotes from "You`re A Customer". They are classic lyricists but without their signature style of funk it`s not the EPMD I expect to hear. I meant they aren`t mentioned in the same respect as Kane or Rakim lyrically. They are more known for their self produced beats.That makes EPMD. E-Double is a top-ten producer (IMO).
I was at a parking lot and this guy was playing street thunder by foreigner, I made him play it back about 4 times until I realized were I heard it b4-EPMD slowed it down & sampled it 4 this track...long live hio hop!
As a huge fan myself , I found out that the instrumental is derived from Foreigner 's song (Street Thunder ) with a sluggish tempo or BPM , i would love to find the instrumental too.
this came out n 1992 but the beat sounds like 2002

in '88?

@slikkwon
If that's true, then EPMD got a lot more people to hear the sound that was sampled than would've been possible if it was just Steve's track.
