The refs should be fined for the amount of the hospital bills. It is their responsibility to have the field and immediate out of bounds cleared for play. They obviously didnt do their job and should pay for it like any of us who doesnt do our job. That kind of injury can end a career. Imagine if that was Tebow breaking his leg, it'd be everywhere.

that second replay reminded me of former redskins qb joe theismann breaking his leg after a lawrence taylor hit back in 1985. this was just as gruesome.

But I understand what you were saying about these obstacles too close to games. I played rugby on a field where there was a four foot stone wall (like the old ones with stacked stones) about a foot or two from the sideline once. Needless to say, no one ran close to that sideline or attempted to tackle people out on that side.

I'm sure it hurt like hell & was excurtionatingly painful then & now but I dont see the unqicness about this. Big deal some guy ran into a cart that shouldnt have been there happens all the time. Again I know it hurt I'm not saying I would be a tough guy in that spot but just dont see what the big deal is about the "freakish" accident.

I NEVER said that Edwards wasn't going to come back...and if you look at the video close enough and you know your anatomy...Prothro broke his ankle at the tib-fib joint. His rehab consisted of getting range of motion back in his ankle...which is a little harder to do than just having a rod placed in your tibia and just restrengthening the leg...I am a ATC, I deal with these kinds of things on a regular basis...who is the dumbass now

I'll never understand why stadiums have obsticles like that near the playing area, its so stupid and this accident was totally preventable. This is a akin to that soccer player who died because he was going after a ball, tripped and hit his head against a concrete wall that was built mere feet from the sideline. Sad this happened. And it was so preventable.
It's not just Marshal and these carts though. As others have written here, throughout many sports there are obstacles are individuals far too close to the field.
One of these days some cheerleader or courtside photographer in a NBA game will be hurt when one of these giants runs over them. Mark my words. Matter of time.
The fact remains that common sense can prevent so much. The carts should not have been there. But Marshal isn't alone

They should've had those out of the way, but it's something that's pretty easy to forget. That break was pretty nasty, didn't really see it until the replay.
But I understand what you were saying about these obstacles too close to games. I played rugby on a field where there was a four foot stone wall (like the old ones with stacked stones) about a foot or two from the sideline once. Needless to say, no one ran close to that sideline or attempted to tackle people out on that side.
