  • On a étudié cette chanson en cours d'anglais et j'avoue qu'elle est très bien! (:

  • Damn you Katrina !

  • YES! YES! YES! I thought I was the only one who wanted Sting as Lestat!!! He would have been PERFECT!!!!

  • @Golden3000997 he would have been. i never could quite buy tom cruise as lestat. when ann rice wrote the novel, she had rutger hauer in mind. but i'm weird, 'tales of the body thief' was my favorite novel of the series.

  • The producers, or whatever, should have taken Anne Rice's advice and cast Sting as Lastat. Come on...Sting made a great Frankenstein (or is that Fron-ken-steen?) :)

  • @haastaboozia Sting made a passable "Bell~boy" in the movie Quadrophenia. What makes you think, he could be "cast" as me, hm?

  • I don't normally like Brad Pitt. BUT, as Louis? DANG!

  • ...I see faces as they pass beneath the pale lamplight...

  • great song meh video rendition of a great song

  • shit song ! i like sting but this song sucks

  • @studioreganowka very nice job. I wish this was the closing credits song of the movie....

  • great video to get from a friend (Mephisto?),especially in combination with this jazzy/blue song from Sting

  • great song for a vampire,beautiful i love it

  • great song for a vampire,beautiful i love it

  • Kirsten Dunst ♥ Also Brad & Tom very good.

  • Interview With A Vampire is by far the best vampire movie in the history of vampire movies. Sting's wonderful song, is a great tribute to a haunting and artfully done movie, as well as it is a wonderful tribute to such an iconic landmark as Bourbon Street.

  • im into all MOON stuff =)

  • Absolutely gorgeous music!!

  • sometimes when life is sad a few notes of music can still touch our souls and remind us how wonderful life can be.

  • This song made me buy and conquer the Sax Yes yes magic.Sister Moon also

  • I realize this is not Sting and the royal philharmonic Orchestra... Im just stating Its a much better version :D

  • sting and the royal philharmonic orchestra playing this has to be the best rendition of the song, Super excited for the CD to be released soon :D

  • perfect...amazing... gorgeous... wonderfull

  • if fther is a god then hes gotta get to bourbon street

  • great job...weel done congrats!

  • me gusta un monton esta cancion

    no me canso de oirla¡¡¡

    =D

  • great song it Captures the book/movie very well

book was way better than the movie

  • Cruise is perfect Lestat but Pitt's role could be played by someone else. Depp maybe

  • I disagree. Personally, I think they could have picked a better actor for the role of Lestat instead of Cruise--and they did, actually, for Queen of the Damned--but the casting of Pitt as Louis for Interview with the Vampire was perfect.

  • @sm414l yeah maybe but i Like Cruise as Lestat:)

  • Je trouve la mélodie sarcastique et nostalgique à la fois..

  • @Rosaliee7

Your language is beautiful, and far beyond English.

  • The brim of my hat.....my look sharp as a blade.. My intentions are selfish...And my motive is to: CONQUER ! ja ja.. yeah that cat is ill !

  • @speeches thank you! I'm a french Canadian... form "Québec "

  • nice music!! :)

  • johnny depp would have done a MUCH better job in either brad's or douchebag cruise ANY DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • depp turned down the role of Lestat.

  • I'd heard that rumour before, and I've always wondered (if indeed it is true) what Depp's reasons might have been...

  • i agree. johnny depp as louis and nicholas cage as lestat. i know sounds weird, but nicholas cage has that whole sexy, drooped eyelid vibe.

  • @Rainbowmist1962 -Depp would have made a fine Lestat or Armand. I can't see him as Louis however. I am no Pitt fan but I must say he mesmerized me as Louis. His beauty and tortured demeanor were exactly fitting for the role.

  • @CaptainGrevious - I agree with you completely, he portrayed the anguished, confused soul of Louis beautifully.

The movie will never compare to such an amazing, mesmerizing book, but Pitt as Louis Pointe du Lac was defiantly something to witness.

  • @Mehiyo ...actually I just finsihed reading Interview With the Vampire about 2 weeks ago for first time. I thought it was so beautifully written it has now become my favorite book and I am now reading The Vampire Lestat.

  • One of my favorite Sting songs. :)

  • i didn't like the movie. i couldnt buy brad pitt as louis, i always pictured him as a young richard gere. and i really couldn't picture tom cruise as lestat. i guess i read the novel, and then heard the song, and then got my own mental picture of what the characters would look like. i always pictured someone vaguely european in both roles. oh well,......

  • As a native of New Orleans I've always felt a very personal resonance to this beautiful song.

Tourists and non-New Orleanians think of Bourbon Street as the 8 - 10 block stretch of flashy neon and gaudy bars... but Bourbon Street stretches much farther - out of the French Quarter and into the Faubourg Marigny. It is a magnificent, hauntingly gorgeous residential street... replete and worthy of the romance of this song.

  • Living far away from your town in Wiesbaden/Germany this song has given me an idea of "bourbon street" - thanks for your necessary hints.

Sting is a singing concept author in the footsteps of Leonhard Cohen. And this song is able to transport the athmosphere of your home area over thousand of miles to me.

That's what art have do to. Bridging. ( I'd not believe you all are werewolfs)

  • @anglicansag First of all, it is so good to see a post by another native New Orleanian that speaks so well of our beloved city. Second, thanks for sharing a post that provides a positive and insightful look at the culture and history of New Orleans, the most unique city in the State of the Union. Great post.

  • @cassopia09 as a native Y'at, I second that!

  • what movie is this? brad pitt as a vampire...like it :p

  • really? lol its Interview with a Vampire..a novel by ann rice....real vamps dont sparkle....=P

  • Sting...a magical and musical mind

  • Santafuria2..whats the point in you!

  • I just answered to Msluckypatches who, infact, got 6 thumbs down. Do you know how YouTube works? I don't think so. Enjoy Sting instead of wasting your time in replying shit. Noob.

  • I DO enjoy sting.. and yes I do know how youtube works.thankyou

  • @3third3eye3 ,you're absoltuly right

  • Graci!

  • At least until they break up. Which will be any day now considering the fates of countless other hundreds of celebrity couples.

And on that note, dammit, Interview With a Vampire is good damn film and Moon Over Bourbon Street is the ultimate vampire song.

  • lol, well..I wish them the best anyway

  • What's the point with Sting?

  • Idk, lol

  • Comment removed

  • Branford's playing in this song is truly amazing..I have always felt that his song worked so well a long side of Sting's lyrics and melodies

  • louis and lastat are hot

    love book and movie

my mum loved it so much she named our (now dead) cat lastat

    funky name i must say

    lol

    mazing song

  • I've seen and talked to Anne Rice, this movie is not what she wanted, I believe... Sting's song is great, first concert I have seen....

  • Are you kidding, she loves the movie. She initially objected to Tom Cruise as Lestat, but eventually changed her mind when she saw the result.

  • i've seen this movie and its awesome !!!!!!!

    go vampires

  • brilliant song

  • Very nice and one of My favourite songs that I havent heard for many years..

  • u arε bεautiful and that boч in чour hεad right now will rεalisε

    nεvεr likε чou. goodLuck

  • You're delusional; this song came out in '1985 and references "Interview" expressly. Also, and let's be absolutely clear on this, not only is the "Twilight "series a rip off of the "Vampire Chronicles", it is inferior in every single way that matters. "Twilight" is aimed at little girls that still listen to TRL. Interview was written in 1977, and created the modern Vampire genre. Think before you post anymore drivel.

  • I meant the below comment for the idiot "Twilightful" who is stuck in twilight land, trying to assert that it's anywhere near as well concieved as the "Vampire Chronicles".

  • I'm not an idiot, u didn't understand what i wanted to say. i know that this song wasn't written for twilight, but i simply wanted to say that the words of the song could describe the nature of the relation beetween a vampire and his beloved. If you don't agree i respect your opinion but you should respect mine.that's what intelligent and tolerant people usually do.

  • this song should stay away from twilight. they have nothing in common.

  • Twillight? Don't you mean Interview with the Vampire?

  • no i wasnt responding to someone who said that this song should be used for twilight. no way. this song is way too good for twilight. it fits interview more.

  • Besides, you can't offend people just because u don't agree. If u do I'm sorry for you.

  • Right, and Flo rida's "Low" could be about him aswell, right?

  • My favourite song of Sting, you've created a great video. :-)

  • Is it just me, or does this 4 minute song capture the feeling of 'Interview' much better than the movie did?

  • i love it!

  • Great debate on werewolves or vampires! I know what Sting said about it being vampires but when I heard this when I was a kid I thought it was about werewolves because you here a wolf howl at the end. turn up your volume!

  • i agree and one would think werewolves cause its titled "moon" over bourbon street and vampires arent linked with the moon

  • Keep in mind that due to Bram Stroker's Dracula, wolves are associated with Vampires, and according to some folklore a Vampire can morph into a Wolf.

  • i also thought werewolves. Because of the moon.

  • great song, great film, great combination

  • No. He gives credit to Anne Rice on his first solo album for this song. Would have been nice if it was in the movie!

  • since it`s called moon over Bourbon street shouldn`t it be about werewolves?

  • "Oh, but I can never show my face at noon and you'll only see me walking by the light of the moon" is more the hint for vampirism...

  • i think the line

'Theres a MOON over bourbon street' indicates he is a wearwolf because they only turn when the moon is full.

  • 'You'll never see my shade'

that it's moon over bourbon street just tellls he can only come out at night, as a vampire

  • the bright light the people and the MOON and all that`s for like a lycanthropic term and i should know because I read aabout werewolves

  • look up interviews sting has done on regarding this song. It is about being a vampire and the pain he lives with, knowing what he has become.

  • Sting specifically said was inspired Louis (the vampire in the story). But I see what you mean about werewolves too. Although if you listen to the lyrics its more towards vampires.

  • you know what maybe it was about vampires and werewolves

  • Comment removed

  • love this song....but i heard the movie wasn't that good. i don't like brad pitt either, who's with me? not many of you i guess

  • what was the name of that movie? i have got to see it

  • interview with a vampire

  • God I miss my CITY! There is nothing like the JAZZ & atmosphere ~_*

  • this was my favorite song ages ago, love it! :)

  • my favorate of anne rices vampires is lestat, also this was an amazing book but i have yet to see the movie

  • è bellissima questa canzone,

    come il libro

    come il film.

    l'ascolterei per sempre..

  • well, when she wrote the books, she had rutger hauer in mind. i think nicholas cage would have been good too as lestat. those eyes, that whole broody vibe. just my opinion.

  • what name of movie??? ans awsome song

  • Interview with a vampire

  • the book is prety good to

  • Ten utwór oraz film ma ten klimat którego niektórzy ludzie nie poczują i nie zrozumieją

  • That's an ingenious song.

I always loved this dream-of-the-blue-turtles-stuff ever since Sting released it back in 1985.

Are you sure he re-issued this song for the 1994 movie 'Interview with the Vampire'? Not sure.

Anyway, it's a great song for a great movie.

  • The song was based off the Anne Rice novel of "Interview with the Vampire", so it's a fitting choice to have this song play on the scenes of the movie based of that work of fiction.

  • Thanks. Didn't know the song's based off the novel and no doubt it's a fitting choice for the movie.

  • I loved imagining the story behind this song. In '85 I was 10, so it was a few years later I discovered Anne Rice books and the connection was further elucidated. I think the song stands on its own.

  • This song is awesome. Even if you never saw Interview W/A Vampire. Just friggin' awesome!

  • This should have been the song for the end credits and not Guns & Roses. Still, great movie and genius novel. Thanks for posting!

  • One of the greatest bass line ever to be created.Ever.

  • Certainly a great bass line, and a incredibly well constructed and developes ambient of sordid, insomny, insanity, all packed with a great sense of elegance and finesse... Well, it´s Sting!!

  • I'm trying to look for the real video.

  • haven"t heard it for years!!!!! still - thumbs up for sting

  • this song is so great y dont people love it

  • Listen to his voice. he is so calm. i love sting

  • Neil jordan did a hell of a job bringing the book to the screen. But I have to admit, Cruise din't fill the ticket on the Lestat job. I was hoping for Liam Neesson for the role. but Pitt, Bandaras and Dunst were absolutly incredible. The song and the clips are very good!....Good job!

  • I agree Brad Pitt was great!! while Cruise was over rated and made easy milllions playing the role, now his new movies are bombing,Pitt is a great actor!! 5 *****, Marc Jones Vocalist U.S.A

  • This was faboulos many years ago and now....is still faboulos !

  • I love this song

  • I have been a fan of Sting sice I was a teen.

    This song is my favorite.

He wrote it about Louis in "Interview" and he makes you feel his pain.

  • i love the movie, the book, the song... simply beautiful.

  • can someone tell me the difference between this song ( i.e. the lyrics) and the orginal work (novel bij Anne Rice)?

  • not much, it is just about how much louis was haunted by what he had to do as a vampire.

  • the song is pretty in line with the novel. the movie took a lot of liberties. but movies usually do.

  • Maybe my favourite Sting number. Glorious. Why wasn't it a HUGE hit??!!

  • I love it! :-)))

  • STING ISS IMMER GUT! .-9

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! My mom listens to it all the time. :D

  • what's the name of this movie? coul somebosy please tell me

    thanks

  • interview with a vampire. it's a great song. i love it :)

  • Thanks a lot. U know trix78, it was really weird, after i asked the name i turned comp off and went to watch tv and there were showing this movie...creepy, isnt it?

  • that IS weird! i must watch the film ive never seen it, it looks good

  • It is quite a good film, really. When I first heard the Cruise got the role, I thought he'd ruin it. But he pulled it off beautifully.

  • Such a powerful song - still gets me everytime 18 or whatever years later. Classy video too.

  • yes, sting actually wrote this song specially for this movie - he's been even considered to play lestat's character .... beautiful song and lyrics...hmmm sting - always so classy

  • You're kidding--sting was considered for Lestat? That would have been fantastic

  • This song was used in our School Musical, en frankly it was much better than the original song. =P

  • i adore this song,it's so sufisticate :)

sting is one of the best musicians :) by my onpinion

  • Its great. I love the movie, and I love this song, and you did a great job!

    --

LinkNellaGrotta, duh this song is about vampires! Just listen to the lyrics and don't post stupid comments about stuff you don't know. lol

  • Actually he is talking about a vampire. This song was inspired by the Anne Rice novels.

  • Yeah, he is. He wrote this about the vampire Louis from 'Interview with the Vampire'.

  • I tought to at the beginning. But then I tough it was refering to a werewolf. He say: Now I can only shaw my face at noon .

I didn't know the song was for the movie. Thanks coral

    Sincalsomething, poor guy...

  • "Now I can never show my face at Noon (1;34- )

  • omfg

  • Thanks araniobsidian, bautiful clip wonderful song

  • Check Odd Rene Andersens renidition of this song, that one is also very good. I love Stings songs

  • This video is so sad, it almost makes me cry every time I see it. But the pictures and the voice of Stiand the beautiful music makes it everlasting..........

  • sorry, i meant the voice of Sting ofcoure, slip of my fingers..........

  • I think lestat should have been a Rock Opera >.> goth rock opera XD...

  • Elton John made a musical about him (I know, horrible!)

  • Actually, the score for the musical is not really that bad. There are some gorgeous songs in it. It just wasn't well recieved by the public and critics alike. Definately just the wrong take on the story. A rock opera...that may have suited better is right.

  • ...This is hands down my absolute favorite song in the entire world! Anybody know of an original music video?

  • I don't know of an original video, but I've posted another version of this song if your interested.

  • who is the man at 2.15 putting his arms up? i havent seen the film

  • I believe that is the vampire Santiago. If I remember correctly, that scene introduces the theater of the vampires led by the vampire Armand. Santiago plays a larger part in the book than in the movie.

  • The clips aer geast but the wipes are atrocious, makes it look like cable access, Turn in your eqpt and take a course or two. Or five. Or eight. But never do this again, you'll never work in the industry this way.

  • i dont plan on working in the industry, i simply got bored and played around with windows.

  • You criticize like people are supposed to editing experts. This is for fun, lighten up.

  • haunting

  • Yep. I haven't stopped listening to it for a little while now, because of that quality to it.

  • wow.. I really loved the song when i was 15..

    what a memory.

  • *reads all the comments below..Intakes breath to make a comment, and then just quirks head to the side.* wtf?

  • haha! thats what i did.

  • i concur...wtf indeed.

  • DAMN thats a sexy song!...I NEED to go to New Orleans now lol.

  • do u know wat film this is from?

  • its from interview with a vampire

  • I must go now into the night to fetch bread for my sick cat. The moon if full which saps the vampires energy, thus they crave their prey. I may never return to UTUBE again, I may be a meal this night for the sharp tooths. Goodbye, you were a good friend, I'll never forget you Oy Vey.
