@SHNewEngland I see what you mean, that would take awhile to sift all that. Wasn't yelling at all, just thought you may be missing coins or other sweet stuff. Very cool. Why are bottles found in ash layers? I suppose because the garbage used to be put into heaps and every now and again set on fire? Great finds and you showed a lot of common sense by quitting when the hole got too dangerous for one man. There is always another day!

awesome digs! any buttons or coins! when we do a group hunt we all gather later and divide the goodies. we will put a sack of mixed dated coins in and draw the one with the oldest picks first and then we go till all is gone. lots of fun when there is so much stuff! what a great spot!!! congrats!

@vcstar5 We did speak with the homeowners of the 2 houses above us to let them know what we were doing, but it was 6-7am & we didn't want to wake them up & piss them off. We need to be on good terms with them, & we promised to backfill the hole (after we get the rest of the jugs out of course) :)

@digitaldevil7777 Thanks & we still DO detect. But, we found 3 huge bottle dumps in the last few months that need to be dug out. My dad took me digging bottles when I was 6 years old, & I have continued to do detecting+dumps as they come about. We're working on a follow up DVD of just our detecting adventures.......

We use to live on site where it was a civil war bottle dump we would find bottles from the war all the time we lived only couple blocks fom Fort Star Morgan City La.
