This theme is not what you'd expect out of Silent Hill. It's closer to a love story or a redemption story than an actual horror, so the theme doesn't need to be spooky. Also the theme is about Laura, a very mysterious character, much like this game.

Me too, as I think point and clicks are great. Especially the LucasArts ones were wonderful; Full throttle, The dig etc. Those were brilliant, imo. They don't really make them like that anymore. I also remember playing a (non LucasArts) one called "The gene machine" which I don't think is very well known but it was truly memorable.

I didn't know that about Monkey Island... I should check that out for sure. :)

I was scared shitless by Nemesis. So was everyone I knew that played RE3. Don't give me that, "Silent Hill is scarier than RE any day" bullshit. RE had way more "horrifying drama". Silent Hill consists mostly of, "atmospheric dread." Silent Hill has dimly lit, tight corridors. These corridors are filled mostly with mangled framed men/children/nurses. You never truly run into something as deadly as Nemesis.

Resident Evil 4 was awesome because Capcom decided to give the middle finger to any pretensions at being a horror game and was all the better for it.

Silent Hill's different. It remains a game where you're a nigh-helpless, clueless, terrified survivor trapped in a world where ANYTHING can happen.
