@raiden13266 FFVII? I'm sure at the time characters were anything but generic. It may not have the best storyline among the series, but it's still pretty good. There are other games that complement FFVII: Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. There's also Advent Children in between VII and Dirge. All of them complete the FFVII story. In my opinion, however, VII stands well on its own.
@DARKSAMUScorruption2 SMT is somewhat good as well. I especially liked P3, and maybe P4 when I play it. Lunar is a classic. You should treat yourself to it.

@DARKSAMUScorruption2 Haven't played Nocturne nor the DDS, but I'm hearing good things about it. Get Silver Star Story first the Eternal Blue. Both are connected. There's actually a remake of Silver Star Story, called Silver Star Harmony, and it's for the PSP. Haven't tried that yet, but people say it's easier than the PSX version. Then again, some say the PSX version is also easier than the original Sega CD version, which I haven't tried as well.

If you don't mind the dated 2D graphics, then you won't regret it. Try watching the gameplay on here on YouTube to see if you'd like it.

I don't think this is the last final fantasy, I love them all. Though I think Final Fantasy 13 was quite weak, but it was still a fantastic game. My favorite is FF12, it's everything a fantasy should contain :)

@CCDevonEleven Hahaha. Not a very good sign. You're still early in the game. Depending on your taste, going further could either keep you getting bored or entertain you. Personally, the game didn't amuse me. But it could change my mind about it if I play it again.
@CCDevonEleven That's Final Fantasy in general for you. I haven't played one that wasn't boring as hell for the first few hours, but like the others it gets MUCH better after you get out of the tutorial stages of the game. So stick with it, it's worth it in the end.

You laugh, smile and cry during this game. Atleast i did. Its amazing, its from my childhood.
And its beeing remade using the final fantasy 13 engine. Which means it will come back with extreme graphics for PS3 and with more stuff and longer story :D

Beautiful storyline, great cast of characters, amazing soundtrack and a familiar gameplay system makes this one a great Final Fantasy game! This was also the first time Square had hired VA for FF, so the VA wasn't perfect but that doesn't ruin the overall plot. Now back to the awesome soundtrack <3
Yes, 12 story is bad, but game itself is 100times better than 10. Think just a little about 10. I mean first time, then you get something to do in this game is around 12hours mark. I mean come on, 12hours they are talk about nothing. "The wind is nice" yes, it just adds so much to the story. Or talking 15hours how yuna will die. 12 is strait foward action, and it is good action with beutiful places to see and a lot of to find. And battle system is good for one reason, no battle loading.

@cwc733 I think you can get a feel on how many strikes it takes for your characters to kill an enemy, relative to the damage you can deal at the time, of course. I'm sure you don't mean adding up the numbers that are displayed for every attack you make on top of your head until the enemy dies, because that's just insane.
FFX is one of my fav games. Initially when I bought it I didn't like it mainly because I didn't really pay attention to battle tech at the start of the game and later on it became almost impossible to win so I restarted, realised what happened from then on I loved it cause battling and leveling finally made sense haha. Whenever a new FF comes out I'm there. You know how everyone has at least one sort of nerdy thing they like to do well playing FF games is mine haha FFX made me a die hard fan.
@rahungry It depends on what you're into. I initially thought FFXII was boring and didn't anticipate its release, but actually trying it out made it to be my favorite FF on the PS2. Anyway, FFX didn't appeal to me as I wished it would -- the corny dialogue and tacky voice-acting probably had something to do with it. I found the pacing quite draggy, too. This is purely subjective and don't expect anyone who made or will make a comment here to agree with me.
@rahungry FFX is one of my favorite games ever, FFXII is one of my least favorite, Most people agree that FFX is better but some really like FFXII (like thugsnw) :)

Fuck that, I play the final fantasy games for months upon months upon months before even considering finishing. Back in 99 When I got VIII I literally played that continuosly for a several HUNDRED hours. Also I continued playing my old save files on and off for 3 years lol. Childhood well spent! The final fantasy series taught me how to read lol.
@juliymeri It's not the best final fantasy game in my opinion, though i'd still 'highly' recommend it to you. Suprisingly the playstation 1 final fantasy games are much better, story and character wise. Although it is personal preference, a huge percentage of players think ff7 and ff8 are the best. ff9 is also great. ff8 is personally my favorite, the cinematic scenes were amazing for 1999, theyre still better than some games today lol. If you get the game let me know how you're liking it :D

I am a veteran of the FF series and Love to sit down and play FFX for at least 12 - 22 hours during my free time. I have total of 512 hours on my savedata. The reason for this is not just the main story line but also the side quest like finding the celestial weapons and monster arena battles.

@cwc733 I think you can get a feel on how many strikes it takes for your characters to kill an enemy, relative to the damage you can deal at the time, of course. I'm sure you don't mean adding up the numbers that are displayed for every attack you make on top of your head until the enemy dies, because that's just insane.

FFX is one of my fav games. Initially when I bought it I didn't like it mainly because I didn't really pay attention to battle tech at the start of the game and later on it became almost impossible to win so I restarted, realised what happened from then on I loved it cause battling and leveling finally made sense haha. Whenever a new FF comes out I'm there. You know how everyone has at least one sort of nerdy thing they like to do well playing FF games is mine haha FFX made me a die hard fan.

@rahungry It depends on what you're into. I initially thought FFXII was boring and didn't anticipate its release, but actually trying it out made it to be my favorite FF on the PS2. Anyway, FFX didn't appeal to me as I wished it would -- the corny dialogue and tacky voice-acting probably had something to do with it. I found the pacing quite draggy, too. This is purely subjective and don't expect anyone who made or will make a comment here to agree with me.

@rahungry FFX is one of my favorite games ever, FFXII is one of my least favorite, Most people agree that FFX is better but some really like FFXII (like thugsnw) :)

@Bmxismylife4ever i had played 6,7,8,9,12,and 13.....this is the only one which had 227 hours save next to 3 other saves with no least than 30 hours...Indeed this was the best piece of work FF (for me)

@rahungry I gotta say FF X is a good FF. But FFXII is one of my favorite FF. The whole combat system in FFXII looks weird but it's a really good change for a FF game. I'm hoping they release another FF like that soon.

tripping!!!! it does not take 50 hours.... quick run thru takes 14-15 hours... i put 30 hours an i almost got all the weapns that are powered up -_-.

Why do games always say "It'll take you no less than 40 hours" and then smile like that's something grand? Fuck that, I play the final fantasy games for months upon months upon months before even considering finishing. Back in 99 When I got VIII I literally played that continuosly for a several HUNDRED hours. Also I continued playing my old save files on and off for 3 years lol. Childhood well spent! The final fantasy series taught me how to read lol.

@juliymeri It's not the best final fantasy game in my opinion, though i'd still 'highly' recommend it to you. Suprisingly the playstation 1 final fantasy games are much better, story and character wise. Although it is personal preference, a huge percentage of players think ff7 and ff8 are the best. ff9 is also great. ff8 is personally my favorite, the cinematic scenes were amazing for 1999, theyre still better than some games today lol. If you get the game let me know how you're liking it :D

this is the first Final Fantasy I played and I love it so much.. since then i play final fantasy series i can get... and trying to get a copy some i didn't have until now...
I love the story... it really caught me.. as a teen age girl that time (actually until now) :)
i played it for 200+ hours 'coz i can't get the caladbolg for tidus to its ultimate form.. but then.. i didn't get it 'coz our dog bit the PS2 cord while i was playing.. :(

I am a veteran of the FF series and Love to sit down and play FFX for at least 12 - 22 hours during my free time. I have total of 512 hours on my savedata. The reason for this is not just the main story line but also the side quest like finding the celestial weapons and monster arena battles.
