wonder when he was a student whether his teacher had minded the vocal obligato? or maybe he was such a genius his teacher tolerated it.

his mom taught him and she forced him to sing along with the piano, every single time sing along to the piano, she also taught him his weird posture, so you could ask her. Anyway, gould was a bit superstitious I'm sure he could have corrected his humming to the music but would it have destroyed his talent? I really don't think so, but Gould was forever worrying about not being able to play, long warm baths of his arms, his special chair all very superstitious.

so that's why he always use that little chair... but it's reasonable worrying about not being able to play. it i had such a gift, i probably consider myself worthless if i lose it.

@charmingemily, Gould had this habit of singing along while playing, LOL. You can catch it on recordings. Sort of eccentric habit, but charming. The guy is a freakin' genius!
