@TxRopinCowgirl - I know what you mean, but he knows how to give to pressure. A lot of horses would freak out again when they hit the end of the lead rope like he did, but he just stands there. This was his first horse show so he was on edge to begin with, plus this was right after the horse he had been tied next to left for a class. He's random and unpredictable like this, it's just the way he is. It has nothing to do with giving to pressure in his case. Trust me, I know my horse.
You can fix problems like this by teaching him to give to pressure.
It looked like as soon as he felt enough pressure, he decided to blow up. He was 'rewarded' when your tie slipped, allowing more slack into the rope.
