These old Chucky movies are better than the newer ones. I hated it when they gave him scars cause it took away what made him scary and distinctive. I like when he seemed like just an innocent doll cause it made him that much more frightening, plus he was one of the few, if only, horror movie icons who looked cute and innocent (but was downright sinister). I don't care what anyone says, the animatronics for Chucky are pretty much life-like. Some of the best special fx ever. Lip syncing, body and facial movement, the amazing voice acting, even just looking into his eyes make you believe there's a soul inside the doll.

Unfortunatly as the series went on they got lazy and Chucky just became a silly puppet. But the original is still better that anything, today's CG effects have created.

This film is dated now but you have to consider the context that it was released. Horror was still a budding genre at the time and special effects were limited, the beauty of the low budget stuff is that it had to be more creative and in some ways this film is still much more original than 99% of horror out there, making it impressive for its time.
