    January 30, 2012 12:17 am

  • womthxtll

  • I noticed there's two versions of this ad: One with the Model 1 Genesis and one with the Model 2 Genesis.

  • I still don't know what blast processing is. :[

  • SEGA!!

  • ITS SLIGHTLY FASTER!!! TO THE MAX!!!!

  • Ecco 2 was one of the best games that I have played

  • Hey, today is 1/3 the same day this recording of this commercial aired.

  • Sega does what Ninten-don't!!

  • God I miss the video game war between Sega and Nintendo. Fun times!

  • You know who else has blast processing? MY MOM!!!

  • @WebVManReturns

NO, she's definately slow. I did howeer blast process her ass.

  • Hello Nintendo. Look at your console, now back to ours. Now back at your console, now back to ours.

  • I Have Model 1386. It Looks Like That.

  • Yes but can it run crysis?

  • Some say he has blast processing in his brain, and it was actually his eyes that said "SEGA!"

All we know is he's called the Stig.

  • i wonder if the kids who watched this knew what blast processing was?

  • They probably should have picked a less impressive SNES game than Super Mario Kart in this. It's much better than Ecco the Dolphin.

  • 11 people dont have Blast Processing

  • @ramiretz 11 people also got a nintendo

  • @ramiretz 11 people also got a nintendo

  • ZE blast processing, it does nothing!

  • I remember Uniracers on SNES being pretty fast

  • "Well I have Blast processing"

    "OK anh what is that?"

    "It's...uh............IT'S BLAST PROCESSING!"

    "OK WHATEVER!"

  • Sega had great ad campaigns. Dang back then no one was afraid to poke fun at the others competition, they don't do that as much anymore.

  • i miss you sega genesis!! i was a fool to give you away... o well, i still got ya on my ds/pc :D

  • Still have my Genesis hooked up and play it at least once a week.

  • I Used To Own The Sega Genesis

  • I think the Genesis and SNES are pretty much equals. They are both awesome 16-bit machines, I think we can all agree on that.

  • How does the joystick has only three buttons on the right side? Where's the x y and z?

  • @Tomytoism

You're thinking of the 6 button controller. This was before that controller was made.

  • Sega was great at ads in this day in age.

  • More Games: Genesis

    Best Rpg: SNES

Best Partnership: SNES (Square and NIntendo)

    Best Sports Games: Genesis

    No Censorship: Genesis (MK1)

    Most Popular: SNES

    Overall: Tie

  • @Nubecuube Gene's sold more in American then eh super nes did.

  • @TheDukeljk really, some website told me sega won by like 1 million sales

  • @Nubecuube Best D-Pad: Mega Drive

    SEGA wins.

  • @RetroShinigami I agree, dude. Long Live Sega!

  • I want Dreamcast 2. Sonic Adventure 3 will attract so many people back again, that Sega will get even more confident that they were some 20 years ago.

  • SEGA DOES WHAT NINTENDON"T :D

  • @RetroShinigami

I think they're still making arcade hardware in Japan, right? I know they used to be masters of arcade hardware. Along with Taito, Atari, Data East, Sunsoft/Sun Electronics, and Nintendo, Sega is one of the oldest video game manufacturers out there. They made *significantly* more arcade games than Nintendo & had some of the most advanced hardware. Power Drift was a powerhouse & was pretty much the 1st kart racer (too bad Sega didn't do more with it).

  • @wtcvidman I agree. Taito, Data East and Sun Electronics were great companies. Too bad they are past their prime nowadays, and never gotten the popularity that Capcom, Konami, and Nintendo had.

Taito is owned by Square Enix nowadays, Data East went bankrupt in 2003 and G-Mode owns their rights, and all SUNSOFT/Sun Electronics does nowadays is make majonng games and sound novels. If only they went back to the way they used to be, before the NON-JAPANESE began to take over the game industry...

  • remember when Sega tried to convince us that Ecco was fun?

  • @BarbieBoy1997

I could never get into that game. That & those damn FMV games for the Sega CD that I avoided like a plague.

  • @wtcvidman It always perplexes me how so many people can detest Ecco. It had a unique gameplay style, sick synth music and gorgeous graphics - plus cover art by Boris Vallejo!

However, I'm behind you 100% about that FMV crap.

  • @BarbieBoy1997 i love that game XD ...

  • @BarbieBoy1997

    I like Ecco

  • nintendo nes, excelent....super nintendo, i love it.... nintendo 64, great.... gamecube, sucks.... nintendo wii, a big shit!!

  • @maxryu100 at final.... OBJECTION!

  • @magodeck jejeje, well.. the wii is good XD

  • @RetroShinigami

Yeah. Regardless of cooperation with Microsoft, I think the upcoming generation of handhelds will allow Sega or someone else to come in with a handheld of their own. I don't think developers are gung ho about developing 3D games for the 3DS and I don't think Sony is serious enough about the Vita given what I saw lately with the PSP & how they didn't make it as competitive as it should have been with the DS. So I think that leaves a big opportunity for someone else to come in.

  • Nintendo is my grandpa!! I'M SEGA!!!

  • @RetroShinigami

Isn't that a phone though? Are there any serious gamers who play games on a phone?

  • Maybe?

  • How Sega died: Well, PS2 lowered sales of the Dreamcast, and PlayStations were caused by Nintendo switching to Phillips then to CDi, so Nintendo caused Sega's death from making consoles 10 years before PS2, and that led to Sony. So, it's Nintendo and maybe Sony's fault for Sega not making consoles.

  • @MrMinemonBound

I think Sega's end of making consoles is partly due to them for making the Saturn so hard to develop games for. It led to an early death of the Saturn in the U.S. and led to an early release of the Dreamcast, which I think could have lasted had it come out after the PS2. I think if Sega really got its act together they could return in the near future with a handheld to rival the 3DS & Vita, Maybe even get a Microsoft as a 3rd party developer for such a handheld.

  • @MrMinemonBound

But with Sega's current line of games & their choices, I don't think they're up to it. I'm sure they would have 10-15 years ago. It's a shame since I don't expect big things from the Vita given Sony's handling of the PSP as of late & the lack of a good amount of 3rd party games later in its life. It's a shame since I really love the PSP. There's a huge opportunity for a company to get in there now with a handheld especially if they get Microsoft as a 3rd party developer.

  • mario kart games suck balls sega is the best fuckin wii nintendo is shit

  • pause

    play

    press 9

SAGAT (LOL I KNW HE SAYS SEGA)

  • @TrainerRedHD I remember I was always disapointed that when the sega logo came up o genesis games they did that seeeegaaaaaaaa thing instead of "SEGA!"

  • You don't see commercials like this anymore. You can never find a commercial that compares two products by showing your competitor's product next to yours to help aid in promoting why your product is superior.

I guess they'd get sued if they tried it today.

  • and so the rivalry begins between the mascots

  • SEGA!

  • HEY! Don't you dare fade to black on me, commercial! You still haven't told me what blast processing actually does!

To hell with it. During the Console Wars technology didn't have to be technical. Anybody else remember trying to explain to their parents what a "bit" was?

  • Nintendo hit back with the Super FX chip which was built into carts, but I still think the Mega Drive was the better console. But the Mega Drive didn't have a game like Mario Kart which is a SNES classic.

  • @borobengal

You mean like a classic driving game? It had its own classics like the Shinobi series, Sonic series, Altered Beast, and some others, but not really a game involving Sonic, Flicky, Alex Kidd & its other franchise characters all in one game. It had many driving games, like Super Monaco GP, Outrunners, Out Run 2019, etc. but none like Mario Kart. It's weird though because in 1988 Sega made the first ever kart racer, Power Drift, which was a monster hardware-wise.

  • @wtcvidman dont forget Virtua Racing!

  • @borobengal

The arcade version of Power Drift blows Mario Kart away with its awesome tilting cabinet & great scaling & rotation effects. It had three 68000 processors (the game's hardware was 3x more powerful than the Genesis console) & a ton of cars & generic characters to choose from. The tracks were awesome too, like a roller coaster. I can't believe Sega never ported it to the Genesis or even better the Sega CD. They instead ported it to their competitor, NEC's Turbo Grafx 16/PC Engine.

  • @borobengal

Also Sega made the SVP (Sega Virtua Processor) which was their answer to the Super FX chip, but released it too late & only used it on Virtua Racing. Nintendo was very smart in using the Super FX chip in games like Star Fox & the Super FX 2 chip later on for Yoshi's Island.

Oh yeah, Sega did make a Sonic kart racer on the Game Gear called Sonic Drift, which had a sequel. I'm surprised they never released Genesis versions of the games.

  • Don`t just tell me that they insulted Super Mario Kart!!!! >:(

  • blast processing never existed, it was a gimmick that sega made up, so i would take a super nintendo

  • @Supergamerofchaos

Well technically there is no term called blast processing, but what the marketers described as blast processing was the Genesis' ability to process data quick enough that screens of sprites & maps were created while the current screen was showing, which allowed for quick games & far less slowdown than the SNES, which used its main processor for other effects the Genesis didn't have. So each has its advantages, which is why I have both.

  • @Supergamerofchaos stronger processor but crappy sound hardware on most games

  • @Animation1111 Not just crappy sound hardware its graphics were crap also compared to the SNES.This was mainly due to the fact the Genesis had a color palette of only256 colors while the SNES had 32768.Overall the SNES was the better system. It had the best versions of multi-platform games. To top it all off it was the 1st console ever to have a six button controller. The Genesis was only good for the Sega made exclusives.

  • @xboxmodder02 In earlier games yes and it did come before the snes. It did show good graphics in a good amount though like mk3. they used a strategy to get better sound less crappy. sega made exclusives are better looking though like sonic

  • SNES: Mario World, Link to Past, Super Metroid, Mario Kart, Chrono Trigger.

GENESIS: Sonic 2, Castle of Illusion, Vectorman, Streets of Rage 2, Phantasy Star IV.

And they both have Earthworm Jim so I say they're both the best game system of all time ;)

  • I am a big fan of old Sega, but I find it hilarious how Sony killed Sega with essentially the same bullshit claims Sega made against Nintendo.

Emotion engine anyone? But then again, what does Sony have that wasn't stolen from other companies? Rumble, internet, installing games on hard drive, motion detection, All ideas Sony claimed were stupid and useless, and then stole from Nintendo, Sega and MS. Thats why Nintendo will always be better. They are willing to take chances on new things.

  • funny nintendo still around but sega system is dead they only make games to cough cough nintendo xbox and ps 3 ha you got owned sega

  • I still have my original sega genesis model 2 with all the sonic games and golden axe, streets of rage, columns, and gouls n ghosts! They all still work great. Screw the wii, ps3 xbox 360 this is where its at.

  • SSSEGA!!

  • Sega!!!!

  • Whoops! Second controller sold separately! Point for Super Nintendo!

  • someone broke in and stole my sega genesis 16bit, but left my PS3!

  • @DewbieHaut

Man that sucks. Sorry to hear that.

  • @wtcvidman

    Too funny.

  • @DewbieHaut

Sounds about right. I mean, which one gives you better games? Yeah, PS3 looks sharp, but really, which one do you LIKE the best.

  • @DewbieHaut

Should have been the other way around. :P

  • @DewbieHaut must be a Nintentard

  • @DewbieHaut what a dick

  • @DewbieHaut tht sux, poor you man

  • SEEEEEE GAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • I picked up a copy of sonic in box at a thrift store yesterday for 1 DOLLAR! the box is in nice condition but someone ripped the NOT FOR RESALE bit off the actual cartridge. the wuss. also I dont even have a genesis, but I want one! :D

  • I really wish i had the genesis, SEGA THE ALL POWERFUL GAMING ENTERPRISEEEEEEEE

  • @P11m4st4h

Well, they're pretty cheap on Ebay if you want to still get one. There are also Genesis clone consoles, but those may not work with every game. Sega released 3 Genesis models (the 1st is the one in this ad), the Nomad (which is a portable Genesis), and the Genesis CDX, which is a Genesis-Sega CD combo console. I own the CDX, which is great because it's like a CD player with a Genesis slot & it came with a bunch of great games including Sonic CD.

  • @wtcvidman Don't forget the JVC branded X-Eye, a Sega Genesis and Sega CD in one combo.

  • @theguruguys

Man, I'm so glad you told me about that. My CDX has been having problems reading CDs lately. I read other people having the same problems. I don't know if the laser is dirty or needs replacement or if it's the motor. But I'm hoping the X-Eye has a stronger laser that isn't prone to dirt. Still, it would be nice if I could get my CDX repaired somewhere. The Genesis part works fine.

Is the X-Eye's control ports compatible with Genesis controllers, especially the 6 button controller?

  • @wtcvidman Yup I own an X-eye and it works with every controller I've thrown into it. It will not work with 32x however.

  • @theguruguys

That's OK. I think the 32X should work with my CDX. Did your X-Eye ever give you problems with the laser or the motor for the CD loading portion or is it still working just like it did when you first got it?

  • "Blast Processing", according to an issue of Retro Gamer magazine, came from when a programmer discovered a way to create 256-colour static images on the Mega-CD dev kit. The Technical Director at Sega of America (or someone like that, who mentioned he hated the term "blast processing" in the issue of Retro Gamer) mentioned this to the marketing people, referred to it as "blasting data into the VACs" in his discription. The marketing people liked the word "Blast", and the rest is history!

  • @MattTheSaiyan Just to correct myself: I meant DAC ("digital to analogue converter"), not "VAC".

  • wow! back in the days console wars was like " in your face"

This among many other commercials demonstrates it well

  • The Blast Proccesing in the NTSC (American) consoles always was faster than their PAL (European - Australian) counterparts.

  • Lol those were the comercials showing some dirty tactics lol.

  • I like it when the commerical showed Sonic 2 more than any other game. *SHOT*

  • Sega could sell anything back then.

  • ECCO THE DOLPHIN! FUCK YEAH! HARDCORE!

  • Sega was suprior to NES, but the games were less accessable to the younger audiences and not as cost effective, sometimes. Hell, the Master System was better than the NES and the Genesis is better than the SNES. It's a shame it died with the Dreamcast.

  • @viraticwars

Well each console had its advantages. The Genesis was definitely more powerful than the SNES with its faster processor, but the SNES had better sound hardware & could display more colors. I had the Genesis CDX while my brother had a SNES, so we had the best of both worlds & we enjoy both consoles. I think the Master System was great, but Sega waited too long to introduce it. By the time they did, the NES took the market after the 1983 crash.

  • @viraticwars

I'd like Sega to get back to making consoles, but I doubt it will happen with Sony's & Microsoft's control of the market. I think they may still be making arcade hardware in Japan. That was Sega's real specialty. They were masters of arcade hardware. They were making games in the mid 80's that were more powerful than the hardware of consoles in the 90's. Power Drift for one was a monster. It used four 68000 processors & they had 32-bit hardware as of '91 w/ their System 32 hardware

  • so what dose Blast Processing do? well it adds 4 GHz to the cpu frequence in compare to snes "Genesis's 7.6 MHz SNES's 3.6 MHz "

  • Mario Kart was a bad example to use, it utilized mode 7, something that Sega didn't have.

  • aaah, remember the times when this was allowed on commercials?

  • a cheap shot commercial.........just can't compete against a classic

  • Does he say "faggot' right at the end? That's be fucking awesome.

  • @BlacklockTV

    No he yelled Sega.

  • Mario Kart was ace on the SNES and still is. I was more into my Mega Drive than SNES, but there wasn't a game on the Mega Drive that matched Mario Kart.

  • @borobengal

Do you mean racing game? The Genesis did have Super Monaco GP, though that one is a 1st person view game (I like 3rd person view better). The Sega CD had Jaguar XJ220 which was really good.

If you like kart racers, Sega's Game Gear had Sonic Drift & Sonic Drift 2, which were kart racers featuring Sonic, Tails, Metal Sonic, Dr. Robotnik, etc. and were both very good. Shame that they never made Genesis versions of those games since I never had a Game Gear.

  • @wtcvidman sonic drift? very good? are you insane, sonic drift is an insult for sonic series

  • @TheSmashbros45

You didn't like it? I thought the Sonic Drift series was a nice kart racer series featuring Sonic characters & can't really be compared to the platformer games.

I'd like to see it return, but I don't think Nintendo would want a competing kart racer series on the Wii or upcoming Wii U when they have the Mario Kart series and possibly Diddy Kong Racing (if they bring it back), even with Sega now being a 3rd party developer for them. Perhaps Sega could make one for the PS3 & Xbox.

  • @wtcvidman Sega made "Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing", than game is pretty good, it was released for Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, PC and iPod touch

and there is also Sonic R, it was released for Sega Saturn, PC, Playstation 2 and Gamecube, some people hate sonic r others like it, i actually like sonic r the only problem with this game was the music

  • @borobengal sonic alone owned everything the snes had to offer. better then mario thats for sure

  • @cjjtheone Super Castlevania IV, Mega Man X, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy III would like to have a word with you.

  • @andoc GASP!!! put my hat on and zoom out the door. youll never take me alive!!!

  • Oh Sega. I love you, but you're like that one kid at school who used to show up someone else's achievements by saying your dad was a secret ninja spy who worked for the FBI and owned a giant robot. I.e., talks a load of bullcrap XD

  • Silly SEGA they advertised SNES aswell as their GENISIS BLAST PROCESSING

  • SEGA!!!!

  • It's actually true that the Sega Genesis had a faster processor than the Super Nintendo. The Super Nintendo was still capable of a lot more features. Nevertheless Sega Genesis games did not suffer from nearly as much slowdown as a lot of super nintendo titles.

  • omg i had evry game out 4 it gd old days gd old days

  • Funny how they tried to mock Mario Kart, which had scaling and rotation…

  • spots like this are absolutly forbidden in germany. but they are so funny.

  • I hated Sega's advertising campaign. The MegaDrive was amazing though.

  • WELCO

    METOT

    HENEX

    TLEVEL.

  • I'm one of those Sega fans that don't like when Blast Processing is called bullshit (faster processor is advantage, even if it's not a magical thingamajigba that commercial leads everyone to believe). But even I think that Mario Kart in this commercial didn't look that sluggish.

  • Think about it Atari/coleco/c64 started it and when the 80's game crash came. Nintendo joined then Sega then Sony after a fall out with Nintendo then Xbox pushed its way in. What im saying is everyone gets ideas from the others and want to join the game. This makes the others push harder to stay in the game ,so they make the best system they can. As i said i like all hardware and software as all has something to offer. Ps: i know there is many other consoles i was just making a point

  • Some real ignorant fucks around here as all hardware/software has made gaming what it is today. Yes the genesis had a faster pcu chip while the snes had alot better sound and gfx chips. Real gamers like all consoles and computer technology as this is what makes better systems.

  • Competition is great - no doubt Genesis and SNES were no excpetion to that rule. I had a SNES and later a Genesis. One had an advantage over the other, but both systems were great in thier own right.

  • SEGA!!!

  • The sega has blast processing, the SNES doesn't... So what does blast processing do? *Puts on cartridge* *TV speeds away* Wow, thank you, sega! Now i can't play my genesis anymore ¬¬

  • Comment removed

  • @ARAGON1009

Well, even though there was more of a focus on graphics, the games at the time had amazing gameplay and gameplay itself was more important than graphics. For me, it was the first 3D generation that created the "graphics whores" since that's when gameplay went to hell (like the Castlevania series) and controls for games became overly complicated with too many buttons & other stuff. That generation made me stop buying new consoles & games and I didn't get back to it until last year.

  • @ARAGON1009 WHAT THE FUCK MAN???!!! You kidding me? Everyone has always cared about graphics; Sega had great games and great graphics to boot. It's all about what you grew up on - I first had a Genesis back in 98 when Playstation was ruling the gaming land. XBOX 360 started the graphics > gameplay shit, which caused the horrid Call of Duty series.

Know what else? The economy caused graphics over gameplay. Do the same thing and don't take a chance to be different = safe marketing.

  • @metalpayne3 thats what you say i say that genesis did it and i am not complaining abouth genesis i think it is a greate console but i still say that genesis started it

  • @metalpayne3 360 started the graphics over gameplay thing? You have no clue...

It existed back in the 2600 vs. Colecovision vs. Intellivision phase. It really became a factor in the SNES vs. Genesis war, and became HUGE when the Saturn and PS1 came out. The 360 wasn't even close to beginning that. You're more than 25 years off!

  • @Firebomber7 Well then video games were always about Graphics, then. At least we can agree that games suck nowadays.

  • @ARAGON1009 So you watched an AVGN video and shit part of it back out of your mouth in an attempt to seem like you had some kind of clever little thought. And considering the genesis came out in 1998 i doubt your old enough to even remember it

  • @fortykebabs Excuse me 1988

  • @fortykebabs im just gonna say 2 words my opinion

  • I think it was a good thing SNES didn't have blast processing.

  • @Luigifan2000

Actually there's no such thing as blast processing. The term was made up to describe the ability of the Genesis' main processor to calculate maps & sprites beyond what was displayed on screen which allowed some games to have very fast speed. So it's not a technically correct term but it does describe an advantage the Genesis had over the SNES since its main processor was more powerful than that of the SNES, though the SNES had a bigger color palette & better sound hardware.

  • I know blast processing was made up. There's even an achievement named after it!

  • @wtcvidman Terrific point you make. I totally agree with you. I personally liked both systems, and as you say; the SNES did have more colors and better sound hardware. Yet, the Genesis did have a speed advantage - and I think that works great for games such as Sonic, ect. I think the winner is the gamer, as we have the choice of both systems. There are some out there who are posting profanity on the subject of which game system is better, but I think both systems had unique advantages...

  • @wtcvidman Wasn't this before the SNES came out? I thought it was directed at the original NES.

    Correct me if I am wrong, i'm a 5th, 6th gen gamer.

  • @SamPD2

No, the Super Nintendo came out in 1991 & this commercial first came out sometime in 1992. The one that was directed at the Nintendo was the "Genesis Does What Nintendon't" commercial, which came out when the Genesis came out back around 1989-1990.

  • @wtcvidman Oh yeah, Sorry, I gone stupid there for a minute.

  • @wtcvidman - In other words it's more or less like a marketing term than an actual feature. Kinda' like the megahertz myth where it is said that the faster the clock speed your computer has, the better will it perform, even though there are other factors to consider besides clock speed.

  • @blakegriplingph

Sort of, except it did refer indirectly to an advantage/feature of the Genesis. The actual feature is the more powerful CPU that the Genesis had. It allowed the Genesis to be able to handle more things on screen without slowing down which the SNES couldn't handle as well. It also allowed maps of sprites to be calculated/created quicker, which allowed for the speed of Sonic games, Vectorman, Gunstar Heroes, etc.

Nintendo used things like the Super FX chip to eliminate slowdown.

  • @wtcvidman - Although they did exaggerate things a bit when they used the term.

  • @wtcvidman , sort of, from memory, the term describes the ability of the Megadrive to "blast" data across the cpu bus between scan lines, thus shifting large amounts of data with almost no system resource penalty.

    ....from memory. :)

  • @wtcvidman I thought it was something akin to DMA? Meaning that you could load stuff from the cartridge while letting the processor do the game stuff simultanously?

  • @megaDudeMegaDude

I think you may be right.

  • "So what's Blast Processing do?" Well it can't play Super Mario Kart, which is the best game shown in this commercial.

  • LMAO..I remember this commercial. I still have my sega in orginal box and is like brand new, clean and I only take it out once in awhile to play cuz I hate messing with my wires :P I also have Nintendo 64. My first Nintendo crapped out, have to many friends coming over to play it :) I love the old games... Im freaking old LOOOL!!!

  • @MegaPuffykitty

Nah, you're not old. You just like great games & IMO the best ones are the ones that came out in the 8-bit & 16-bit generations.

  • @wtcvidman Thanks :) but I must say, it is very cool to be able to play games that are not so much around or have not been thrown out or abused. It's cool :)

  • @MegaPuffykitty

Yeah, I still have all my games & took very good care of them, their boxes & manuals.

By the way, if you still have your original Nintendo, you may be able to get it fixed depending on what the problem is. Mine was glitching out with flashing screens & scrambled video and once I replaced the 72-pin connector, it started working like it did when it was new so I don't have to blow on the cartridges anymore. Buying a new connector is pretty cheap & it's not hard to replace.

  • I still have my 1993 Sega Gen I love it.

  • Oh come on, that's not true. Super Nintendo can do as much as Sega can.

  • @TaInTeDlYnX SEGA is planning to enter the game tablet market 10 years after leaving the hardware business. They have filed a new trademark "KIDSPAD". PM me for details.

  • @TaInTeDlYnX

Sega had some sweet deals. I uploaded a commercial where they offered Sonic 2 for free right when it came out with a Genesis console that came with Sonic 1. I'd like Sega to return to making consoles again someday.

I'm surprised you didn't see any TG-16 ads back then. I remember seeing some on the TV, but the most I saw were in the comics I was collecting at the time. There was a period of time where games like Bonk's Adventure & Splatter House were advertised in every issue.

  • @TaInTeDlYnX

Yeah, you have a point. But for me, the 16-bit era was a tie between Nintendo & Sega since from my memory both were selling games very well & had big fanbases. And the Genesis had games with more violence & blood that attracted the teens/pre-teens that were around my age at the time. And it did have 2 years of sales before the SNES was released. So I'm not sure when people say Nintendo won, what they're referring to. Units sold? Both consoles were solid. Even the TG-16 was great.
