I think many times four wheelers get in too big of a hurry when driving around big trucks. If they only knew how many fatal crashes you guys see in a week I don't think they would be so quick to pass you to make their turns or exits. At least once a week my husband sees someone who has passed him driving badly ending up in a crash. He has seen many drivers drift over into his lane while texting which usually end up being the worst crashes according to the reports given after the sad fact.
you know I'm grateful to God that I get to drive truck and fulfill my lifelong dream but im ungrateful for the idiots with licenses that cut me off and expect my 60,000pound+ truck to stop on a dime and make subcompact tight left/right turns... this doesnt make me seem like a jackass trucker does it? is it too much to ask for some room?

In a lot of those clips, you weren't even cut off. A car going 20-25 mph fasting than you and changing lanes 5-6 car lengths in front of you has no affect on what you're doing. And then there was a car spinning out on ice and snow (yea, that makes someone an idiot). People "get into" accidents all the time to get large cash settlements. People will usually let commercial trucks hit them due to the fact that most states require $1-million min. liability. The second best choice is the elderly driving nice new Lincolns or Cadillacs. This is so sad. Sometimes these "victims" die. To me is isn't worth my life for $25,000.

i had my class A CDL since 1992, and a class C when they first implented them, and had a chauffers license before that, an i can tell you, this is an everyday occurrace because about 70% of Americans don't know how to drive. many were insufficiently taught, and many were taught by their parents, and the driving tests in many States is a joke at best. They thinkthey can drive like Europeans, when in fact, i know in Germany, they train and test hard, and enforce the laws to a "T"

I have great respect for truck drivers, but they aren't perfect drivers either. I hate it when they're doing fucking 90mph and weaving in and out of traffic. Before folks start wanting to blame a truck first try driving one of those and then make your comment. Some folks have no idea how close they've come to death and need to thank the Truck Driver for taking the action they did to avoid the collision. You have 80,000 lbs (40 tons) you have to manage and if you think it's going to stop, turn or swerve on a dime you're an idiot. We're already looking car lengths ahead of us just so we can anticipate what we need to do. Think about it.

I agree, I don't drive a big rig, but I do tow trailers, and it seems as though people think because you have extra wheels you can stop faster I think, because they sure as hell love to pull out in front of trucks/trailers, then wonder why they get their ass ran over. Or they cut you off from the far left lane because they were too busy on their cell phone to realize they are at their exit, but don't have the brains to just goto the next exit so they end up ran over.
@august0304 where i work, we have overweight permits for ALL of our trucks, cause the light loads are bout 45,000 lbs, not countin the truck with off-road service suspension, blowers, and winchin gear. to put it in perspective, theres enough weight that if i mash the brakes for all theyve got, it wont even lock up. ive only been drivin since april, and i cant even count the number of times somebody was an idiot, and if my reaction time was half a second slower, they wouldve been hood ornaments.

Ive ridden in a big rig many times. I know how wide they need to swing the trailer. He had an open space to move over into so he could make the turn. He still stayed in the right turn lane. The little car shouldve just waited. The rig moved back over into his lane once the trailer cleared the turn. Giving the small car all the time in the world to pass. When a rig is making a right turn....stay the hell away from it. Let it do its thing, then you can pass it. Lay off the trucker will you??
Ok.....some people on here are just ignorant when it comes to big rigs. That whole right turn thing WAS the small cars fault. Plain and simple. A big rig has a wide turning radius. You people forget that it's not just the cab that needs to make it around the turn. That turn was tight, forcing the driver to swing really wide. Speedy gonzales should've realized this and given the rig right of way. Im sure the trucker HAD his blinker ON!!! People are in too much of a hurry these days.

Near miss @ 2:34 looked like the truck drivers fault as he failed to slow when the van changed to the r/h lane... with signal and with plenty of distance between him and the truck. I could be wrong, but that's how I see it.
@aal49 Yes and no, he had time to reasonably slow for the lane change(which he did), but the suburban turned way too quick. Likewise he appeared to have literally stopped mid-turn for no apparent reason. If there was an incident(which Livevoltage answered that there was no contact), I would have ticketed the Suburban for impeding traffic and failure to signal a turn. He "signaled" but it was very inadequate since he made the turn within 20 feet of getting into the lane. But that's with WI laws.
@aal49 Umm...no. The trucker slowed down a while back when the Ranger hit their brakes. Truckers have to think ahead since it takes them so long to stop. He saw the Ranger hit it's brakes...so he slowed down knowing something was up. The Suburban moved over, slowed WAY the hell down for no reason, causing the big rig to slam on its brakes. That's not the truckers fault....thats a dumbass driver who's never turned into a parking lot before. I wouldve hit my horn.

You can signal all you want, it never fails some bastard in a regular car will cut you off to be first, then if you honk or get angry they will flip you off or display ignorance in some other way. It happens more times than I can count in a day.
So what's happening from 1:04 to 1:16? Everybody runs the red light, filming truck cuts across a lane (maybe because of the need for a very wide turn). The car cutting infront of the truck is the intended idiot driver, but what about the rest?

No.. don't you see. the trucker was in the right turn lane and had his right indicator on like you said, and it would APPEAR to everyone aorund him that he's STAYING in that lane.. at the last second with no warning he decides to change into the left lane (also turning right). All I'm saying is that when the car started to pass the truck trailer it would have seemed like truck was staying in his lane but then the truck changes lane and it's already too late for the car to back out

When making a turn in a semi you have to use all available room, the truck stayed on the white center line. At this intersection there is a double left turn lane and a double right turn lane. You only have two choices turn left or turn right. The Saturn was in the left turn lane trying to make a right turn and almost hit the car in front of him and the semi.
@Livevoltage1:10 OK but having a 53 foot trailer means the truck pulled left into the other right turn lane whilst that car was very much along side of his truck and almost past him. He would have had to in order for us to be able to see the car pass on the dash cam? So unless the car managed to cover a 53 foot trailer & his cab in less than 2 seconds the trucker obviously just pulled out without noticing that the car was along side and the trucker was wrong to do it. Simple as that.

I would wait because I'm not usually an impatient person but the clip at 1:10 clearly shows the trucker CHANGING lanes with little or no warning, and the car zips in front to avoid getting hit.. if you can't see from the lanes and the direction of the truck before he RANDOMLY swings into the next lane then you obviously don't do much driving because it's PLAIN to see that he should of either stayed in the left lane or waited til CLEAR to turn into right lane with INDICATION

@OhPhilly True but most of the time idoit cars pull over in front of truckers like they can stop a fully loaded truck in less than a 150ft like most cars.
@OhPhilly Yes you drive a small car, so you have no idea what it is to drive a large vehicle. Large vehicles need to make wide turns. Even something like a bus still needs to go wider then a tiny car. If you ever drive a large SUV, and if you pay attention, you will need to go wider around a corner then your tiny car, of course still not as wide as a big rig. Hopefully you know that big rigs take longer to stop then cars, so don’t cut in front and stop. cars need to slow down and relax

I have great respect for truck drivers, but they aren't perfect drivers either. I hate it when they're doing fucking 90mph and weaving in and out of traffic. First I think, wow that's a good driver and but then I think what an ass, because those trucks can't stop like a car can. More than likely it'll case multiple accidents.

1:10 not the truck drivers fault 1:18 next two cars exitin the highway knew what were they doing (they did not break in the lane of the truck). rest of the drivers r just pure fecal matter who deserve to be wiped off the road . Truckers drive nearly 40 tonnes . simple physics they cannot stop in the same time as the average car . Its a very difficult job both physically and mentally . I have a lot of respect for them .

Before folks start wanting to blame a truck first try driving one of those and then make your comment. Some folks have no idea how close they've come to death and need to thank the Truck Driver for taking the action they did to avoid the collision. You have 80,000 lbs (40 tons) you have to manage and if you think it's going to stop, turn or swerve on a dime you're an idiot. We're already looking car lengths ahead of us just so we can anticipate what we need to do. Think about it.

I agree, I don't drive a big rig, but I do tow trailers, and it seems as though people think because you have extra wheels you can stop faster I think, because they sure as hell love to pull out in front of trucks/trailers, then wonder why they get their ass ran over. Or they cut you off from the far left lane because they were too busy on their cell phone to realize they are at their exit, but don't have the brains to just goto the next exit so they end up ran over.

@august0304 where i work, we have overweight permits for ALL of our trucks, cause the light loads are bout 45,000 lbs, not countin the truck with off-road service suspension, blowers, and winchin gear. to put it in perspective, theres enough weight that if i mash the brakes for all theyve got, it wont even lock up. ive only been drivin since april, and i cant even count the number of times somebody was an idiot, and if my reaction time was half a second slower, they wouldve been hood ornaments.

However what ever way you look at it the car was going that way, was along side and the truck was wrong to pull left like that. I do though want to add its the only one time ive seen a truck do a bad move and cars just do not respect truckers at all.

Ive ridden in a big rig many times. I know how wide they need to swing the trailer. He had an open space to move over into so he could make the turn. He still stayed in the right turn lane. The little car shouldve just waited. The rig moved back over into his lane once the trailer cleared the turn. Giving the small car all the time in the world to pass. When a rig is making a right turn....stay the hell away from it. Let it do its thing, then you can pass it. Lay off the trucker will you??

Ok.....some people on here are just ignorant when it comes to big rigs. That whole right turn thing WAS the small cars fault. Plain and simple. A big rig has a wide turning radius. You people forget that it's not just the cab that needs to make it around the turn. That turn was tight, forcing the driver to swing really wide. Speedy gonzales should've realized this and given the rig right of way. Im sure the trucker HAD his blinker ON!!! People are in too much of a hurry these days.

Near miss @ 2:34 looked like the truck drivers fault as he failed to slow when the van changed to the r/h lane... with signal and with plenty of distance between him and the truck. I could be wrong, but that's how I see it.

@aal49 Yes and no, he had time to reasonably slow for the lane change(which he did), but the suburban turned way too quick. Likewise he appeared to have literally stopped mid-turn for no apparent reason. If there was an incident(which Livevoltage answered that there was no contact), I would have ticketed the Suburban for impeding traffic and failure to signal a turn. He "signaled" but it was very inadequate since he made the turn within 20 feet of getting into the lane. But that's with WI laws.

@aal49 Umm...no. The trucker slowed down a while back when the Ranger hit their brakes. Truckers have to think ahead since it takes them so long to stop. He saw the Ranger hit it's brakes...so he slowed down knowing something was up. The Suburban moved over, slowed WAY the hell down for no reason, causing the big rig to slam on its brakes. That's not the truckers fault....thats a dumbass driver who's never turned into a parking lot before. I wouldve hit my horn.

No.. don't you see. the trucker was in the right turn lane and had his right indicator on like you said, and it would APPEAR to everyone aorund him that he's STAYING in that lane.. at the last second with no warning he decides to change into the left lane (also turning right). All I'm saying is that when the car started to pass the truck trailer it would have seemed like truck was staying in his lane but then the truck changes lane and it's already too late for the car to back out

When making a turn in a semi you have to use all available room, the truck stayed on the white center line. At this intersection there is a double left turn lane and a double right turn lane. You only have two choices turn left or turn right. The Saturn was in the left turn lane trying to make a right turn and almost hit the car in front of him and the semi.

He would have had to in order for us to be able to see the car pass on the dash cam? So unless the car managed to cover a 53 foot trailer & his cab in less than 2 seconds the trucker obviously just pulled out without noticing that the car was along side and the trucker was wrong to do it. Simple as that.

I would wait because I'm not usually an impatient person but the clip at 1:10 clearly shows the trucker CHANGING lanes with little or no warning, and the car zips in front to avoid getting hit.. if you can't see from the lanes and the direction of the truck before he RANDOMLY swings into the next lane then you obviously don't do much driving because it's PLAIN to see that he should of either stayed in the left lane or waited til CLEAR to turn into right lane with INDICATION

@OhPhilly Yes you drive a small car, so you have no idea what it is to drive a large vehicle. Large vehicles need to make wide turns. Even something like a bus still needs to go wider then a tiny car. If you ever drive a large SUV, and if you pay attention, you will need to go wider around a corner then your tiny car, of course still not as wide as a big rig. Hopefully you know that big rigs take longer to stop then cars, so don’t cut in front and stop. cars need to slow down and relax
