@GeriHew I have listened to Joplin and I still feel the same. Joss has multiple styles, she can sing rock, punk, hiphop, blues, funk and so on. I choose not to put her in a Joplin box, she does not fit anyway. She has drawn from many artists, but she put her own flavor on it. The Joplin tag does not fit her. Look at her performances, many of them are not in the Joplin style. Joplin is one of many singers Joss has drawn from

Here is how television dumbs down real stuff. American Idol producers have failed badly. The arrangement is ridiculous with the addition of the choir. It forces Jeff Beck to pull back completely on his guitar work - it is now so muted it is hardly worth listening to - and the sound of the vocal and guitar working together is completely lost to allow space for the choir. Watch the performance entitled I Put A Spell on You (HQ) and see how it can really be performed

She is one of the best vocalists live i have ever seen and so humble cute and funny and engaging with the audience . My original post was more to express that fact than anything else.
