  • But what if you WANT to sound more musical and stylistic to create a certain emotion or affect, i.e. an opera singer, or a very passionate singer like Tori Amos?

  • @roseanajjar Of course, you want to let the emotion of the song show. The way to do that is to be perfectly open and natural so that the meaning can come through you. It sounds fake if you 'create' the emotion and push.

  • @Sazian, good.

  • I cant jerk off to this...

  • Hi Sally, i dont think im a good singer, but everyone tells me i am. I really want to become a good singer, so i can be more confertable to sing infront of people. I think the problem is, is that flem is always in my throat, and i always swallow it, i never spit it out and i think its clogging my throat. In some notes, yes i'm pretty good at them, but high notes, are just dreadful. Please help me!

  • @flinchoz I'm happy to help you. It's what I do best - help singers get all the 'stuff' out of the way so your natural voice can come through.

Very unusual for phlegm to get caught in your throat more than a sec. Try Vvvv-like motorcycle

The best thing for you to do is study singing with me. I can't solve all your issues in an email. The least expensive/best training is on my website. Go to singlikeyouspeak. com/join-stage-1/ and enter the code GREATDEAL to get 6-wks for only 10 dollars!

  • Do you have any advice for singers with allergies. I have them pretty bad and I have a pretty good voice. I feel like the allergies hold me back. If you do have any good advice for this I would like a video :) I think it would really help a lot of people.

  • @dcrab16 I think the worst part about the allergies is feeling like you have no energy. Breathing always helps us feel more energetic. Then you feel like the space you sing through has been reduced and may be, but where you feel that narrowing, try to widen on your inhale.

I'd like to know how you feel it holds you back - be specific.

I'll do my best to make a video for you. All the best!

  • @sallymmorgan It definitely makes me feel like the space I am singing through is very small, and that I cannot breath correctly. I feel that I have formed my voice to fit within the walls that these allergies keep me in. Thank you for the help.

  • @dcrab16 There are ways to help you expand that space, so if you'd like to schedule a lesson with me, let me know. It can be done!

  • Number has been disconnected.

  • Hey (:!

I really love your videos & you.

Everytime when I sing I hear my voice clearly and fine & than when I record it I just say : OMG,what a awful voice .!It's really sad I think, cuz I always thought my voice were good & ppl tell me that my voice's good but I hate my voice :(!How can I habituate to my really recorded voice?Sry for my bad english :(!♥

  • @changesx3 Hi, I'm so glad the videos are helpful. Most people do not like to hear their recorded voice. It's so different from what we expect it to be. I'm sure your voice isn't awful. Everyone can sing, you just have some bad habits that won't let your voice come out. Best thing to do is get training. Best and least expensive training is online. Best online training is SingLikeYouSpeak. com. Check it out. All the best to you.

Next time if you question is more specific, I can help you better

  • my voice sounds really breathy, is there a way to fix this?

  • @itachimercenary15 :Yes. Breathy quality comes from using the breath in a way that isn't efficient. One way for you to learn to connect the breath to the strongest muscles is to imitate a motorcycle with a 'V' - just vvvvv. Also, take a look at SingerQuickFix. com and scroll down to the Breathing Video. It will do you a LOT of good! All the best,

    Sally

  • Dear Sally, I really can't sing, I have done all the studying that you've suggested, and I still sound horrible! Please help me, singing is a passion but it feels like I cant carry through with my passion as I cant sing :/

  • @morethanmemories1 Hi! First of all, I"m sure you're not horrible. Everyone has a great voice - most voices are just covered with bad habits, that's all. The videos I put up here are little helpers for people, but not really detailed voice lessons. I do teach privately - if you are not in the NYC area, then I use Skype to teach people all over the world. A less expensive way to study is on my website, SingLikeYouSpeak. com. Check that out and let me know what you think. Good luck!

  • @sallymmorgan I sing like Cleveland from family guy and im going to make it a trend, youll see. People will begin to take it very seriously and it will become a well known art!!!! ;p

  • @morethanmemories1

i know how you feel but all you can do is practice practice practice and have hope :D i know it sounds cheesy but it works my mom always says " some people are born with it but some people have to work hard for it " so if you work hard you could maybe get to that point where you CAN sing. i mean all it takes is dedication and time

  • ok i want to sing good but when i sing i think i sound horrible which makes me not want to sing in front of anyone. and when i try the singing exercises i can't make them work because i don't get it. do you have any tips for me, because i barely sing but i want to change that.

  • @lexigirl42 Study, take lessons is the best advice I can give you. Even singing stars study voice. The least expensive most effective way to study is through my website, SingLikeYouSpeak. com. Take a look!

  • -(definitely don't have the money for lessons) but nothing works. I still sound terrible):

  • @PearlJayme1x17 Learning to sing takes time and practice - lots of it for some people. As far as the money, it's really not that much if you study online - SingLikeYouSpeak. com. Also take a look at my video called Vocal Damage Healed by Sing Like You Speak Singing Technique. You can learn a lot from this. Good luck!

  • Hi Sally! Just wanted to tell you that this video really helped me. I have a question though, do you think it's possible for everyone to develop an amazing singing voice or do you have to be born with at least a little bit of talent? The reason I am asking is because i really want to sing well to accompany my guitar playing but I just can't get it. I've been trying everything, practicing everyday, warming up before I sing, using my diaphragm, basically all the tips I could find on YouTube(defin

  • @PearlJayme1x17 I think there are people who have a natural talent for music. It's not necessarily the singing that they have a talent for. PEople who become very good at singing are really dedicated to learning how their voice works. When you practice, it depends WHAT you are practicing, what is the focus of your practice, what are you thinking. Take a look at this video Practcie Tip From SingLikeYouSpeak™ here on youtube. Also, try my online lessons - they are very, very good and inexpensive!

  • can u be my teacher? lol

  • @4hekk Absolutely! I work w/students all over the world on Skype. Also, my SingLikeYouSpeak. com website has video lessons and a live chat with me every week. Take a look and let me know what you think!

  • Sally - how can I spend a week with you!

  • @bc11210 LOL! How sweet. Actually years ago, students would live with their music teachers - it's a great way to embody all the good habits of singing. You could schedule a week's worth of lessons. That would be fun. I teach singers all over the world on Skype. We could even give you a bit of a discount for a week of lessons. Let me know.

  • I love your videos! You're funny but you also really help too!

  • @TheDinseyChannelfan Thank you! I'm so glad the videos help. That's what they are there for. If you want even more help, take a look at my website, SingLikeYouSpeak. com for lots more lessons. Enjoy!

  • i have a question. i can sing, its just when i sing infront of people i get so nervous i sound like crap. how can i get rid of that???

  • @redheadgirlforever When you're nervous, your body tenses up and as a result, your voice does too. When you feel more confident and prepared singing, then some of the nerves will go away. Just doing it more often helps. Check out my website SingLikeYouSpeak. com to find some more practical solutions.
