americans trying to read in latin

  • I enjoyed that - and a brilliant cameo performance by Ratus Norvegicus!

  • Gayumm Lesbianus

  • @EGMAG

    Fail.

If you're going to insult 2 girls who actually use their initiative, at least try and use CORRECT GRAMMAR.

  • @sephirothsoul999

    ETFUCITUS TU ES TITTIMUS?

  • derka derka derka

  • miser mus...

  • Did you study by yourself or did you learn this pronunciation in school ?

  • sorry, but your pronounciation is way off, like ita vero is said ita wero

  • Wow. My latin class at least tries to pronounce it properly.

    It should be interfice, no?

  • This is stupid. No correct pronunciation. Tell them to take some time to learn grammar.

  • sounds like you are speaking in english

  • poor pronunciation. the girl studying math said "tacite" which is incorrect, should be "tace."

  • Veni, Vidi, volo in domum redire

  • you guys suck you can't pronounce anything right

  • completely right, what were yu expecting, they re americans... and the funniest thing is they have a five stars rating.

  • Hey, that's a bit offensive. Are you looking to start a fight or something?

  • you´re right. I dont how come I played so bad-mannered, Im sorry I simply dont like the vid.

  • Wow, this reminds me of kids in my Spanish class...butchering yet another language. Might as well say, oh my gosh like totally; in between every other word.

  • do they speak latin in rome? if they speak it somewhere i'd like to learn it then because the only reason i haven't is because i wouldn't be able to communicate with anyone.... so i didn't see any incentive to pick it up. you know what i mean?

  • the best word in latin is "pono", the infinitive being ponere(really that's a ward if you don't believe me) it means like I carry(infinitive=to carry)

  • isnt porto the word for 'i carry'? and its infinitive being portare?

  • Yep, ponere means "to put" or "to place."

  • Fact: Totus vestri substructio es nostri

  • My god, pronunciation check!!!

  • Hilarious! But you have to work on your pronunciation a little. Veni Urbe!(Come to Rome)

  • shit, its crap, latin!? this crap!?

  • I am a first year Latin student this year, languages are so fun!!! You get 5 stars.

  • vocab was excellent, still strong american accents coming through though.

  • im learning spanish... hi Peter!

  • no intellego? dar eu te inteleg:)

  • Ok, you poeple who say that their cases and their accents are not right, no one even knows how the people back then even spoke latin. Latin is a dead language. Give them a break. They did very well.

  • @101Pompeii UH actually, we do. Classicists have reconstructed the language via transliterations and Latin's derivatives. And some of the ancient grammarians have detailed the pronunciation out themselves.

  • @101Pompeii Latin is still spoken in Vatican city. It's not entirely dead. And Latin back then would definitely not have an English accent!! Haha

  • i learned latin from the best latin teacher in this country, and all V's are pronounced as W's. so salve sounds like salwe. yeah.....

  • Ok you guys...those who say that they don't pronounce Latin right...We don't even know how they Romens spoke Latin! It is a dead language. We can only guess how they pronouced it.

  • at first i didn't realized that this was latin...

you speak it like you would speak english - it's really hard 2 understand...

  • The pronunciation isn't that bad. Authentic Latin sounds pretty American (they call it Germanic pronunciation). I suspect most of the listeners are just used to the Catholic way of pronouncing Latin, which sounds prettier to our ears but isn't vaguely as accurate. The problem is, they're speaking somewhere in between the two dialects (obviously not intentionally...) --Colin Jensen, real live Latin teacher

  • authentic latin as in the latin that the romans spoke, doesnt sound a thing like what they are speaking.. their pronounciation is germanic, and nowhere near authentic.. Latin did not sound like that.. In Latin the R was pronounced harsher and the vowels were stressed differently.. V's=U's/W's in classical latin.. in vulgar latin they V were pronounced as regular V's

  • Oh...thank God. Because I've wanted to learn Latin for years, and for a moment these two had crushed my dreams. (no offense). :D

  • That was fun, but really... practise your accent. I hardly understand what you 'guys' are saing... =(

  • you have to use the accent too, its too american

  • Well, I'm not sure that's the accent you use in latin, but it is interesting to watch.

  • i am sooo going to learn how to speak latin now...

  • omg, you degrees and cases are way off.

  • Bonum est latinam linguam legere. Sonita verba mala sint autem inflectiones bona!

  • (quote) Bonum est latinam linguam legere. Sonita verba mala sint autem inflectiones bona! Here's my feeble try: Good that Latin is spoken here. Words sound bad without the correct inflections! ??

Despite my flaws, the fact remains: Latin will firm your foundation of English, and aid in learning other languages! I've actually dicovered many Latin rooots just by learning Spanish! Rock on!

  • cool.

  • i see. i think that for english people the pronunciation of latin may be a bit difficult...

  • you have got a terrible pronunciation of latin
