They may sell a punch but contact is made between the wrestlers

I first heard of Andre in the very early 1970s when I was a kid and he was my favorite. I never really accepted his heel turn. I cheered for him anyway against that evil villain, Hulk Hogan. It was nice to see him turn back to face officially before the end. He was a face for most of his career and turned heel for the Hogan feud.
It's funny now to realize that Andre and Heenan were best buddies in real life.
I like how this is an '07 video from the WWF 80's or so era and yet it has much better picture quality than quite a few '10 videos showing WWE stuff.
And Andre, what a guy! Undefeated for a decade and a half and half of probably the greatest match ever. Rightful Hall of Famer right there. Have fun bench pressing angels, Andre.

I hope Haku got paid extra for Wrestlemania VI...I just re-watched the match on DVD and Andre was never even in the match officially (he was probably not well physically). Props to Haku for bearing the load and dropping the title in a proper fashion.

Bobby Heenan was the best heel manager of all. He was nicknamed the Weasel for good reason. He was the Brain; but was also called the Weasel. Because when he was there, the crowd chanted Weasel; Weasel; Weasel!
It always amazed me that Demolition were Champions, yet The Rockers never were.
Andre was a class act, listen to that crowd, when was the last time you saw a crowd go that wild? Bobby Heenan and Andre were such a great team, whether they worked together or as enemies.
It shouldn't amaze you at all. Demolition were big, strong and awesome. They had that original Undertaker aura of scaring the crap out of the fans. They could also wrestle, Ax and Smash having been accomplished single wrestlers, so they could have good matches with big guys and little guys. And they were ridiculously over as heels and as babyfaces.

I am surprised Andre didn't lose an eye to Haku after the match was over. I heard that Haku and Andre hated each other in real life. As far as Heenan is concerned, he got what was coming to him.
As tough and crazy as Haku was, I doubt he was THAT crazy. I'm sure he knew full well that if he tried to harm Andre, Andre could have (and possibly would have) killed him. Strangling Ed Leslie in a shower stall is one thing, but picking a fight with someone of such immense size and power was another story. Even with Andre's failing health, Haku was no match for him...

No offense but I think Andre made fun of himself here. He could hardly move, so didn't contribute too much to the match and he slapping Bobby looks like a kid fight. Also Smash could've easily escape from Andre's grip from 0:31-0:34.

The passion and the love the fans had when Demo won the titles is sadly missing these days. That reaction was like when a hometown team wins the World Series or something. The wrestlers today just dont pull the same love from the fans.
I miss those days too, but the 90's were just as awesome, and the 2000's will end up being great as well, watch out for this decade, I think some crazy shit's gonna happen for sure!
He probably could've been had he not gotten the surgery to stop the affects of acromegaly. Andre did not want the surgery for whatever reason and the disease ultimately killed him. Big Show had the surgery sometime in the 90s, and has recently been taking better care to watch his weight.

I don't know wrestling very much, but I observed (based on fans' reception) that the Demolition were heels in 1988, faces in 1989, and heels again in 1990, and faces again in 1991. They keep turning around so often that it's a bit confusing.

As tough and crazy as Haku was, I doubt he was THAT crazy. I'm sure he knew full well that if he tried to harm Andre, Andre could have (and possibly would have) killed him. Strangling Ed Leslie in a shower stall is one thing, but picking a fight with someone of such immense size and power was another story. Even with Andre's failing health, Haku was no match for him...

@shinbanman Bullshit! I read in an article that Haku broke the ribs of a super heavyweight and fractured his skull. The man Haku beat in a fight became a vegetable. If Haku can beat the hell out of a super heavyweight in street fight, strangle Ed Leslie, gouge an eye out of Jimmy Jack Funk, and push a cowboy through double doors with one hand, he can fuck up a giant. Haku should have ended his career backstage after the show was over. He hated Andre.

@shinbanman The reason why Haku didn't attack Andre was because he could have lost his job and would have been banned from wrestling in the United States. So Vince tried his best to protect Haku despite his reputation outside of the ring. Yes, Haku could have fucked up Andre.

Man that was haku back in the day, now he had that big afro with rikishi? Wow, I never viewed past the 80s to see all this wrestling. Though imo, Andre didnt look that powerful when dealing with both of them. If it was Undertaker, he's have taken his measure of revenge with something far more brutal. It seemed like Andre always held back a bit as well.

@AMEwrestling He is a very tough guy no doubt about it. I don't think he's unstoppable. Nobody is no matter how tough they are. There's always someone out there that can beat them. Put him up against guys like Bolo Yeung or Bruce Lee in their prime and he may end up in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

No offense but I think Andre made fun of himself here. He could hardly move, so didn't contribute too much to the match and he slapping Bobby looks like a kid fight. Also Smash could've easily escape from Andre's grip from 0:31-0:34.

He probably could've been had he not gotten the surgery to stop the affects of acromegaly. Andre did not want the surgery for whatever reason and the disease ultimately killed him. Big Show had the surgery sometime in the 90s, and has recently been taking better care to watch his weight.

I don't know wrestling very much, but I observed (based on fans' reception) that the Demolition were heels in 1988, faces in 1989, and heels again in 1990, and faces again in 1991. They keep turning around so often that it's a bit confusing.

this match wasn't so much to let demolition regain the title, it was to allow andre to retire as one of the greatest faces of all time
