One of the greatest low budget films. I saw the Australian debut of his other later splat film 'Braindead' with Peter introducing it and taking questions after. He's a deeply interesting man with amazing passion and talent for film making and direction. He deserves all the success and money he earns!
there should be a once-in-a-lifetime award called "Saint of Film", and Peter Jackson should have one, just for this picture, made only with passion.. also think of sam raimi for ex. with the first Evil Dead... films made with zero budget but with a lot a dedication and motivation..
been a massive peter jackson fan since i first saw this film in 94 on bbc2, this doc was on afterwards and been looking for it since!! its been awesome to see him becoming a true movie making legend! i love the fact that mainstream movie fans can go back thru his career and find stuff like bad taste and meet the feebles!!
What they said at the end made me smile, since it was made even before Meet the Feebles they had no idea he'd turn out to be a 3 time oscar winner in only about 10 years. tee hee
I have a mini print that was given to me by the program director for my indie theater. They had just shown B.T. for the second time as part of the cult series and I missed the showing. He gave it to me because we both love to bs with each other.
I have seen it at that same theater on the big screen. It was shown just once and I made damn sure to make it. It rocks in the theater...and in the home as well.
Got 2 copies of the dvd also, single disc and limited ed.
If you have the single disc, you will notice the cover is two sided. One with Lord Crumb flipping you off, the other side had him using his index and middle finger. Your choice for display.
The reasoning behind was not to offend, I guess. Just a little geeky knowledge.
What ever you do, don't hold me to these words. I heard rumors of a P.J. box set. I think that if that does happen, I would venture a guess...the docus would be included. I am just hoping he wakes up and does Bad Taste 2. I love him and all, but he needs to go back to his roots. King Kong ruined him and doing BT2 would have the fans cheering again.
I thought his King Kong was a nice tip of the hat back to what his old films were all about. It had a lot of gore (compared to the Rings Trilogy) and had a great sense of escapism. I don't think it ruined him.
And if you mean it ruined his chances at making more films, are you kidding? He can do whatever the hell he wants now. He's just taking a break from directing big blockbusters. He did four 3 hour long epics in a row
a very long time ago (I can't remember) I saw a behind the scenes footage of braindead/ dead alive. I only saw towards the end where the giant mommy monster is on the roof of the house and the showed the person in the monster suite and the miniature replica of the house. I have been searching for that documentary for I do not know who made it. I do not even know if it was a documentary for only braindead or if it was part of a compilation.
Peter, if you are to make another film, make it like this! Please!!! This and Braindead are the best films ever made with a low-budget! If you want, i could write a script for Bad Taste 2!
Amazing film, great tribute to creativity and sheer fun in film making. Saw this in a film class in High School and loved it ever since. The humor is hilarious but you need a strong stomach to watch it. The machine gun scene with the tree was the bomb.
Who else was NOT expecting the flying house! xD That reminded me of the time when the castle flew away in the RHPS

Peter Jackson should do one more low-budget movie or just make a huge Spatter film like no one has ever seen but I don't think he could top Braindead

This is a thing i have to ask Peter Jackson:
Peter, if you are to make another film, make it like this! Please!!! This and Braindead are the best films ever made with a low-budget! If you want, i could write a script for Bad Taste 2!
