It's actually better for your hair than putting it in a tight ponytail or messy bun, and it's probably the least damaging style you can do. They say that you should loosely braid your hair (if it's long) at night to avoid breakage, which would occur with a messy bun, ponytail or even just leaving your hair down. :)

I've never been good at keeping the braid tight, it always winds up extremely loose and messy-looking. But I am definitely going to try this. Practice makes perfect.

@InvisibleToLife They're in a spiral shape and have to be twisted into the hair. They work better and you don't have to use nearly as many but regular hair pins should work.

One problem with this hair tutorial: it's hard to do on really curly hair. Doing it on yourself is hard enough, but doing it with curly hair is another story. It turns out so bumpy, and there are so many fly aways. T-T Is there a way to tame my hair???

@lovezchoclabs I have don it on some curly haired friends, I just requires a little practice. If you have the means, you can try straighting it first. Otherwise, try doing it after washing your hair, while your hair is still a little damp, but not completely wet. Brush it well so that there isn't any knots, and apply an anti frizz hair product (leave in conditioner, puddy, hair wax, gel, there is plenty to try ). Once your braid is done, you can use some product to flatten out stray hairs.

@tyhokan That's the thing: you done it on friends. You didn't do it on yourself with frizzy, curly hair. lol You know? I did try doing it with straightened hair, but because I'm reaching back, I sweat. And once that sweat dribbles down my neck, my hair starts to curly and frizz up like crazy!!! Also, the heat and humidity doesn't help either. Yes, I did use anti-frizz shampoo, conditioner, and serum from the John Freida collection, along with hair wax I had from got2b. >.<
