I seriously doubt Eminem's songs that never even reached radio had an impact on Mariah's sales of Memoirs. Memoirs didn't sell due to a number of factors
1. Lead single came out too soon...3 months before the album was released
2. Mariah was more focused on Precious and her perfume than promoting the album
3. The album is honestly pretty rubbish.
The only people who cared about the Em/MC feud were the 15 yr old kids arguing on youtube.

Minnie riperton does not have a 7.3 octave range?! Where did u get that mes from Minnie has around a 5 octave range, maybe a little lower i'm not entirely sure. Mariah does indeed have a 5 octave range. Sony initially marketed her as having an 8 octave range for promotional purposes. So Quekei is correct on this subject. Facts are Mariah and Whitney are some of the greatest voices of all time. I prefer Mariah but recognise Whitney as an amazing vocalist none the less.

If the album came out when it was originally slated to, AND she made more performances of "Obsessed" then it would have been multiplatinum. The Single was out for too long before the album and so it took the bulk of the sales (Over a million or so)

Minnie riperton does not have a 7.3 octave range?! Where did u get that mes from Minnie has around a 5 octave range, maybe a little lower i'm not entirely sure. Mariah does indeed have a 5 octave range. Sony initially marketed her as having an 8 octave range for promotional purposes. So Quekei is correct on this subject. But why you continue to bring the Eminem thing up is confusing. You can't compare using drugs to just dressing up a a man for a video...seriously?

Facts are Mariah and Whitney are some of the greatest voices of all time. I prefer Mariah but recognise Whitney as an amazing vocalist none the less.
As of today i have more respect for Whitney. Although Whitney's voice is heavily damaged she still chooses to sing most performances live. Unlike Mariah. Mariah has been relying on playback for close to a decade. She either lipsyncs not only for tv performances but concerts. Thats why, even though i'm a huge fan, i won't waste money on her shows.

Her lowest recorded note is a G#2 which she did in an interview about her voice. Her highest note is a G#7 which she only hit in live performances of Emotions back in the 90's. Thats 5 octaves. Not 8. That book is wrong and you have no clue what your talking about.

I honestly suggest you research what octaves are before you define yourself as having a 5 octave voice. Not even Christina Aguilera has 5 octaves. She has a 4 octave range in which she can comfortably sing.

She was criticized for using her whistle register too much in the emotions album so thats why she toned it down. The Daydream album has very little use of the whistle register doesn't mean a thing. If she doesn't wanna use that part of her voice on a song then why should she? I think the fact that she is biracial plays a big part in why she broke away from that "Classy" image.She is very insecure because of her parents divorce when she was young and discrimination due to her being a biracial.
I think it still shows today that she still struglles, and will keep on trying to "fit in" even when she is fine the way she is. She is just trying to impress too many people.black/white and everyone else.
