It's not so much that there's an "order" in the REC but that this individuals oath refers to "divine aid of the virgin mary"...thereby setting aside at least three of the 39 Articles. But the whole REC is losing it's way due to lack of a standard, theologically, with several anglo-catholic types now being among the clergy, as well as charismatics.
I can't help thinking Bishop Cummins is spinning in his grave. I mean a denomination founded against the rise of the Oxford Movement in the Anglican Church now has a Franciscan taking vows. Does it get more High Church than this? I thought this was "ancient but not necessary." If I may adapt a line from Edmund Burke, "All revolutions (or reformations) betray themselves in the end."
