Thankx for posting Mike...I will miss Gary alot...thankx for all the footage of him on here...He is one of my faves...could watch him all night, the Friday before he passed,my brother and I was watching him play on here and thought tha Joe Bonamassa and him should get together and do something...well not a possibility in that now...Great cover though Mike... loved it man...R.I.P. Mr. Gary Moore
Badass. That's the only thing I can come up with. Just pure, unabashed badassery. I'm not sure that's even a word, but it fits. One of the best covers of anyone ever made. Just badass.
Mike dude this is fantastic. I'm memorized by it. Your tone and control of the notes and the bends is out of this world. It's very apparent that your playing was influenced by Gary. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
@crazyb3fan Thanks Mike. I've always been pretty good at bending to and holding a pitch. I think it comes from learning slide at a young age and be able to intonate with it.
@coulsonsam87 Thanks so much Sam. I never tried to play this until last night. I sat down and watched Gary play it on the Montreux concert DVD's. Gary used a 24 fret double cut Les Paul to get to the high notes. I had to pull hard on the 22nd fret to get that one. LOL I thought it fitting to play it on a Les Paul.
Outstanding!! That was just a pleasure to watch, Mike! It's so obvious that Gary was one of your main influences while watching all of your vids. I can tell you really put your heart into this one.
@ZenDriveSevenAfter hearing you on The Loner I thought I would try a Gary Moore tribute. I never tried to play this until tonight. I found the backing track and got out the Gary Moore ultimate Montreux collection DVD set and watched him a bunch of times. He used a 24 fret Les Paul double cut and had a hard time hitting the high notes a few times. It was a chore hitting the high F on a 22 fret Les Paul single cut. It was fun to play and I might bring it into the band.
@PhilFeedback Thanks so much Phil. It was a tough stretch to hit the high F on a 22 fret guitar. I felt like I was playing slide listening for the note bending from high F down a half step to the E. Gary used a 24 fret Les Paul double cut on the video I have. Fun song to play. I miss Gary, wish I could have seen him live but he never came to the states at all.
That tone is so Gary!
