In a weird way, I'm glad the douche-bag in the audience said that. Now the undecided voters can more clearly see what the right-wingers really stand for: Making the democrat opponent look "un-American" and "scary" - because they know the Repubs. can't win on the issues!
On October 16, Mr. McCain's political aspirations will come to an end when a 10-page article in Rolling Stone magazine hits the shelves. Never again will you think of his as a war hero. His fellow POWs in Nam will tell you the truth about him. He is little more than a spoiled, self-serving, self-indulgent, sexist, womanizer and, yes, a racist bastard.
STAND DOWN Mr. McCain. SHAME ON YOU! How could you do that to your dear devoted wife, Carol? Why were you allowed to crash 3 planes in training?!!
What would have been a real 'Presidential' move at that point would have been McCain chiding the crowd for saying that. Or for McCain to discourage that kind of talk. That is what America is looking for. Have a little class, McCain/Palin. You both have done more to convince the undecideds that Obama IS the right choice.
Its simply too easy to see how transparent and wrong these talking points are! Its pure smear and the person spewing gutter talk like this belongs where it comes from... in the gutter! Hard to even believe McCain can smirk after such a shocking and ignorant statement. At the very minimum it appears he acknowledges the remark but has absolutely no backbone to call it out as shameless, scary, and just plain wrong! Thanks 'McShame'! I really enjoyed this lecture in "Slimeball 101"!
26 days left until the election... and what we clearly see here are tactics of desperation. A man who will say anything in his hopeless attempt to help The Republican party cling to power. The more McCain presents himself this way, the more fed up the populace will become... and yes... the more shocking his defeat will be! Fear mongering will not work this time around.

By inciting people to racial violence, McCain and Palin will go down in history as the George Wallace of our time. That is, if they lose.
If they win, then people of color and non-Christians need to be well aware of the track record of leaders who rise to power through fomenting sectarian and racial hatred.
The only lasting solution is for moderate voices to denounce these calls to hatred and violence. It's as true of these racist hate groups as it is of extremist Islam.
swanstep "Somebody at the Town Hall-style 2nd debate tonight *has* to call McCain on this crap. Something in the best American tradition of 'Have you at last no decency left in you sir?' would be best."
McCain is a hack. He used to be a respectable moderate Republican. Then he sold his soul to the neo-conservatives. Barack Obama is an honorable man. Which is worse, Obama associating with a man who believed that America was going the wrong direction, and took drastic, albeit flawed, steps to change that (Ayers), or McCain associating with Keating, the architect of the last major credit crisis? Who has hurt America more? John McCain was a hero who has disgraced himself.
I also prefer Barrack to McCain, but both of them voted for this ridiculous bail out plan. I can't respect that. But it's either Barrack or Nader, and it wont be Nader.
Someone yelled terrorist and McCain didn't correct him?
I once had respect for the man, believed that he wouldn't be such a bad president. I now see the price he is willing to pay for success and it's scary. Scary and sad.
A Terrorist is a Murderer - a very, very harsh term to brand Mr. Obama with. Terrorists use murder to push forward their message. The McCain/Palin campaign is inciting violence with instigating this kind of talk and is a very frightening path to go down.
Somebody at the Town Hall-style 2nd debate tonight *has* to call McCain on this crap. Something in the best American tradition of 'Have you at last no decency left in you sir?' would be best.
It's really scaring that you can even think that Barack Obama is even slightly associated with terrorists.... What's going on inside your heads???
It's incredible that people in general focus on smudging their opponents and emphasizing screw-ups, instead of focusing on problem solving. What's gone into you???
This is a good advice to all of US citizens - Ask questions first, shoot later! Not the other way round.
No one but ignorant boobs call Obama a terrorist. But he is more than "slightly" associated with a man who bombed the US capitol to further a radical, Marxist agenda. Not only was he never punished for this, he is proud of his actions. Obama's associations with this man are longstanding and intimate. For details, google "Kurtz" "Obama" "Annenberg Challenge." This is the WSJ, not some tabloid. If you haven't read this, then you don't know what you're talking about.
Thomas Paine the soldier scribe of America would not be accepted by the narrow faction that Palin represents neither Jefferson, Franklin, or Madison. None of these founders were christianists or isolationists and they were well traveled around the globe. Palin cannot relate to the present diversity of America nor its actual past
There go the republicans gathering another angry mob to vote for them. Trying to make people fear Obama, that's really all McCain has at this point. He's completely ignorant when it comes to the economy, and he's been wrong on every turn in the war. So now they resort to dirty politics as usual. What a disgrace to America.
McCain and Palin are absolute vile scumbags. They spread lies and hate rhetoric about Obama and whip the fringe whackos into shouting "Kill him!" and "Terrorist!".
Isn't it wonderful what political discourse has come to in our country? Thank the Republicans.
I have to read/watch four times as much to sift through all the talking points and network spin and figure out where the candidates actually stand. This clip is the best evidence that the media has let us all down. Instead of providing an unbiased report of the news, virtually all of the media outlets - from MSNBC to Fox - try to shape the way we think. They need to just report and let us think for ourselves.
Where's OSAMA BIN LADEN, asshole? And why is Bush's hands-off policy on Osama Bin Laden for the past 7 years perfectly OK with the entire Republican Party???
The rightwing might have more credibility if they had actually gone after Osama Bin Laden, but to REFUSE to heed the warnings prior to 9.11, and REFUSE to go after Bin Laden for over 7 YEARS after 9.11, their cries of being against "terrorism" aren't just laughable, they don't even make sense!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Osama is over-rated. You must be watching too much CNN(Communist News Network). As for 9.11 warnings, well Clinton could have prevented the whole thing but you libbies play a blind eye to all of that, don't you? Get used to Republicans. McCain will win by a landslide.
Instead of spreading lies about Obama, why doesn't the McCain campaign focus on McCain's plan for America and the issues? Simple, they know that this pathetic tactic works on people like you. Look at each candidates YouTube site, and you'll see that McCain's campaign is driven off of smear ads. Wake up.
How pathetic that this man (whom I once greatly admired) has sunk so low. His own ticket is so bankrupt of ideas or inspiration that he must sink to the lowest ring of political discourse. He should be ashamed...indeed he IS ashamed, of having been steered toward the preposterous choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate. He's giving off cartoon stink waves of desperation now. Well, it won't be long.
You know, it's clear McCain heard someone shout terrorist, and the honorable thing to do would have been to stop and say Obama is not a terrorist, and that he doesn't want the vote of anyone who says he is.
After this election, McCain is going to have to look himself in the mirror and live with the fact that he spread his BS so deep and wide that his supporters took to calling Obama a "terrorist". He'll have to live with the fact that history will remember him as runnnig an ugly, vile, disgusting, substanceless campaign against the first African American major party candidate in history.
The McCain of 2000 bears zero resemblance to this curreng McCain monstrosity.
I can't believe, I can't BELIEVE, that the John McCain I used to admire so much has sunk to this. I was pulling for him in 2000 because I wanted him to be President and watching what he has turned into is just sad.
This reminds me of the moment when George H.W. Bush called Bill Clinton "a clown". That was the moment you knew that desperation had set in and that Bush was history.
Obama a terrorist? I mean seriously... The dude who says that probably never finished elementary school.
As a very small information for all the people who would like to defend this guy here, I'd like to tell you the term "terrorism" is a simple word with the following meaning : a violent political action. Obviously a terrorist is someone perpetrating such an action.
Obama does a lot of political action alright, but violent? If some think so... we certainly are not living in the same world.
Who are these people? I sure as hell don't know anyone who allows their supporters to call their opponent: "TERRORIST!"
This is quite disgusting. I am ashamed to live in a country where people actually say these things, much less where their "leader" laughs at their remarks rather than rebuking them.
The fact that McCain would let such an ugly comment slide without any condemnation is absolutely despicable. I once respected John McCain, but his dishonorable Rovian campaign has changed all that.
Throwing away your reputation I guess is easier when you have only a few years left. It's still sad to watch though. Maybe some more lipstick would help make it palpable.
McCain needs a good lesson...how about a landslide for Obama...375+ electoral votes. Let's retire this tired, angry old man. Everybody needs to vote this year!

An angry barrage of insults? HAHA, McCain you hopeless pile of hypocritical bull-sh*t. How can you even show your face in public. Mr. McCain, you are UNFIT TO SERVE!
