  • sooo

this guy just broke is leg damn

    thats not cool

thist guy may not play football anymore

  • Even after this kind of injury he has beasted the last couple years, and hasn't lost a step.

  • talk about ouch, and talk about stupidity leaving carts 5 yards behind the endzone

  • I'm glad hes suing Marshall for this

  • That was nasty. On top of that, why the hell would you have a metal cart like that on the field? And you wonder why Marshall football hasn't been great since Byron Leftwich got drafted. I got sick of seeing this over and over again on the "Always Hate Houston" network known as ESPN. I'm a Houston Cougars' fan, but that was horrific.

  • Ridiculous to have that sort of equipment so close to the field, especially at the end of the endzone.

  • it's not going to end his career. they said he'll be back next year.

  • even if he doesnt have a career ending injury that still ended his season, and you get 3-4 seasons depending, they took 12% of his career away from him, all because they are complex morons

  • yes I agree with XxKilla..., I know i pat personally and i had to sit with him at homecoming in the stands, and for him to see them playing and not him, alomost killed him.

  • can anyone say....."joe theisman"

  • that was sick O__O

  • oo noo... damn... good luck to him. footballs a tough sport. i hope this injury doesn't ruin his football career.

  • I feel sorry for that poor guy. What a bunch of idiots to leave a cart out like that. As a result that guy could have a career-ending injury.

  • you are truely an idiot... people like you deserve to be shot on the spot... irrational dumbass

  • right on

  • @LukeBCtown wow dude that's pretty low.

  • Man that dude was playing so well,i can see myself playing with this guy next year, and he might not be the same after that incident,GOD DAMN YOU MARSHALL HOW THE FUCK YALL GONE BE THIS STUPID AND IRRESPONSIBLE,SHIT!!!!!

  • atupid ass marshall people leavin those damn carts there, dave maggard was talkin about filing a lawsuit against marshall and i hope he does to

  • Yeah this is def. more Marshall's fault than anybody elses. It's a bit irresponsible to have carts placed near the end zone like that. Players running full speed cannot just stop on a dime, and generally aren't thinking, "hey, there's a cart five yards away...better jump over that" they are looking for the ball.

  • My heart dropped when i saw that. I thought not only is our season over but this guys career might be over just because some idiots weren't thinking. Very very glad he will be back next year. And Keenam will be back for his junior year and Bell is a surprise freshman running back, U of H will be a force next year. Go Coogs! Hopefully this won't happen to anyone else again.

  • that replay was harsh!!!

  • Absolutely horrendous. I wish him all the best in his recovery!

  • his career isn't over they expect him 2 make a full recovery & play next year he's only a freshman so expect to hear about him in the heisman talk in upcoming years.. he's got alot of heart trust me i know....thanks for the people who are praying for my dude..

  • He's such a good player too. Not that that matters but he has such a good chance to make it to the NFL. Shame this would happen to anyone

  • Blame the quarterback!

  • Damn band, did they have to put the carts in the back of the end zone?????

  • Man, what a brutal injury. Real lack of foresight on behalf of the officials and whoever put those damn carts there. That was just an accident waiting to happen. Hopefully the guy will recover and all.

  • I cant see how they would not be smart enough by now ( after 80 yrs of football) to not know that big metal carts should not be that close to the endzone. On the bright side they didnt have to lift him far.

  • I'm sure he'll be able to rely on his college degree to support him now that his football career is over.

  • For those who talk down on Houston's WRs, remember that Donnie Avery from Houston was the first WR taken in the 2008 Draft. DA is doing more than well with the Rams.

  • 0:52 Ouch...Ya you can blame the QB for overthrowing that one...

  • Yeah, the ball was overthrown but the cars shouldn't have never been there. To blame the quarterback is moronic!

  • thats my nigga we played high school ball 2gether.. hate to see this happen he's doin good though.. he'll be back next year ready 2 take the nation by storm he a good dude though. im prayin for my dude

  • I'm prayin for him too man

  • quarterback led him to far on that one.

  • Sue them for millions and retire early.

  • that's fucked up lawsuit waiting to happen

  • Man that is awful! What pisses me off is that the stinking band and flag corps has all kinds of crap laying around! If you guys need that much shit... then get the hell off the field! Freaken idiots! I hate the band anyway! Perfect reason for not having them anywhere near a football field! They need football... football doesn't need them! What do they have competition on... a football field! Stay off, around or in the stadium whwn a football game is going on! Geeks!

  • He went full speed and never gave up on the play. Shows what kind of WR he is. Get well pat. Go coogs!

  • i can't believe how cool he was with it. he could've just ruined his football career (kinda like when prothro broke his leg)...yet all he cares about is that mistake not happening in the future. Anyone who calls him a dumb nigger should really take into consideration how much character he has. thats first class sportsmanship all the way both from edwards and from marshall.

  • @reckokicker he wasnt exactly cool with it, he sued marshall and c-usa, but i dont fault him for that, he had every right, that was bs

  • did you see he rogered the boogaly, god damn its colder then hoth in here, the metal thing with the nob. snoogins. sammich maker. GO JAZZ. ron rivera is going to lead the chargers to the super bowl. that guys leg probably hurts this is way to long 500 characters is too much for a comment on youtube

  • your an idiot moonloaf! You would prob be pissing your pants crying to your momma if that happened to you.

  • I would be pissed off, but he is taking it well. His mother is planning on sueing though. At least some Marshall players and coach visited him in the hospital.

  • They interviewed him, he says he doesn't blame them, he just advises they adhere to safety as their main objective.

  • No excuse for that.

  • I changed it, pay attention.

  • Yeah, that's true, wasn't paying attention to that lol. Ahem, Good luck Marshall.

  • Good luck to the University of Houston, you have a lawsuit coming your way soon. Hope you have a nice booster club 'cause their goes that fund.

  • or it was at marshall

  • How about MARSHALL, not Univ of Houston

  • What?

  • The cart shouldn't be there but also there is no room behind the endzone. You can't expect people to stop on a dime.

  • this sucks, fuckin dumbass carts

  • Get well coog

  • the bands a bunch of fucking retards thats why they arnt football players.... he was serioulsy hurt he snapped the bone out in his leg which required surgery and if you look the corner back also came close to slamming into the cart there coulda been two injuries due to a cart used by a bunch of band fags.. wake the fuck up people

  • that was nasty.....

  • fuck those cheerleaders wagons.

  • Even Joe Theisman is squeaming!!!

  • how many recievers in the NFL have a rod in their leg?

    none...

  • wtf RayRay3686 why would you laugh at this this is a broken leg u are a dumbass this is the end of a brilliant freshman season from patrick edwards

  • pause exactly at 0.52. you can see his leg take a right angle at the ankle :/

it does look like a theisman injury as ween said below.

  • according to the news he sufferd a compound fracture to his right leg..ouch!!

  • If hes coming back next year, hes gonna be an All-American and 1st rounder for his comeback

  • i would sue...

  • That looks like a Theisman. He's done, career over.

  • lmao. he'll be ready to go next season

  • hes cleared for next season so yeah...

  • Was there that night. I didnt even know what happened until i heard people saying he broke his leg.

  • they said hell be back next season

  • 0:52 look at his right leg

  • Yea my nigga pat pat repin for that HEARNE, Tx. im shure he will have a full recovery i hope so...big ups to you pat pat!!

  • damn that was crazy hope he be back next year

  • FUCK LOOK @ HIS LEG REAL CLOSELY OUCH!

  • can somepost an alternate link plz my youtube suxorz

  • that object shouldnt of been there. he should sue his career is likely over and his life is gonna be harder. this shouldnt happen.

  • nahhh, he'll prolly be able to come back, look at willis mcgahee's leg injury, that really sucked...now he's got a great career in the NFL...these types of injuries guys come back more often than not.

  • i so hope soooooooo...

  • good point.. I looked up the willis mcgahee video apparently his knee got knocked out of the socket but Patrick Edwards got his leg snapped in half between the knee and foot. this looks worse. I dont know im no doctor. i hope he make a full recovery but i doubt it.

  • hmmm...interesting...

  • That shit was sick

  • wow thats terrible hoply he will be back out there soon

  • that was a bad pass that led him to that area

  • So its the passers fault that he ran into carts right behind the endzone?! Thats silly.

  • The refs should be fined for the amount of the hospital bills. It is their responsibility to have the field and immediate out of bounds cleared for play. They obviously didnt do their job and should pay for it like any of us who doesnt do our job. That kind of injury can end a career. Imagine if that was Tebow breaking his leg, it'd be everywhere.

  • you're one of those people who always feels someone is to blame in a completely innocent accident aren't you?

  • what innocent about having heavy ass metal carts 5 yards out of bounds. The endzone is the place where people run out of bounds the deepest. Someone should be punished for that, how can you not agree? If that was you and you had career aspirations of playing in the NFL and all that was shattered because some ref or band left a dangerous obstacle near the field, would not you want someone to blame? It sure as hell wasnt your fault for going all out to catch the ball, like you are coached to do!

  • actually, the kid himself says he isn't blaming anyone and isn't pressing any charges...whether or not it was a mistake, it was an innocent mistake, and you don't just start punishing people for things they had absolutely no intention of doing. did anyone point out the fact that the carts were in a bad spot before the play happened? probably not, so i think it's really pointless to call someone out for something no one thought was a big deal until they themselves saw the unintended consequences.

  • jmiller006 i agree w/ u on not pressing charges but r u kidding me?? not to point fingers?? this could probably end this kid's career. So what if it was unintentional did u see the kid's leg?? u r basically saying that a "sorry" will clear all this up and everything will be fine. Who ever was the Einstein who left that cart there should be fired

  • Local sports channel here reported the they had been warned by there conferance to remove the carts before...

  • OHHHHHHHHHH!

  • feel bad fr da kid

  • I find it funny how people can't just comment on the video and wish this young man good luck in his recovery.

  • I don't think it is funny at all.

You can wish him good luck, but there is also the issue of how to prevent it from happening again.

  • I think you misunderstood what I found funny.

And how you stop things like that from happening , KEEP THINGS OFF THE PLAYING FIELD. They do that, there shouldn't be an issue like this again. Now if someone breaks their leg just playing, then that's a different story.

  • Oh my goodness, I can't even begin to imagine the pain the poor kid was in...that was a very unfortunate event, get well kid.

  • Oh shit damn i turned the game on right after the final replay and sportscenter said "weren't going to show you the close angle just do to graphic detail". College football live said the same thing.

  • CUSA is a JOKE. TOo bad for the dude who broke his leg, UH football sucks. I miss the Phi Slama Jama...

  • nice tv

  • Kurltoptw1sta..BRING YA BITCH AZZ TO HEARNE TX AND SAY THAT SHIT..PHUCKN E THUG

  • Compound too, thats why the ref knew right a way.

    Best wishes to him.

  • I'm sure it hurt like hell & was excurtionatingly painful then & now but I dont see the unqicness about this. Big deal some guy ran into a cart that shouldnt have been there happens all the time. Again I know it hurt I'm not saying I would be a tough guy in that spot but just dont see what the big deal is about the "freakish" accident.

  • Kurltoptw1sta you are a fucking bitch. Patrick Edwards could kick ur ass WITH his broken leg. Get that shit out from beind end zones or lose your job.

  • i agree that was ugly but there was probally a one in a million chance of that happening, seriously noone shuld be sued or fined, it was a freak accident

  • are you kidding?! one in a million??..i disagree, those carts were 1 1/2 step away from the end zone. this wasnt a "freak accident". this was an accident waiting to happen. the stadium needs to be held accountable for this.

  • Kurltoptw1sta ,U a fucking bitch...and will get beat da fuck up...if i seen u in real life homie...how u gonna call him a pussy...u fucking faggot..UofH 4LIFE baby..ya'll lucky sonz of bitches...Marshall sucks...

  • Fuck that sucks

  • how can people say he is a pussy, his fucking leg broke in half

  • ouuucchhhh

  • that second replay reminded me of former redskins qb joe theismann breaking his leg after a lawrence taylor hit back in 1985. this was just as gruesome.

  • I remember when Joe broke his leg and you're right..

  • All I can say is WOW !! Why would you leave anything like that at the the back of the end zone ?? Didn't anyone see it and say, "hey, someone remove that cart" ?? The way his leg broke, his football days are over.

  • Tyrone Prothro all over again.

  • Tyrone Prothro's injury was completely different...he broke his ankle not his tibia and fibula...you can recover better from and injury that doesn't involve a joint...dumbass.

  • tyrone prothro broke his fucking leg! and no it's not any easier to recover from. Edwards will come back and be fine! Tyrone was done for his career...dumbass!

  • I NEVER said that Edwards wasn't going to come back...and if you look at the video close enough and you know your anatomy...Prothro broke his ankle at the tib-fib joint. His rehab consisted of getting range of motion back in his ankle...which is a little harder to do than just having a rod placed in your tibia and just restrengthening the leg...I am a ATC, I deal with these kinds of things on a regular basis...who is the dumbass now

  • Tyrone did not break his ankle. His break was in basically the same area as Edwards. If Edwards comes back, good for him. If you're as "professional" as you make yourself out to be, you'd leave that kiddie name calling at home. Grow up.

  • I agree! But I did just read that he should be ok to play next season!

  • Ahhh good to hear !! Maybe now they'll learn to keep things away from the end zone.

  • Those damn band geeks need to find another place to put their shit.

  • and your a fucking retard if you honestly think that

  • Yeah, he's a pussy alright. If he was a real man he would have kept playing even though his shin had an extra knee.

    You're a faggot, Kurltoptw1sta

  • his career isnt done you fucking moron, why dont you read up on it he's a freshman which means he has plenty of time to recover just not this year

  • Someone needs to be held accountable for that shit. Everything is supposed to be off the field. Whatcha wanna' bet no one will take responsibility. We live in a land of cowards.

  • That's gonna leave a mark!

  • I pity the fool!!!

  • oh my god

  • That is un fkn acceptable. Whoever runs the equipment crew should be fired. Who leaves shit like that right behind the endzone????

  • Stupid butter-eating, glass-blowing rednecks. Hope their plane flys through a storm next away game.

  • Totally preventable. His career is probably over. Reminds me of Tyrone Prothro of Alabama snapping his leg in about the same area. He never played again. Sad.

  • his career is not over...it's just a broken leg

  • "just" a broken leg? oooook. his career is done.

  • They are just going to put a rod in...do some rehab and he should be back by next season...I am an athletic trainer, I know what they are going to do

  • That was a wicked injury! I really hope Marshall pays this young medical expenses. A fracture that high on the bone may require rods/pins to hold that everything together during the healing process. This is not funny.

  • oh fuck

  • That's just ridiculously irresponsible to have a metal cart five feet away from the end-zone. Even having cheerleaders behind the endzone is pretty stupid and begging for trouble.

  • Haha Id love to see a football player just land on one of the cheerleaders. Thatd be so embarressing.... hilarious

  • I'll never understand why stadiums have obsticles like that near the playing area, its so stupid and this accident was totally preventable. This is a akin to that soccer player who died because he was going after a ball, tripped and hit his head against a concrete wall that was built mere feet from the sideline. I mean dosen't anyone have an idea these are accidents waiting to happen or do they just no care?

  • exactly

  • Ouch.

  • wow...thats nasty

  • ouchy ow ow

  • :52 snap! Dang that had to hurt!

  • Damn, that's gonna leave a mark.

  • Wow...I feel so bad for him, that is nasty...

But in respose to the lawsuit thing, Edwards has already stated that it's not Houston's fault. The safties covering him too have already went to see him.

  • (((YIKES)))

  • It would've been pretty funny to see him run into the side of the hill instead.

  • SNAP CRACKLE POP,,, THAT HAD TO HURT,, LOLOLOLOL... DAM! SUCKS TO BE THAT DUDE! YOU GOT TO KNOW where YOU ARE ON THE FIELD, AT ALL TIMES. OUCH!!!!

  • LOLOLOLOL???? Nice guy you are.

It never ceases to amaze me how idiotic people like yourself are

  • You can see his leg snap too. Ouch.....not at ALL good. Easily preventable too. So sad.

  • Ahh...poor guy. That's a hell of a way to end a season. Have a speedy recovery man.

  • damn, that waas sick. hope he recovers soon

  • Yes, sue he hell out of them.. They are quick to punish athletes on and off the feild for their mistakes.. So they should pay for theres.. They cost him his carrer. They make billions off of college players.. They can afford it..sue those bastards.

  • Who is 'they'. marshall? marshall is making 'billions'?

    LOL

  • looked like the guy in green had the right idea.

  • i'll never complain about getting kicked in the shin ever again !!! that was fucking gross XD

  • damn thats fucked its definetly security's fault

  • Sad this happened. And it was so preventable.

It's not just Marshal and these carts though. As others have written here, throughout many sports there are obstacles are individuals far too close to the field.

One of these days some cheerleader or courtside photographer in a NBA game will be hurt when one of these giants runs over them. Mark my words. Matter of time.

The fact remains that common sense can prevent so much. The carts should not have been there. But Marshal isn't alone

  • They should've had those out of the way, but it's something that's pretty easy to forget. That break was pretty nasty, didn't really see it until the replay.

But I understand what you were saying about these obstacles too close to games. I played rugby on a field where there was a four foot stone wall (like the old ones with stacked stones) about a foot or two from the sideline once. Needless to say, no one ran close to that sideline or attempted to tackle people out on that side.

  • i agree with part of what you wrote, but in a stadium of significant size like this one there needs to be safeguards against these things happening. Checklists so that no one 'forgets'.

  • why the hell would they put a dumb cart

    hope the guy is ok

  • the conference should come down hard on marshall. hard. absolutely no excuse for that.... this coming from a marshall fan.

  • That is horrible. This guy should totally sue Marshall.

  • fuckin dumbass band ppl i knew there was a reason i hated them in high school

  • That is completely ridiculous that they left those carts back there. There are a million other places that they could have put them! Any future career could be over now because someone was careless.

  • i just feel bad for the player!

  • his leg completly shattered. That is no ones fault but marshalls, get those carts out of the back of the endzone!

  • y did they put the cart in back of the endzone anyway fuckin idiots

  • ad28killa...are you some kind of idiot? Band carts are not cameras or coaches on the sideline. The carts were not supposed to be there. plain and simple.

  • marshall straight fucking idiots, this guy is probably done for good for fuck sakes wutta brutal thing to fuckin see, he was a god damn freshman... smarten the fuck up, you are universities arnt you?

  • you can't blame his QB for this shit are u retarded... the carts clearly should not have been there in the first place, its about 5 feet behind the endzone and the QB overthrew him by like a meter.. didnt even see the carts waaaay too consintrated on catching the ball... just a freak accident, get well soon

  • what the **** is that!? are you guys smokin something? why would you leave carts at the end of the endzone? what...the stupid fields staff thought oh i guess ill leave the carts here while i go take a fu**ing p*Ss give me a break, sue the hell outta the school leave em wit nuttin

  • fucking morons move your fucking junk before somebody dies out there fucking idiots good luck in court fucking dummys

  • You can clearly see his leg break...poor guy, gonna be out of commission for awhile...
