  • There are many drummers you should study if you wanna do rock. John Bonham, Keith Moon, and Neil Peart are premium on that list, obviously, but if you could only look at one drummer to learn from, it would have to be Charlie Watts. He's the steady heartbeat of the Stones.

  • @TheOhyeahproductions Charlie has swing in his playing that very few rock players have which has put that sway in the Stones sound and the way he follows Keith's rhythm guitar is a signature style that cannot really ever be duplicated.

  • Everyone in the Stones are characters, In my opinion Charlie Watts is the most sensitive one of them all. He seems hitting the drums with his own nerve instead of his drum sticks.

  • Now , now,,,,the folks who criticize Charlie's playing need a little sympathy; their sensibilites have not matured to the point where they can understand his contribution to the stones' music with his powerful, yet understated drumming - which aptly reflects his personality

have pity on them...they are but little children who think drumming is some kind of olympic sport

  • you couldn't afford him to play at your faggy wedding

  • The very reserved Charlie Watts. Been holding that back beat for decades.

  • Charlie Watts...The Best Drummer in the World!!!

  • charlie watts, worst drummer ever. tho, i think hes a cool guy, wouldnt pay him a dime to play in my local cover band. :)

  • @SixStringDeity How is he the worst drummer ever? You're right, who wouldn't pay a dime; you'd have to pay him 1,000,000,000 bucks to be in your little cover group.

  • @SixStringDeity he wouldn't take your call.....idiot

besides he charges more than a dime you fucking fool

  • @platter1000 whats with attacking me, douche? i give him credit, and he deserves his money. hes just a crap drummer. and? most of the musicians that make it are crap. they are just lucky. wouldnt pay this guy to play a wedding. grow up. if i can play the drum parts he does, and i can, and you probably could too, and i dont even know you, that means hes not exactly highly talented. lol i barely play drums. cmon, u have to admit he sucks?

  • @SixStringDeity Geez! Democracy in action! You are proof that ANY effing Idiot can post a comment on youTube! You're a "diety" alright....A Diety of Stupidity! I love to hear Charlie play drums! His stuff is "deceptively simple". It's called "subtlety"....something you wouldn't understand. Let me guess.....I'll bet you think John "lead-foot" Bonham is a great drummer; right? Shows what you know!

  • @swiggy58a you forgot to say" na na na naaa na"

  • @SixStringDeity That's not exactly perfect logic - in fact, your logic is quite terrible.

  • charlie is funny when he says all the band i've been in only last 1 or 2 years...he has been with the stones 50 years.............lol i hope the stones do another tour

  • @platter1000 He says that he though that's how long the Stones would last (1 or 2 years) not his time in the group.

  • another tour please Mr Watts.

  • Mr. Charlie Watts is GOD!.......freak

  • Charlie Watts is one of the greatest drummers of all time. The Stones were very lucky he joined them and they have been lucky on that score ever since. Keith Richards said some years ago that the previous two or three drummers they had before Charlie joined the band were awful - then Charlie joined and the rest, as they say, is history...

  • charly is the man, final point.

  • Charlie has the definite groove of rock'n'roll. People say it's easy to play rock'n'roll drums. But playing it with passion and groove, that's a whole different thing

  • Charlie Charlie Charlie, ur a hidden star in the rolling stones, sittin behind the drum kit lookin bored outta ya brain, But really without you the rolling stone wouldn't have that ecxellent drum work!

  • he speaks!

  • The badmouthers can all go take a running leap. The only people who count when talking about Charlie Watts are his bandmates, and it is a matter of public record from the mouths of every single member of the band that without Charlie they would have never made it through!

  • Real full blood Londoner ...

  • @zapspace Yess..

    lovin' it

  • Charlie Watts has always been so discreet and polite, his impeccable drumming is fundamental to all Stones classics, and that singular "emotional act" on the cover of "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out" was his only misconduct - ever. How come that only Mick got knighted?

  • @ballonfisch You have to ask Queen Eliabeth why Michael is,Keith and Charles and William awaiting---Keith says he don+t want...Keith.you do want to be called sir Keith...ask paul.ask mick....I would love to see you knighted

  • yeaah he's a huge jazz lover ^^ ..

  • Don't Mess with Charlie He Just be the Greatest Rock and Roll Drummer of all time

Solid always in the pocket Laid Back but Powerful

Listen and Take a Lesson From a Master

  • @Jay902017 hes not the best by a mile , great drummer but not the best ,hes boring and unintresting drumming style just isent great ..keith moon the best

  • jazzman

  • Charlie Watts no flashy drum kits, no silly behaviour, just 100% style & quality for over 40 years great bloke

  • Charlie is the coolest Stone. Not many people know this, but it's true. He is awesome.

"I'm not your drummer, you're my fucking singer" Quote directly from the horses mouth, to Mick Jagger.

  • @LillyCandyCane Just before he punched Mick in the face. :)

  • @LillyCandyCane Charlie never said "you´re my fucking singer"

  • @LillyCandyCane Charlie said to Sir Michael Jagger:Do not ever ever call me your drummer. That is all.

  • @69MC97gc Not according to Keith, who was a witness to that scene. Charlie then punched Mick so hard he nearly fell out the window and Keith had to grab him to stop him falling. It was in a hotel in Argentina.

  • @LillyCandyCane

yes that did happen, but its because Mick was partying at 3 in the morning in the room right below charlie and pissing him off, he then proceeded to shower, shave, put on a nice suit go downstairs and knock on the door and when Mick answered he said, whilst intoxicated "oh look everyone its my drummer." Charlie then punched him square in the mouth and said that infamous quote and went upstairs and went to bed. direct story from the man himself

  • Charlie is pure class....Scorsese is pure shit for including a fucking political person like clinton in a rock n roll movie. Fuck him...bastard ass liberal suck up..

  • He has the lost art of self deprecation.

  • Charlie's so suave. Looks more like a banker than a Rolling Stone. In his case looking so "normal" is what sets him apart.

  • Charlie Watts is the backbone of the Rolling Stones.

  • @kimatoz3

    No, Watts is God.

  • I FUCKEN RESPECT CHARLIE!! HE'S AWESOME! HE'S A DRUMMER, BETTER THAN RINGO! LOVE THE ROLLING STONES!

  • STILL a badass

  • I dated his granddaughter.

  • Charlie remembers what too many drummers forget in their quest for stardom: first and foremost, keep the beat!

  • Charlie Watts is the coolest Stone. He's just awesome. Anyone who doesn't realise this is an idiot.

  • Why is she talking like that? Charlie Waats? At least CW has some style and wears a nice whistle - plus he sounds like Michael Caine. What a nice, modest man to emerge from the centre of a rock and roll ego-storm! Also check out "If it ain't got that swing" on youTube.

  • Charlie watt is the f'n greatest - anybody that thinks different is a f'd up c'nt

  • 1 z gorszych perkusistów rockowych, ale taki spokojny człowiek potrzebny był temu zespołowi żeby się nie rozpadł. Darzę go dużym szacunkiem.

  • I can't take anymore of that Scorcese and his fcking glasses. Nerd.

  • How old is Charlie? I mean, he was already really old back in the 60s!!!

  • @braddyboy82 He was born in 1941. So in 1962 he was 21. Hardly 'really old.'

  • @andyingreece

    Wow, no sense of humor.

  • Comment removed

  • thought the exact same thing

Seen the Stones seen the movies etc nOt even a huge fan of the song BUT AM OF THE STONES so I got the dvd thought I would watch a song or three and then be done with it

But it is really good and worth having and the watch

  • Grande Charlie!!!

    God bless you!!!

  • fuck the clintons...go with the stones!!1

  • ffs "scorsaysee" not "scorseeesseee" alright thats how its spelt but its not how its bloody well pronounced!

  • Charlie was always the calm one out of all thme

  • 0:19-:023, Get SOMEEEEE Mick.

  • You´re still great Charlie!!!!

Playing calmly with a big soul.

  • These are my favourite musicians here: The Rolling Stones, Jack White and Christina Aguilera!

  • I'm italian and I don't understand english.. please somebody can tell me what mean this video?? thanks...

  • The clintons? the fucking clintons? Just like hollywood political bullshit. Scorsese is no different. When I see a documentary about a rock n roll band I dont want so cheap ass political reference or the likes of some fucking politician entering into the mix. When I watch most anything on TV these days, the fucking liberal political overtones that abound are fucking crazy. Politics politics....fuck them!

  • We've seen over the years how many people have been bought out to push the agenda and election of presidents. And no more so than Obama. I think that "the powers that be" have bought out the whole entertainment industry and promised them certain things just like the unions. They realize that in this entertainment crazed society (i.e. American Idol mentality, People Magazine reading star struck empty heads) that this is another avenue of propaganda. I love the Stones, but not the endorsements....

  • Yeah. Fuck 'em all. You wanna know what's worse? All these legendary bands playing the fuckin' Superbowl Halftime sows. Rock and Sports don't mix. I mean how much more exposure do these groups need anyway. They can't need the money and it's all a sham. And as great as the groups are, it's usually the worst performance by them. Most musicians don't even care about sports anyway. You think they hang around to see the 4th quarter or even care who wins?

  • @RubHerSoul1 .........yes sports and real music do not mix but do not fucking attack the who, Pete and Roger can be fucking put out of this argument

  • @SiameseDream4321 well i wouldn't be attacking the Who et al if they would at least try to maintain some sort of dignity! They're all rich enough to say no at this point. They would have told the sports industry to fuck off years ago when they didn't have the money and the clout to do so. I'm not sure how you justify both sides of the argument in your comment? I'm mad because I love the Who and what they used to stand for.

  • @RubHerSoul1 i learned a while that artists are people.....REAL PEOPLE, no matter how spectacular they are as artists i dont know why they agreed to the superbowl and frankly i dont mind not knowing, but just because they are playing venues like this does not mean they dont stand for what they used to they are still the who

  • Cameo from the Clintons, Christina aga whateverthefuckhername is lera! 2 Reasons I've just decided not to watch this movie! Fuck all these hangers on

  • OLD AND DEPRESSING

  • Then why don't you go and check out some nickelback or some other bullshit that passes itself off as rock'n roll, or music for that matter.

  • @Fairweather4tune i met rundgren in vgas and we talked for a long time about music , , i could say a few things but i wont . bye old man

  • lemme guesss = 42/ still live w mumsy - wearing a pair of kiss boots - what the fuck do you know - old and depressing - 42 yr olds that listen to thrash bands - god your fucking depressing - hang yourself ya fuckin loser- bet youv'e had more cocks in you than a hen house

  • charlie watts ismy brothers friends uncle and my brother got backstage at a concert i wasnt born though

  • i care, it was worth mentioning

  • In what extent has your life been changed by this news??? I think there are more priorities than knowing that the sister of his cousin's brothers' neighbour had some acquaitance's relatives who knows the brother in law of Charlie Watt. This is definitely a headline news. I assume, for some reason, Fox News, your favorite channel, is sending on air round the clock footages about that.

  • They knew from the outset that whatever band snagged Watts got the key to success. How they got Charlie Watts to leave jazz for the Stones is set out in "Old Gods, Nearly Dead."

  • Charlie kept the Stones together Keeef admitted it

  • Nanker and Pheldge were two aliasses used by Mick and Keith to avoid law suits problems in the early years.

  • Charlie is the only One drummer for the Stones, the Original and Genuine , I can´t imagine another drummer GRETSCH !!!!!

  • there were other drummers for the rolling stones.you just don't know what you're talking about. :) Tony Chapman did drums, and Dick Taylor did bass before Charlie and Bill came along.

  • Yes I know all this story from they were playing at Ealing broadway and the Richmond´s hotel railway station !!!!I have got more than 100 books about the Stones . But ¿¿¿who was Jimmy Pheldge ????

  • Jimmy Phledge was a one-time roommate of Keith and Brian.

  • Charlie thought the band would last one or two years. You know who held the Stones together? Keith Richards. He was always monumentally focused on making the band work--it's his particular genius. I think he would have done well running a business if he had never picked up a guitar. Luckily for the world, he did.

  • Tubelogin1, respect the quality of their music. Even if they earn tons of money and that they are maybe less good than before, listen to their songs less known, as Sway, Heaven, Moon is up, short and curly, fingerprint file, terrifying, down in the hole, ect... and come back.

They got a fucking success but they worth it, so don't criticize the stones!

(I hope my bad english is understandood)

  • fuck you!!

  • Charlie the Stone's eccentric Englishman . You are a dapper class act Mr. Watts, looking sharp and casually nonchalant in your tailored threads.

  • He talks like actor Terrence Stamp, an Eastender.

  • CHARLIE DONT SURF

  • You're both completely worthless in every way. Blow me.

  • I Love Lisa Fisher !

  • boring? how can a stones concert be boring?? lol gotta ,love charlie=] and the other stones aswell=]

  • Mick,Keith,Mick,Keith Oh.. lol!

  • I think its funny how everyone think mick and keith are the coolest, I have no doubt. and no one can change my mind that Charlie is the coolest, very down to earth.

  • its like a bitch fest on here fuck off!! Charlie Watts is a ledge end of!!

  • Charlie Watts is still the king.

  • @PressPlay2Go Sure he is the King of the Stones.

  • I can't believe some of you people talking crap about Charlie, he could probably kick your ass

  • Bitch.....shut your whiney mouth.

Shine a light in your hive.

  • piss up elvis316 you little creep

  • douschebag

  • love the stones. keef is god ;-)

  • Saw the movie...not nearly enough Charlie shots in my opinion...maybe a little too much Mick. Regardless...it's the Stones, man...Marty couldn't go wrong. Can't wait til next tour.
