  • whats the name of the intro song?

  • @TheLaMoFo Captain Beefheart - Hard Working Man.

  • I am a hard working fucked over man.............Love this film, one of the very best of the 70's, grossly over looked........as a union man i feel everyone who works should see this.

Pryor was a GOD of comedy, but it's a shame he didn't do more straight dramatic roles as he's terrific in this. Does anyone know what the Ry Cooder song is called? Its amazing.

  • @tommytoploader OH! It's Captain Beefheart.......cool!

  • They do not make movies like this anymore when actors were just plain cool and real. no pretentious bullshit like the garbage they put out today. Great movie.

  • Cool, Just watched it today! Haven't seen this in years....Peace

  • lmao UAW U AIN'T WORKING!

  • whats the name of the first song?

  • @MrClassicrock85

jack nitzsche - hard workin' man

  • Pity Checker closed down.

They had a new car done in 1970 i think byt GHIA in Italy.

    But they never produced it.

  • Just a terrific movie from the 1970's!

  • Bought the Blue Collar DVD very recently. Although made well over 30 years ago it is still fresh. An excellent movie, made all the better by Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band's contribution. Ta for posting this.

  • Total classic......way too good to be mainstream or widely appreciated.

  • @worldcoup Excellent taste my friend. Many thanks for viewing and appreciating ,,,Peace.

  • @scalpsie i watched it yesterday,great movie

  • @geiuy i watched the movie i think half a year ago and still until today the very end is stuck in my head...such a powerfull ending

  • @worldcoup ..TOTAL!!!

  • What is this song, and who is the artist.

  • Captain Beefheart died today. He was 69. It was multiple sclerosis. This probably explains why he retired from music so young.

RIP Mascara Snake...or is it Fast and Bullbous?

  • @poughkeepsiejohn1 'The Mascara Snake' is Beefheart's cousin, Victor Hayden. (Look it up). But - a squid eating dough in a polyethylene bag IS Fast and Bulbous. Also: tapered. Also: a tin teardrop.

  • Saw this in theaters when it was released. An amazing piece of work. I stumbled across the soundtrack on vinyl in a "Peaches" on Schaeffer Road in Dearborn ages ago and didn't buy it. One of my great regrets in life. If anyone knows of it's whereabouts on MP3, please for the sake of Pryor, Beefheart, Cooder lovers, post it here.

  • dog shit miller

  • A little research here. This is The Checker Motors Co. located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It made Checker Cabs here until about 1982. After that, it made auto parts for GM. But by 2008, it was hurt by the recession and the dropping auto sales. And on top of that, Checker's CEO was a victim of Bernie Madoff's scam losing millions. Finally, in 2010, Checker filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

By the way, the film has a disclaimer at the end saying that what happens here is totally fictional.

  • It's remarkable that Captain Beefheart sings like Howlin' Wolf! Who can sing like that today?

  • A little gem that's not as well-known as it should be.

  • I worked in a plant and there is so much truth in this til it ain't funny...Ya feel me !!

  • Could you post the rest of the movie I love this movie real hard to find!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent Movie.

  • @whiteknight4879 Any movie with a character named "Dogshit Miller" is an instant classic! And Pryor was worthy of an Oscar Nom for this one: his best dramatic role.

  • How DID they film the paint shop murder scene ?

  • I agree. It's a crime that this film does not get the recognition it deserves

  • this is such a classic under rated movie, love it

  • yaphet koto is awesome in it

  • I drive by part of that once in a while its mostly shut down. Richard Pryor was leaning against the wall and guy I kind of know who kind of looks like him said he went up to him with a camera and Pryor wouldn't turn around and finally goes,"WOULD YOU HURRY UP AND TAKE THAT FUCKING PICTURE." funny shit

  • Tempremental or what!!! Cool bit of inside info.

  • I was just in the Checker plants 1 2 and 3 this week shooting some video. I'll post it later next week. It's really changed.

  • my cousin works there

  • Way cool ...many thanks for viewing and enjoying - thank you. Awesome film.

  • i tried to purchase this on amazon. cost about 50 something bucks to start!

  • It's a 'must have' movie! Thank you for viewing.

  • @scalpsie---Thanks for this hard-to-find gem...why not make it less hard to find; throw some tags on here like "Captain Beefheart" and "Ry Cooder" and you will get a ton more views....just sayin'.

  • Thanks for viewing and have acted on your suggestion ....thank you...peace...awesome track isn't it...been loving it for years.

  • what the name of the song at the start of this movie ?

  • This is Captain Beefheart Music...not quite sure of the name of track but I just like it.Thank you for viewing.

  • The song's called Hard Workin' Man, written by Cooder and featuring his old employer Beefheart on vocals. You can find the released soundtrack version around here (with its slightly watered down lyrics).

  • @UncleWaldemar Van Vliet in fine voice here...Coaxed out of retirement in the Desert by Ry... Nitzche wanted someone who sounded like Howlin' Wolf...Ry said ''I know just the man''

  • Richard Pryor's career-best performance to date!!!!!

  • Totally agree ...awesome performance and much underated...pity.Great movie! Peace.

  • what the name of the song at the start of this movie ?

  • This is Captain Beefheart Music!

  • I think it's Ry Cooder on guitar too.

  • I used to own a 81 Checker here in the UK! You can understand the poor build quality when you see the production process. Nevertheless, one of the best cars ever built!

  • Great movie! checker cabs!

  • Man I remember this movie as a kid and God that was a long time ago lol! But I am one of the only people out there that does not have a VCR or DVD player ! Hopefully someday so I can start to collect a shitload of great movies like this one and so many others!

  • was this off the dvd? My intro is from the vhs and the music sounds either slower or recut.
